Once again... Days later. I have so much to share and I am so very behind. But I will get to it all :-) Thank goodness for music. mp3: Rain (Setting Out In Leaf Boat) The Innocence Mission My Room in the Trees 2010 ( Badman Recording Co. ) Amazon and eMusic

Something to kick off the work week! I am ready to make this week my bitch. Hope it is a great one. xx mp3: Favourite Food Champ 2010 ( Mom & Pop Music ) Amazon and eMusic

I have fallen in love with Strand Of Oaks ... The biography on the man behind the name, Timothy Showalter makes your heart ache. He pours that all into beautifully chilling songs that are real and honest. Take notice. Also, check out his 2009 album Leave Ruin . mp3: Kill Dragon Pope Killdragon 2010 ( eMusic Selects ) Like [...]

Went to see a little world music singer-songwriter concert at the Hollywood Bowl put on by the wonderful public radio station KCRW on my birthday this past Sunday and it really exceeded my expectations... Which is saying a lot because I was pretty excited. The Breakdown: The Bird and The Bee were the first act to hit the stage. A folk duo infused with electro synth pop consisting of Inara George (The Bird) and Greg Kurstin (The Bee) along with some other awesome band members who [...]
I will have a new post tomorrow all about the lovely concert I saw over the weekend. Until then. xx Like Unlike

It was a rather rough day today... Mondays always seem to suck. Puma thought it was play time at 4:30am in the morning and then just as I was falling back to sleep she woke me up again. She is so lucky she is cute. Then I had an early morning doctor appointment, never a good time. And of course a full day of work, ewww. This is going to be a very long week I think... So tonight something a little ethereal to take us away to somewhere other than sleepless [...]

I like this album, beautiful folk. mp3: Only A Song Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore Dear Companion 2010 ( Sub Pop ) Amazon and eMusic I wouldn't make a sound if I wasn't so angry. I wouldn't be around if it wasn't so far to go. I wouldn't keep on [...]

Must shake this day off. It sucked. I have stronger words but lets just leave it at that... I have been trying to go to my zen place all day but it has not been working. I don't know if it is just the going back to work after a long weekend thing or that I am just flat out of sorts. Tonight I need something familiar and comforting. Amy Millan can always soothe my soul. Her 2009 full length solo album is beautiful from beginning to end and just what I needed to [...]

I really had a rough time figuring out what the heck I was going to share tonight... Nothing was striking my fancy until I remembered Damien Jurado's new album, Saint Bartlett . The music is richer than his previous work and you just want to sit back and take it all in. Good night. xx p.s. it is the first day of July, which means my birthday is in exactly 17 days. mp3: Rachel & Cali [...]

So I kind of took a impromptu vacay from the little bloggy blog. Life kind of just caught up with me for a moment. I have been thinking about posting for days, just couldn't get within typing distance. But I am here now! Yay! Came across Sarah Jaffe, her full length debut was released back in April... She certainly caught my ear with her emotional singer-songwriter folk, one listen and you will be hooked just as I was. Enjoy! xx mp3: Summer Begs [...]

(this album cover freaks me out a little though) L O V E. There is really nothing else to say other than, LOVE . I love the soaring indie pop of, Stars . Catch them as they travel East on the final leg of their tour. mp3: Dead Hearts The Five Ghosts 2010 ( Arts & Crafts ) Amazon and eMusic

Read wonderful news today... New Radiohead coming late this year... Yes please! They say it is something totally different but I trust that is nothing but good news. I am excited but trying not to think it over too much as I don't want to jinx anything. In honor of this excellent news here is an acoustic version from a recoding based in Los Angeles in 1994. I don't know which I love more, the original full version or this acoustic treat... It is a tough one. mp3: Banana [...]

I feel like I have been sitting in traffic most of the week... I am angry, need to train myself to just chill out. Let it roll off my back... It is hard, a constant struggle of knowing that all these little petty annoyances are nothing in the grand scheme of things. I know this. Just need to constantly apply it in my day to day life. This song has always put me at ease. The beat calms my soul and the voice on Beth Gibbons makes all my troubles go away. It shuffled on in [...]

So ever since I first listened to Dead Heart Bloom I have pretty much fallen head over heals in love with their music. I want to give the whole band a big hug, scream their name from the top of a mountain so everyone knows just how awesome they are. It only takes one listen to fall in love with them. Everyone I have suggested them to has adored their music and then recommended it to a few other people and so on and so on... This makes me ever so happy inside. [...]

I had a one-track mind today, The Twilight: Eclipse Soundtrack. As I have mentioned before I could care less about the movie or the books, but I do know the music is always going to be good. It is certain that you will find a favorite song, maybe a few. When I heard Heavy In Your Arms from Florence + The Machine, my heartbeat started to increase. I might have even squealed and jumped around a bit... I love the deep booming bass along with Florence Welch's wailing vocals, this song is [...]

The translation of La Vie En Rose is Life through rose-colored glasse s. I want to see the world through rose-colored glasses. So tonight, I went back in time... Perfection. mp3: La Vie En Rose All Time Greatest Hits 1994 ( Geffen )

Hey all, Pip here, long time no see! This little happy gem of a movie is brought to us by Jean-Pierre Jeunet: the genius behind everyone's favorite Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (or just Amelie for us). This film takes place in that same fantasy world. In fact it is so fantastical, the eye of the camera is so free, it's closer to an animated film most of the time than anything. The story is pretty simple, and somewhat melancholy in its setup. A boy loses his father to a landmine, the army even sends a picture of the [...]

I have to wonder why on short work weeks they always seem to take the longest to go by... I think this is just a "Rachel issue" but seriously it feels like it has been 2 work weeks already and we still have one more day to go. Sigh. So I spent an hour in traffic on my way home today when usually it is about a 30 min drive door to door, I felt defeated... I put my iPod on (my savior) and smiled when The Middle East shuffled on, they are playing [...]

I melt when I hear Laura Marling sing... Melt into a puddle on the ground. Her smokey singer-songwriter folk songs combine with deep complicated lyrics, impressive... Beautiful. I love this new album... mp3: Goodbye England (Covered In Snow) I Speak Because I Can 2010 ( Astralwerks )
