Coldplay's groove returns on their highly anticipated fifth studio album "Mylo Xyloto." Chris Martin describes this endeavour as a love story with a happy ending and credits inspiration from 1970's American graffiti to the White Rose Movement. Their sound has evolved but is still recognizable as classic Coldplay. Early adopters of their sound will appreciate this album as much as the newbie listener as the band delivers a rich mix of inspiration and heartbreak. The album's first official single 'Paradise,' offers a visual of this clash, with Martin's vocals offering a life raft to your drowning heart. [...]
My favourite late-night talk show host and the guy who is probably very grateful he broke up with Britney Spears when he did, are at it again. Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake performed the third installment of what has become a series called "The History of Rap". Part 3 takes us from LL Cool J ( Mama Said Knock You Out ) to Naughty by Nature ( Hip Hop Hooray ) with quick visits with Sir Mix-a-Lot ( Baby Got Back ); The Fresh Prince and D.J. Jazzy Jeff ( Parents Just Don't Understand ); Coolio ( Gangsta's [...]

Each time I listen to this one, I turn it up. Jeremiah Jae not only masters sampling but allows you to escape, even down to the last few dwindling seconds as he rhymes to the old school inspired beat. Jae was swept under the wing of Flying Lotus and his since released a multitude of mixtapes, many of which Lotus said ironically inspired him. Jae's latest is Lunch Special Part 4, which is said to be, "a collection of new, old, rare, and completely raw joints." Below: "Wake Me." Jeremiah [...]

I have little time to check out new music, so I have to hear a few good tracks before I take a listen to an entire album anymore. This one is for sure worth the investment, so give it a listen, the following are two of my favourite tracks from the album. M83- Midnight City M83-Raconte Moi Une Histoire Share and Enjoy:

Probably the only act I saw at NXNE this year that didn't disappoint me, yah I'm looking at you Cults, Grimes is back doing what she does best. The Canadian synth pop act is set for super stardom if she keeps this shit up. Grimes- Oblivion Share and Enjoy:

I feeling pretty nostalgic tonight, I had a crazy long day and I got to hang out with some new friends as much fun as that was it made me miss all my friends back home. It's been raining a shit load here lately, sunniest city in Ontario my ass, but yah I put my ipod onto a playlist I made in 2008 and it reminded me just how amazing the teenangers are. One of the best concerts I have ever been too, and pretty cool guys too having gotten the chance hang out with them after the [...]

Mr. Abel Tesfaye better known as "The Weeknd" is a man of mystery with a lot of buzz. Getting his start by uploading three songs to his YouTube account earlier this year to now releasing his much-anticipated third mixtape, he has had quite a successful year. The Weeknd released his first mixtape 'House of Balloons' in March his second 'Thursday', in August and just recently dropped the first single off his forthcoming 'Echoes of Silence' mixtape that will complete the triology in November. His melodic melancholy draws you in and makes you remember how [...]

Oh gosh! It's been a while since I've posted. I'm sorry for my absence. My work life has been crazy busy. I started a new job a little over 2 months ago, and it's been quite the experience so far. Back to music... This past week, tickets for Bon Iver's added North American tour dates to their December touring schedule. I was lucky enough to score a pair of pre-sale tickets to their December 6th show at Toronto's Massey Hall. It's been a while since I've had to fork out $60+ for [...]

The Very Best are killing it, I have yet to hear anything from these guys that doesn't impress me. The Very Best- Super Mom feat Baloji Share and Enjoy:

Seduce - To entice or beguile into a desired state or position. I will readily admit that I am easily seduced by good music. It doesn't have to be a certain genre or artist or style, just so long as it is good. Pat Grossi has done just that, he has me beguiled by his stunning debut album, You Are All I See ( Vagrant Records ). This is an incredible album that weds both the old and the new in an intelligent and natural manner that is very refreshing. The album [...]

For any Star Slinger fans, the DJ will be playing a show in Toronto on Tuesday, November 2nd at The Horseshoe Tavern with openers Shlohmo and Shigeto. Star Slinger recently released his first official single Dumbin after remixing the likes of Drake, Washed Out and The Weeknd. Share and Enjoy:

"New disco" is what many are classifying chameleon Daniel Snaith's ulterior effort known as Daphni . Yes, I Know is wickedly surprising with Snaith warping the old school disco vibe in ways only he can. Daphni released a split 123 entitled Ye Ye/Pinnacles with Four Tet back in March 2011, this particular single being Snaith's newest material since 20102s Swim . Daphni - Yes, I Know by Caribouband Share and Enjoy:

Upon the discovery of Pure X I had an odd feeling of excitement. Their spaced out, 902s indie rock tone gave me tinges of Beach House and GIRLS, with Pure X bouncing sexual innuendos and setting the mood. Dream Over is cool, spontaneous and sensual and can be found off the Austin, Texas trio's album Pleasure , out now. Pure X- Dream Over Share and Enjoy:

If you read this blog or know me well then you know I have moved to Windsor to study law, fortunately for me Detroit is right across the river and they get a few decent shows. As I was crossing the border the border agent told me not to park on the street because my car would get broken into, the certainty in his voice I found rather amusing but none the less I listened and parked at a hospital that was around the corner from the venue. For real, I love Detroit it's a real city and [...]

Normally when the weather starts to get a bit colder I stop listening to anything that reminds me remotely of summer, mostly because it just furthers my longing to be warm again. This track however I will make an exception, I'll just sit beside my radiator or something and pretend. Real Estate- Green Aisle Share and Enjoy:

so far the best album of the year, if you haven't listened to it yet get on that asap. Girls-Honey Bunny Share and Enjoy:

This soft spoken track has been on repeat on my itunes since I first heard it. Youth Lagoon-Afternoon Share and Enjoy:

Rostam Batmanglij, better knows as that guy in Vampire Weekend, has stepped away from his side project (Discovery) and has finally recorded some solo stuff. The song takes a bit for me to get into, but I really appreciate that Rostam is looking to his roots for some inspiration on this one. The folksy persian vibe really meshes well with his soft vocals, I'm really feeling this song and hoping ever so much that Rostam releases a full length album within the next while. Rostam- Wood Share [...]

BRAIDS is composed of Raphaelle Standell-Preston, Austin Tufts, Katie Lee and Taylor Smith When I was offered the chance to interview Montreal based band BRAIDS , I knew I'd be foolish to forfeit the opportunity. BRAIDS are rare. They unequivocally rose to the top of the Canadian music scene with their debut album Native Speaker, though it's the bands poise, newness and naivety which have won many over. Through a hectic North American tour and the preparation for the release of new music, Raphaelle Standell-Preston, lead vocalist, was kind enough to take some [...]
