My first reaction was "Someone needs to get a jobby job." But then what the hell would entertain me at my job? Jarvis Cocker recording with Steve Albini? I can dig it. Jarvis Cocker - Angela If you put your name on a mailing list over at his website you can get the song for free! Posted in mp3, music Tagged: Angela, Jarvis Cocker, Steve Albini

So I got caught up in the hype of Pearl Jam's Ten reissue . I didn't drop the money on the Super Ultra Mega Edition, but I listened to the new mix and enjoyed it well enough. Stripping off the canned reverb really, um, puts Ed's vocals... out front and, uh... "in-your-face"? I don't know. Anyway, a couple days ago I discovered that their drummer from this period, Dave Abbruzzese, has started his own YouTube channel. It's quite the little treasure trove of early-era Pearl Jam videos. Check this one out: [...]

I'm a little late to the party but this is the best thing I've seen in a while. Posted in music, video Tagged: drummer, Korean

I'm sort of a grudging supporter of Ms. Palmer . Although I thinks she's very talented, I never had much interest in The Dresden Dolls . And even though I appreciate her over-the-top-ness , I find the chosen aesthetic a bit cheesy. But I like her. She spoke out against her record label , Roadrunner, when they wanted shots of her "unflattering" belly fat taken out of her video. And she was vocally opposed to Warner Music Group (Roadrunner's parent company) pulling its content from YouTube. And [...]

Not sure how I missed this yesterday. http://www.nin.com/pub/strobel ight/ Posted in music Tagged: Nine Inch Nails, Strobe Light, Trent Reznor

So, yeah, Kanye's new video uses the same video compression effect, but these cats did it better. And after three or so listens the song is growing on me too. But seriously, don't waste you time with the crappy YouTube video below. Watch it here: http://www.court13.com/Chairli ft-EvidentUtensil.mov Posted in music, video Tagged: Chairlift, Evident Utensil

Live in Minneapolis, 1983 , a year before it was released. Enjoy it while you can. Awesome. Posted in music, video, youtube Tagged: Let's Go Crazy, live, Prince
Poor Eddie gets a bad rap sometimes. Just because he uses his fame and influence to speak out on such downer issues as the environment, womens rights, the Iraq war, the West Memphis Three , uhh... Man, that guy sounds like a fuckin' drag. Wait, no! He's also a notorious drunk! Big points there, right? It also turns out he's a great karaoke singer and an all around good sport. Head over to Bunny With Fangs to check out his rendition of U2's "Where The Streets Have No Name" at some hotel bar. [...]
Blah blah blah Weezer , blah blah blah "Windowlicker". Who cares? It's pretty funny. Actually Sophia is freakin' hilarious.

Just because you're playing Maiden doesn't take away from the fact the you, sir, are a harpist.

This is both the coolest and lamest thing I have ever seen. Mostly lame. Apparently this Edd Kalehoff guy wrote the theme song to The Price is Right . Way to wail on that thing, nerd!

It seems that the internet has given music videos a new life. Knowing that you can find an audience without relying on MTV and being able to shoot and edit a video for super cheap has let artists take some pretty serious risks that never would have been possible before. Check out this one.

Probably too late for Christmas, but pretty cool any way. You can get them here though it looks like she's sold out of the 808s. Damn you Kanye!

Here's another one of those things I can't believe I've never heard before. Seriously. I love the pedal steel and I love the talk box, so how could this have alluded me? Espescially considering it was actually a hit song. And even with the oddity/gimmick factor aside, it's still a great song.

My cousin sent me this video a couple weeks ago. We discussed the various connections we each have to the band and label (he knows the singer, I played a couple shows with one of the guitar player's other band, Josh from Wantage lived in our hometown) and agreed it was the greatest thing either of us had seen in a while. Directed by Whitey McConnaughy !

Apparat's album Walls has stayed on my MP3 player pretty much all summer. With it's combination of glitchy drums and orchestral flourishes it shouldn't be too surprising that I'm a fan. And since I just heard this song on Showtimes' hot-shit-fall-line-up ad I'm sure you'll all be clamoring for it soon enough. Most of the album is instrumental and pretty mellow, so if you're looking for the end of summer banger get The Bug's London Zoo instead. Actually, just get them both. mp3: Apparat - Hailin From The Edge [...]
Although I tend to find documentaries that have people talking about how great and important the subject is for 90 minutes to be a little weak, Lemmy Kilmister is certainly worthy of an hoursworth of cocksucking. If you've ever seen The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years (and you should have) Lemmy is the only person in it who doesn't end up looking like a complete douche by basically being a badass the entire time. While I'm totally not surprised [...]

You missed my birthday. Even after the long post on my birthday about my birthday . It's probably safe to assume you didn't get me a gift, huh? Even after dropping a little hint about what I might want . You can still make it up to me. Get me one of these t-shirts: Or even either of these: [...]
Everyone will certainly recognize this aria from Bizet's opera Carmen . I love the Muppets but this is a whole new level of hilarity. This one's for Derek.
