We got a nice e-mail from Tel Aviv label Botanika that was full of goodies and included the excellent Mark Flash (Underground Resistance) Detroit flavoured remix of the recent single by Polar Pair that features some great spoken word from Atlantis. London DJ Sam Young collaborated with Long Beach rapper Aphletik for the recent single 'Peep This' which is out on Plant Music and includes remixes from Beatnik and Steed Lord as well as this fidgety bomb from Lee Mortimer . You might remember the Daedelus and Jogger split release we mentioned a few months back called 'Friends of Friends' and there's a remixed version which is out on July 28th. The new 'Mad Mahoney' EP from German collective ACIDKIDS is the debut release on their own label and it's all fat basslines with anthemic synth action. Chromeo return for the DJ-KICKS mix in two years and true to the series standard their selection takes in the more overlooked side of eighties pop and disco that you won't hear anywhere else. It's all robo-funk basslines and plastic handclaps and includes tracks from Leo Sayer, France Joli and The Alan Parsons Project plus more contemporary cuts from the likes of Lifelike and Chateau Marmont. There's also a cover version the Eagles track 'I Can't Tell You Why' which is available for download here .
Brooklyn based duo Tanlines are Jesse Cohen from Professor Murder and Eric Emm of production duo Brothers (Telepathe, Free Blood, !!!). They came to prominence early last year with a remix of Telepathe's track 'Chromes On It' which was followed by a debut release on Young Turks . This remix of 'London Town' by Man Like Me has been out a couple of months but we missed it and it's by our favourite Thug House producer Dances With White Girls . 'Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places' is a major new London installation and exhibition by graffiti artist INSA in association with the IAM1 Journey project by Nike Sportwear . Presented by Protein TV it opens this Friday at 1948 on Batemans Row in Shoreditch and promises to be a mix of large scale installations, canvases, photography, prints, exclusive products and a stunning animation made up of 35 frames which were hand painted across east London in seven days. The new single 'IC192 from Buraka Som Sistema is out next monday with remixes from James Talk, A1 Bassline, Mikix the Cat and Deathface. It will also be available in the US as part of the Mad Decent Tour EP featuring mixes from Toadally Krossed Out, Toy Selectah and DJ Sega. The latest mixtape 'Blood Diamond' was produced by J-WOW aka DJ LilJohn and is described as 'a different version of an album we would have made if clearing samples wasn't an issue'.
