i'm getting to the stage where i'm (finally) starting to recognize popular samples - but still not know where they're from. this month-old track has influences i can't quite place - there's definitely a sprinkle of 'asian' and for once it doesn't leave a bad taste. Forget the headlines and whether Frank Ocean has an interest in men or women. Big ups to him for being brave enough to fight stereotypes and homophobia in the hip hop community and with music like this its not wonder everyone is talking about him.
I have been listening to this mixtape for the past few weeks and thought I should get around to sharing it with you all. If you haven't had a chance to listen to the latest from Charli XCX get on that now. She is a refreshing new comer to pop music and much like Grimes is taking her own approach to making music.
