This inevitable moment of much anticipation has finally arrived. I know you're going to do just as good as before. Don't Fuck up Welcome back bro!

Myself and Mandu caught the full band show from Beaufort last night in Sydney as a part of the launch for the dude's new feature film(!) Tiger. The movie looks great and some of the vignettes that Beaufort and co. played were pretty wonderful. This in particular, She Don't Care. Think pristine '80s pop with wonk lyrics. It's increasingly rare that you can stumble across a song that is so utterly perfect that you fall in love immediately like a 16 year old kid hearing their first vocoder line. But that's what's happened to me and the CSLSX track Futuretapes. This tune sounds is kind of in a league of its own in that it doesn't sound like anything else right now. Sure the synthy style is du jour, but here it's done in this booming, cluttered fashion that's constantly twisting, turning and surprising for four terrific minutes. If I were still doing [...]

Labrador dudes The Mary Onettes dropped this tune, The Night Before The Funeral, in conjunction with Record Store Day and as always it's a pearl. Dramatic string arrangements and that dense production that they've completely mastered. Grab it. The Mary Onettes - The Night Before The Funeral [ YS ] MYSPACE

So yeah this track has been remixed into oblivion, and by some seriously great artists no less. So before you shake your head, cross your arms and say 'no, sir I will not download another remix' just cool your jets and know that you'd be missing out on something pretty terrific if you were to do so. So, uh, don't! This new mix comes courtesy of Fool's Gold - the collective of indie crazies, not the NYC label - and twists Marina into some more wonderful electronic positions. Stuttered vocals are a must. [...]

Pony Pony Run Run have gone and staked their claim for this week's blog domination, releasing a giant sized remix package for their tune Walking On A Line. Re-rubs come courtesy of folks like The Subs, French Fries, Beataucue and a whole bunch of other producers I've never heard of since dropping out of the daily hunt for exclusive bangorz. But if anything gets my attention it's a new Lifelike remix and his take on the tune is nothing short of vintage Lifelike. Clouds of synth-smoke billow, the bass and drums may as well be fused together [...]

Speak have got some serious heat behind them right now, and thankfully they've got the energetic pop rock chops to back that buzz up. As an indication of the big things ahead, they've already received the remix treatment from every electro blogger's favourite, RAC , and Andre was kind enough to hook us up with the file for blogging. Grab the mix below for some extremely funky pop goodness. Speak - Carrie (RAC Remix) [ YS ] MYSPACE

Thinking back to 2007 - a time when I still had to worry about uni, living in Canberra and imminent rise of whatever 'blog house' was - and the reasons why I started Hyperbole, aside from being the ideal outlet for my grand ambitions as a music journalist (unlike uni, Canberra and blog house, this has remained constant) one of the driving forces behind Hyperbole's beginning was my massive hard-on for Midnight Juggernauts. This was ahead of their album release and I had been essentially in love with them for over a year. Somehow I had an advance [...]

The Aston Shuffle are back again with another slice of delirious clubby goodness. There's been some discussion on the Grindin network about the boys, but really it couldn't be more simple. This is straight-forward, effective, fun dance music. Squiggling synths, machine drums, loads of bass and some fuzzy vocoders. Great. Don't overthink things here, sometimes you just gotta dance for a few minutes. The Aston Shuffle - I Wanna See You [ YS ] The Aston Shuffle - I Wanna See You (DCUP Remix) [ YS ] [...]

