A very smooth start to the year: Beach House- You came to Me (Z Share) (YSI) The December Sound snuck out their 'Silver Album' in December(Spooky)- Lots of psychedelic fuzz. Shoegaze is strong across the Atlantic at the moment: [...]

Last post of the year & it's a rare treat. Put up some tracks from the beautiful 'Ralf & Florian' record earlier this year, here is the album closer, 'Ananas Symphonie'. All 14 minutes of it. Comes across a bit like a Shoegazey Sigur Ros. Check out their myspace . Their influences include New York & Manchester. No mention of [...]

Aphex Twin was in Manny on Friday night making a rare appearance selecting discs at the WHP - A perfect opportunity to post some tracks by a true originator. His record 'Selected ambient works 85-92' is one of the great electronic albums, beautifully melodic. In many ways it sounds very under-produced, in parts the levels are all over the place. This only adds to the charm of the record, giving it a very 'live' feel which is very rare in electronic music. A record that you'll never tire of, if you don't own [...]

The weekend starts early round here- Out of town tomorrow so here are a few tracks for y'all. Bradford Cox has been a busy boy this year: His band Deerhunter have released an album, an E.P and toured the planet extensively. Something a little different today: I've asked some dear friends to provide some guest posts, first up is Sir Chip North. Chip has been a member of Sky Kissers INC since 1999 & once dated La Toya Jackson. Bit of a handful apparently.. Thought we'd start out with some light hearted Snoopy piano fun with Vincent Guaraldi. By the way readers, JPP looks a little like Schroeder, the kid from the cartoon show who's always playing the piano ; ) Vincent Guaraldi- Linus & Lucy (Z Share) (YSI) [...]

Went to the Warehouse Project on Friday night- A great improvement on last years venue, the only glitch was the inclement weather conditions the smokers had to endure. Green Velvet was my pick of the night, a shame he was on so early. Thumped out a great set of Techno/Electro, chucked in a few of his own tunes too. 'Has anybody seen my brain today?' Green Velvet- La La Land (Z Share) (YSI) Got my hands on Oblong's latest long player 'Indicator' recently. It's a very nice combination [...]

It's Friday & that means it's nearly Disco o'clock. And you can't get any more Disco than this: Harry Thumann's 'Underwater' pretty much sums up the whole genre. Harry Thumann- Underwater (Z Share) (YSI) Neuvo Disco- Boys Noize give Justice a good fisting: Justice- Phantom Pt 2 (Boys Noize remix) (Z Share) (YSI) On the other hand, if your planning a quiet weekend you could do a lot worse than wrapping yourself up in [...]

Optimo celebrate their 10th Birthday this weekend with a special double-header . These days any laptop jock can whip up a mix splicing genre's, Twitch & Wilkes have been bending styles together for years & are still top of the tree. They are true musical officandos, constantly digging for old gems & new talent. They are equally at home on the same bill as Os Mutantes as they are Ricardo Villalobos. Along the way they have introduced me to tunes that have gone onto become firm favorites, records that will stay with me forever. I've heard mumurings that [...]
Some tracks today by artists that i haven't yet posted about but really should have- Beck sneaked out 'Timebomb' in the summer, it's an electro fuzz stomper complete with resplendent hand claps. Beck- Timebomb (Z Share) (YSI) This Blues Explosion refix came out in 2004- !!! give the tune a dubby facelift & throw on some muck. Works nicely.. Blues Explosion- Hot Gossip (TMJ !!! mix) (Z Share) (YSI) New record due from The Kills in [...]
