At the beginning of the year Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters announced out of a sudden that they've finished recording the band's seventh studio full length, leaving Foo fans and reminiscing grunge fanatics incredibly anxious. Not much is known about it, except from what Grohl already told us, namely that old Nirvana buddy Krist Novoselic plays bass somewhere on the record and that it's the "heaviest [Foo Fighters] work to date." To be exact, it was two days ago (Tuesday, January 11) and it's called "H.A.M." The single is taken from the forthcoming album he made with Jay-Z called Watch The Throne , due out sometime in March . So that supergroup I raved about a while back has their entire album, Ironiclast , available for streaming over at Ultimate Guitar's website. Upon first listen, it's a lot of fun. It's (really) old school metallic hard rock. Nothing too complex: great riffs, anthemic choruses, wily solos - you get the idea. The new Daft Punk soundtrack for one of the most anticipated theatrical release of 2010, Tron: Legacy , is slated for tomorrow, and this latest hype builder of a music video for Derezzed , which premiered just earlier today, does nothing but amplify the sentiment. Nothing too much to say about the video, other that it's quite awesome - the duo enter the film's legendary Flynn's Arcade setting where they get sucked into Tron's marvelous video game world and have the time of their lives. Last night Conan's eccentric show, which featured the host wearing ladies' jeggings and the three Kardashian sisters on the same couch, which is three too many, was topped by a sharp performance of Deerhunte r's "Helicopter" off the band's latest full length effort, the recently released " Halcyon Digest ". The guy behind American Hardcore: A Tribal History , a book detailing the history of hardcore punk that later spawned a film , has uploaded 24 hours of hardcore punk (911 songs). The set contains all the logical inclusions: D.R.I., Black Flag, Bad Religion, NOFX, and Scream (the band Dave Grohl was in before Nirvana). Apparently, SOAD will be co-headlining next year's Rock am Ring and Rock im Ring . Supposedly. Same goes for the Download Festival next year. Damon Albarn and his Gorillaz , helped out by singer Daley, played a wonderful three song set for BBC's Radio One, of which their new single "Doncamatic" and "On Melancholy Hill". However the highlight of the show was the unexpected cover of The xx 's barren, yet touching "Crystalised", which the band performed remarkably and even more stripped down than the original - just acoustic guitar, piano, and xylophone. One of 20102s best albums is without a doubt Deerhunter 's Halcyon Digest , a record which excites senses and triggers soulful introspection. My favorite track off the LP is "Helicopter" and below you can see the visuals which transfigure the sound in the official video. As reported last week, Sam Bean and his alt-folk band Iron & Wine will be releasing a new album in early 2011. Captioned above is the official art work for Kiss Each Other Clean , a captivating illustration of what seems to be Beam (beard and outfit kinda gives him away) surrounded by water in a colorful line and shape world. After a series of intense reunion tour dates and a recently released platinum awarded compilation album , albeit released bundled with Guitar Hero cards, Soundgarden rocked the house last night for Coco with two great tracks off Telephantasm . The band first started with "Black Rain", a previously unreleased studio leftover from the Badmotorfinger sessions, after which a seemingly rehabilitated Chris Cornell and co. jumped to "Hunder Down", the band's first single released in 1987.
