I have had my eye on this album, awaiting the release for quite some time. I find Sharon's voice to be ever so beautiful. The album as a whole is alright... I selected a handful of diamonds for my collection, Magic Chords, Ask, Serpents, Kevin's and In Line. All well worth a listen and more. Enjoy. xx Magic Chords - Sharon Van Etten Tramp 2012 ( Jagjaguwar )

I am pretty excited for Jack White's solo project. We get a little taste with this single. The full length album, Blunderbuss comes out April 24th. Love Interruption - Jack White Love Interruption (Single) 2012

I want to take a moment to talk about Bright Eyes . I am not sure what I have been waiting for all these years. It is really a shame that I have missed listening to all of this great music for so long. I avoided it like the plague due to silly stereotypes and just being flat out stubborn. But I was oh so wrong. I dove in head first and fell head over heels in love and now I can't get enough. Thank you to a dear friend [...]

Tonight is the last night of my winter break. As you read this I will be sitting in my first class of the Spring 2012 semester. I have spent the last few weeks listening to a variety of different music which I will be sharing in the weeks to come and drinking a little more than I probably should but having a fabulous time... I was at the bar the other night and this song shuffled on the jukebox. Reminding me just how good Fleetwood Mac is. Never Going Back [...]
It has been a while my friends... The holidays and the end of year just kind of flew right by me. I hate when the holidays come to an end. There is the calm after the storm feeling which is always a little depressing. There are also these few weeks where the music industry kind of comes to a slow crawl, and I am not really done digesting 2011 so it is a limbo. Which is exactly where I am at right now. Change is hard... The new year transition can make me cling to the past. Although I am [...]

This list is a long time coming and a little later than I would have liked it to be, but I do not take lists lightly so I didn't want to rush it. For me 2011 was a great year in music. I have opened myself up and listened to a lot of stuff that I don't think I would have given a chance a couple of years ago. I also saw a fair amount of shows in 2011. Alexi Murdoch, The Decemberists, The Kills, James Vincent McMorrow and these are all albums I consider to have made up a [...]

It has almost been a year since I first discovered Of Monsters and Men and I waited very patiently for word of an album or EP. Well they are finally releasing an EP, Into The Woods on 12/20 and they will be releasing their debut full length album, My Head Is An Animal in 2012. I have fallen head over heels in love with this six piece band hailing from Iceland. It is a mix of Sigur [...]

I can't fully express what this song means to me. Every word resonates with me and how ironic that it shuffles on today... After all of these years I can't say we are friends but I can say that I have grown past all of it, I have grown more than I ever imagined I could. Cheers to that. That Year - Brandi Carlile Give Up the Ghost 2009 (Sony) [...]

Tonight... I just want to sit back and listen to Black Moon on repeat until I fall asleep. Black Moon - Wilco The Whole Love 2011 I was always right About the morning Okay, I'm an old shoe Danced above the blaze Never stopped crawling Over the black dunes And I'm waiting for you Waiting forever Are you awake [...]

I like this song a lot... Not the most profound lyrics but there is something about their young indie pop style that just puts a smile on my face when listening. By Your Hand has been on repeat since the albums release. A definite favorite song of 2011. By Your Hand - Los Campesinos! Hello Sadness 2011 (Arts & Crafts)

I have been struggling ever since I have returned from Vegas. Struggling with my reality and the monotonous grind of the day to day. When I got back it really hit me, I actually have to go back to work and school... It didn't all just disappear. My best friend got married which was exciting, but also scary. She is not single anymore, she has more obligations than I and being an only child I am insanely possessive over my friendships it is hard for me to let go a little and share. So I have done a lot of [...]

Oh, Hope Sandoval how I have yearned for new music from you. Beautiful as always. Lay Myself Down - Mazzy Star Common Burn/Lay Myself Down Single 2011

Jesse Marchant is a Montreal born musician who puts together some of the most beautiful guitar driven arrangements that are meticulous and so well thought out. He is the kind of song-writer that will put his everything into an album and then need to take a break for awhile to digest all the emotion that went into creating these songs. This first full length album is honest and absolutely wonderful. In A Different Time - JBM Not Even In July [...]

Speechless. Shake It Out - Florence + The Machine Ceremonials 2011 (Universal Republic) Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way And all of the ghouls come out to play And every demon wants his pound of flesh But I like to keep some things to myself I like to keep my issues strong [...]

It is 6AM in the morning and I cannot even remember the last time I was up at this time but the special occasion today is that I am headed to Vegas to celebrate my best friends bachelorette party. I am so excited for this trip that has been in the making for longer than they have been engaged! So I thought I would send you off with something gritty and naughty from the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club . I hope everyone has an excellent week and I will think of you all while I am abusing my liver [...]

When I first heard the new third full length album from Wally De Backer I hated it. Literally turned it off and moved on. I didn't think I would come back to it at the time but I did. It has grown on me so much from the first listen. A dark and mysterious pop album that is quite unique. There are a few songs that I know will make my end of year list for sure, Eyes Wide Open, Somebody That I Used To Know and Smoke and Mirrors are amazing. The [...]

Tonight a song from Youth Lagoon to take us into the weekend. The verdict is still out on this debut pop album from Trevor Powers. I think it is still growing on me and I am giving it some well deserved time. Trevor Powers is currently on a 29 state tour that is coming to an end at the beginning of November, catch him while you can. It has been quiet around here... Right now I feel like I am being pulled into so many different directions and any down time I do have is dedicated [...]

So I am just now sitting down to talk about the James Vincent McMorrow show at the Bootleg Theater on September, 24th... First off, can I just say that the Bootleg Theater is my new favorite venue. Super intimate and chill, but also totally LA. I love it. And I am really excited that they are adding some of my favorite singer-songwriters to their event lineup. This is the same theater where I saw my dearest Alexi Murdoch . William [...]

This was unexpected. I never imagined I would hear Feist's new album and listen to it on constant repeat for an entire week straight. It took me off guard and has held me captive with the range of emotional intense arrangements such as the opening, The Bad In Each Other to the stark delicate melodies of, Cicadas And Gulls . Leslie Feist has gone big, this is far different from her last album, The Reminder and I guess I just didn't think it could get much better than that. [...]

I originally posted about Boy & Bear here . From the time I heard their single, Mexican Mavis I was obsessed. Their debut full length, Moonshine was released in August and I am in love. It exceeded my expectations. Their sound is big, with busy rhythms and soaring harmonies. Fantastic. I have an itch to see them live and I am in luck as they are currently on tour and in town next week . Check it. Moonshine [...]
