The Books' new album The Way Out is released on Temporary Residence in July, and I absolutely can't wait. I may be strange to have a band like the Books as one of your all time favorites, but they definitely are for me. The fact that everyone the band knows claims it to be their best album yet just gets me even more excited to hear it. Two new songs from two very highly anticipated albums. I think Band of Horses has the edge as far as my excitement to hear it, but The National's new album should be just as good. Can't wait. Freelance Whales were one of my favorite bands last year and I'm pretty happy they're finally getting the exposure they deserve. Stars are finally releasing a new album called Five Ghosts on June 22, 2010 and I couldn't be more excited. The first track is "Fixed" and has Stars' classic sound written all over it. Shutter Island This was one of those movies where reading the book first actually ruined the movie experience a bit for me in the end. Scorcese does such a good job retelling the book both visually and in casting the parts, that the obvious feeling of knowing everything that's to come creeps up and you almost have no desire to finish the movie. That being said, I can only fault the movie on my very biased situation. For the rest of you, there's no reason not to see Shutter Island. It captures the mood [...]

Greenberg is the new film from Noah Baumbach (Squid and the Whale), starring Ben Stiller as a down on his luck forty-something guy looking to start over and reconnect with friends. Of course, this being a Baumbach film, his luck doesn't improve much on his journey and he gets humiliated time and time again. The Squid and the Whale was a great movie, despite its rather depressing look at a family dealing with divorce, and I imagine Greenberg will be more of the same. MGMT - Flash Delirium Not sure what to think of this new offering from MGMT. I don't want to join the masses out there saying they're trying to fit too many influences and styles into one song, but they're definitely not wrong. I'm used to dancing away to most songs on their last album, and this one really wouldn't work too well at a dance party. Unless we were all on drugs I guess.
