I've just discovered something phenomenal. I love experimental electronica music 50 times more than the next guy, and I love The Walkmen's "We've Been Had" and I love things that involve Ontario and Canada. Thus when I found Decompusure, who is from Elmira (Waterloo) I got really giddy and felt like smiling which is exactly the same feeling I get when Jon's sister smiles and says, "Hey!" to me (except with about half the exclamation that a normal exclamation point denotes.) Even "Hour 7" (Caleb's most pop-hit-like) is a rush. Decomposure - Toy Electronic Drumsticks [...]

My twin has released some new material for his forthcoming album Trouble In Dreams out march 18 on Merge Destroyer - Foam Hand I'M JUST SO HAPPY! -jon

And we are back on the best of 07 road after only a minor detour through 06-ville. This is the award that goes out to all the big Indie acts out there that were able not to disappoint us this year, more specifically 3 fine gentlemen whom only need an acoustic guitar and a sweet vulnerable voice to woo us over. The Best "Oh My God My Mom Even Likes This Song (alternatively Best Acoustic Album) of the Year are: Jose Gonzales - In Our Nature [...]
I think we can manage 18 more! Expect, in the forthcoming fortnight, posts of our best of 2007 clustered together. I now focus on an artist who completely escaped out field of hearing during not only last years BO'06, but all of last year! Fionn Regan was nominated for last years Mercury Music Prize (for you Canucks, it's what the Polaris Prize ripped off, and for you Americans it's kind of like winning the Superbowl or having your nipple protector ripped off my JT.) and he has since lingered in the shadows. From Ireland, it was fitting my [...]

I understand that these post have been coming fast and we are usually not this regular, so for the record let's not get used to it. This was my year of hip hop, never before have I ever listen to as much hip-hop that I loved to the point where my favourite CDs of this year are hip-hop and I proudly proclaim my love for it. This year's favourites included the albino from Minneapolis, to the tiger from [...]

This award goes out to all of the bands, groups and individuals that help the masses shake their asses this year. To the Datarocks, Justices, and !!!s this year we have moved like never before. The Helping the Masses Shake Their Asses award will be split three ways between: Datarock The Norwegian band's second [...]
This is the first of many post to wrap up the end of the year and this year we are doing things a little different. We will do a series of post that will highlight different aspects of this year. One of the key points that I found interesting this year was the debunking of the "sophomore slump" myth. From LCD soundsystem to the Arcade Fire nothing has shattered this myth than Band of Horses in my humble opinion. So the first post of Mp3this's best of 07 goes to Band of Horses [...]

My Bloody Valentine re-enter studio. Want to be just like Radiohead when they grow up. My Bloody Valentine - Blow a Wish After I am done a paper on conflict resolution in the midst of the war on terror, I will post my top 50 of 2007. I have something special planned. -jon
Give me some of that old fashion morphine errr... religion. It's funny how history is always repeating its self. Well funny and sad. I am watching the movie Inherit the Wind and the opening song is "Give me some of that Old Time Religion". Made me instantly think of this: Ron Leary - Old Fashion Morphine -jon

So here is the deal, I have finished classes for the day and I have 30 mins. to kill before I have a meeting to save the world so I think I should share one of my current favourite songs. This one comes courtesy of one, Adam Fox who lent me the album. Alejandro Escovedo , despite having the name of my future child is apparently very well-known and I was the only person not in the know. 'Sal good though because I now know and have been rocking the "More Miles than Money" [...]

I have become utterly depressed under recent moon. I found out all my ideas for sculptures and installations have already been done by Maya Lin. ALL of them. Can we post 26 more times before 2008 in order to fulfil our goal of 300 posts this year? I doubt it, but please Jon--by all means--shatter that vision.

Sadly my last few weeks have been very overwhelming and some things had to give, clearly one of those things was this blog. I will do my best to update but with my macbook in the shop, work being overwhelming and me not having the time I used to for new music it will be very difficult. Anyway it is almost time for the top 50 and one band I can assure you will not make this years list will be The Killers, or The Leechs as I refer to them. This cover just might. [...]
Sheesh. Not Jon, nor I can explain these unforeseen absences. We're loaded with work. Jon is apart of the Jerusalem Project . He's [not] a slave , he learns , and he drinks to cope. I am apart of the New World Order , I slave , create , and smoke to cope. The Slip are from Boston. Listen to "Life In Disguise" because it is beautiful.
So I'm not the boy with the cold. I've developed a bad caugh, cold/fever combo. I described it to a customer at work yesterday as "the purgatory between common cold and fiery fever." However, I've got my new winter coat on that's keeping me warm. Just a reminder to all our German readers that Apparat's new album Walls is excellent, and to attend any of his jam sessios in his native Berlin if you get the chance. I know I never will. This post features St. Vincent, a musician who with the help of the internet [...]
The girl featured in the last post drove me home last night at 2am! I love her! NPR featured Sam Beam (Iron and Wine) recently, performing some new and old tracks. It's fitting since I've got his t-shirt on from the December 10th, 2005 show with Calexico. That seems like AGES ago! Visit here .