Man, Light Year are just terrific. The Sydney duo take things back to when electro was yet to be overrun by lousy imitators and scene jumpers, and hadn't splintered off into a bajillion little sub genres. Crushing synths, pounding drums, ear-wormy melodies, oh shit, is this the return of the banger? I hope so. Whatever it is, you definitely need their Bang Gang 12 Inches produced EP in your life. Light Year - Troublesome [ YS ] MYSPACE

Wolf Gang have been on my radar for what seems like an age now. Perhaps that's just because I'm dreadfully impatient and just want to hear an album already. Sigh. Although that's probably some months off, we do now get a tasty new demo from the camp Wolf Gang, Back To Back, which builds slowly into a soaring and smooth falsetto ballad. Lovely stuff. Fuzzed out garage jangle never sounded so pleasant than with what Pure Ecstasy are doing. The Texas outfit are dropping a 7" on the esteemed Acephale imprint real soon and we're lucky enough to have the first taste of that to share with you. Check it below and feel a lil' wavey. Did I tell you about Softwar , or what? From humble beginnings as DFA-centric Sydney boys to fully realised modern disco standouts, Softwar have shot up quick and damn am I chuffed for them. Their latest gem sees them reworking Groove Armada's Paper Romance, a pretty big get for any young producer out there. Check it below and believe the hype. Figures in the Australian industry were undoubtedly gobsmacked when local beer makers Tooheys Extra Dry announced their most recent music project, The Lab , which offered one lucky local band the chance to hit New York and record with Mark Ronson. Not only that but they'd have Sean Lennon, Alby Hammy Jr, Santigold, John Taylor (boom!) and others come in each day to contribute to the song writing process. Oh and then the tune would be mixed by Dave Fucking Sitek. So all in all it was competition of load busting proportions, and now we have the recipient of [...]

We ran this last week on inthemix and considering that Classixx were the blog darlings of 2009 - and only getting more darling in 2010 - I figure it'd make sense to throw it up here too. Have a read and grab the Douster remix of I'll Get You Below too. Hey guys it's Dave from inthemix, how's it going? Hey dude, yeah everything is good, we're just in Los Angeles having some downtown before we head over to Australia. Oh okay, so you've got a [...]

Sydney's (oof, more Sydney people!) Beaufort has been suspiciously quiet over the last six months or so, but now we know why. Beaufort has been prepping a new movie, yes movie, called Tiger, which is looking like The Beautiful Life meets Lost In Translation, except not shitty like the former. Naturally the film brings with it new Beaufort tunes, including Kraken below, which is a total burner, and is probably scoring a rowdy night Rippongi nightclub scene in the film. Grab the track below and look out for more really soon. Beaufort - Kraken [...]

Softwar are a bunch of clever kids from Sydney who have been making some stealthy disco waves for a while now, just below the uber-blog consciousness. I cottoned on to 'em early last year but the dudes didn't have anything to share back then. Now their profile is on the up and it's finally time to get some blog lovin'. So impressed that they've now cozied up to Kitsune, first remixing the new Two Door Cinema Club single, and next up they'll be releasing their new tune Heartbeats on that famous French label. Check out the remix and an [...]

The whole bloggers union admittedly has a huge crush on The Drums right now. After their splendid Summertime EP blew away expectations and revived poppy surf-rock, they've become the band to watch in 2010, and that's exactly what I've been doing (from the bush outside their house). Next up for the beach-dreamers is single Best Friend, which sounds like a fittingly gleeful prelude to their debut LP. Here's the Olympic mix of that track as premiered on RCRDLBL. Catch the download below or head to RCRDLBL for it and a bunch of other Drums jams all [...]

Here's Sydney squad Yen , more charming kids with hard ons for clappy, danceable indie pop. They've been gigging about town winning over any crowd in their path and I'm thinking this just the first bite of something excellent. See for yourself. Yen - Closer To Love [ YS ] MYSPACE

Call this is an outpouring of sneaky promotion if you will, but the gentle folk at my office inthemix combined with the loverboys over at Future Classic to unload on us one hell of a tasty synth jam in the form of the new Arithmatix! remix for Mario Basanov's Do You Remember. The tune comes from Future Classic's Apres vinyl series, and once again finds Arithmatix/Michael Di Francesco dabbling in syrupy synth-pop glee. Check the sequencer workout and rock steady beat, it's unstoppable. Hit the links below for the download or find [...]
