Chicago's Riot Fest has revealed its 2013 lineup. The punk and alternative rock festival takes place September 13th - 15th in Humbolt Park. Drake has recruited Frank Ocean and James Blake to perform at the 2013 edition of his annual OVO Festival, set for August 4th and 5th at Molson Ampitheatre in Toronto. Ocean and Blake will both take the stage on the 4th, while Drizzy will deliver a full headlining set on the 5th. Drake will undoubtedly surprise the masses with guests, as everyone from Eminem to Jay-Z to Lil Wayne has made unannounced appearances in the past. John Darnielle a.k.a. The Mountain Goats will reissue his end-of-an-era album All Hail West Texas on July 23rd via Merge Records. As legend and a press release tell us, it's the final album on which Darnielle used a condenser mic in his Panasonic boombox to record his early material. Originally released in 2002, All Hail West Texas features "fourteen songs about seven people, two houses, a motorcycle, and a locked treatment facility for adolescent boys." The original 14 songs will be remastered, and the reissue will feature seven previously unreleased tracks from cassettes recorded [...]

Cedric Bixler-Zavala, formerly of The Mars Volta and At The Drive-In, has launched a brand new project. Zavalaz - which is just Zavala with an extra z - also features guitarist Dan Elkan (Them Hills, Broken Bells), drummer Gregory Rogove (Megapuss), and bassist Juan Alderete de la Peña (The Mars Volta, Racer X). They'll hit the road together next month for a series of shows along the West Coast. London electronic duo Mount Kimbie team up with neo-soul singer King Krule for "You Took Your Time", one of two such collaborations featured on the pair's sophomore LP, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth . With Mount Kimbie laying down a futuristic jazz beat of wub-by synths and kinetic drums, Krule provides heavily-accented vocals that blur the line between croon and sing-talk. And as the duo build the track to a chaotic and fevered pitch, Krule is right there with them offering random yelps and wailing. Listen in below. [...]

Channeling much of the raw, but inventive R&B stylings that appeared on last year's Slow To Love , Brooklyn singer-songwriter Doe Paoro embraces old soul in a new way on her latest track, "New Lows". The skittering number, including its deep-dipping, sashaying beat, complement her well-toned vocals, and showcase her ability to stretch from haunting croon to burning wail without breaking stride. In March 2010, Big Star' s Jody Stephens honored late band mate Alex Chilton with an impromptu all-star performance of the band's 1978 classic, Third (later Sister Lovers ), during South by Southwest. Google has announced plans to for a streaming music service that will compete with existing services like Spotify, Pandora and Rdio. Today at the company's I/O keynote speech, they unveiled Google Play Music All Access. The service will allow users to stream millions of songs on their web browser, mobile phone, and tablets. Other features include curated radio stations and personalized music recommendations based on listening history. All Access is priced at $9.99 a month following a 30-day free trial. After popping up in various live DJ sets, "Earthquake", the earth-shattering trap collab between Diplo and DJ Fresh , will finally see an official release. The track, which also features the vocals of R&B artist Dominique Young Unique (replacing what once were B.I.G. samples), will appear on Fresh's forthcoming 2014 album and also in the superhero action-comedy, Kick-Ass 2 , due out this summer.
