From Skatterbrain . Thanks Matt. I know I'm a bit late in my goodbye, but I felt it important to mention. In case you don't already know, Indie-MP3 has finally closed it's internet doors. I knew Tom and Trev were getting pretty busy with all their LostMusic dealings, but I had always been oblivious to the fact that Indie-MP3 might one day be affected. I owe a great huge debt of gratitude to what they've been doing over there since 2001. It's in large part to Indie-MP3 – and also Roque's old blog Mira El [...]
For five years this was the column where Tom Bartlett and his contributors have been recommending and championing indiepop. Some was good, some was bad. Some I loved, some I thought 'what are they thinking about'. But this didn't matter at all. What they did for indiepop is what matters. Their taste became an authority: what they recommended ended up as a snowball, all the other little blogs would follow them. They were trend setters. Pretension wasn't their flag, their input was real and trustworthy, even if you didn't like what they recommended. The total opposite that Pitchfork does. [...]
The Lostmusic blog was formed out of the ashes of indie-mp3. We aim to blog about the best music that we find. Lostmusic also puts on pop shows and releases records and CDrs. We come across many great new bands. We like to share what we hear, what we like - be that some noisy oiks or some fragile indiepop. And all that comes in between. We hope you find something you like on our newly launched blog. It can be found here .
There will be the odd intermittent rambling from yours truly here in the future. This blog will also replace Are You Scared To Get Happy which I will pull in the new year and once I remember what my FTP password is! You had better grab what you want why it is still up. Apologies for the somewhat scary banner. It's work in progress at present.
Indie Pop News has been created to take care of the news in indie pop land that indie mp3 used to post about. This time it is a blog with a difference as the onus is on labels, artists etc to post directly to the blog themselves. To find out more and to get an account see the about page on the site.
I am archiving indie mp3 at http://jangle-pop.blogspot.com / . For the time being indie -mp3.co.uk will redirect to that domain name for the next few weeks or so but please update your bookmarks before then. Some images/tracks will disappear (sorry!) as I clear out the files on the old domain but the text (the important bit) will remain. Oh thanks for all the kind words in the farewell post!

Well all good things must come to an end! After running indie mp3 since 2001 (and before that the remarkably unpopular Tom's MP3 Reviews!) I think that we have taken it as far as we can. It's time to move on and concentrate even harder on the Lostmusic side of things. We will be launching a CDR label in January 2009 with the début album from Knight School (which we are pretty excited about!) and we have a new split 7" single with Moscow Olympics and The Morning Paper [...]

So here are the final 19 tracks that made the Readers Best Downloads Cut for 2009. Everything With You by The Pains Of being Pure At Heart was far and away the peoples choice for this year which considering our coverage of them is hardly a surprise! Both Cloudberry Records and Wee Pop artists were very popular. Surprisingly nobody raided the Series Two Records archives for their choices so if you get bored over the forthcoming holiday there is plenty to delve into there! The Track listing is: [...]

I have just read the sad news that was posted over on Stuffy/The Fuses My Space . The band have come to the end of the line. They have one last gig next January at The Windmill in Brixton. The band made one really good LP. It was 2nd in my 2007 best of list and it's a lot better that their statetment on my Space gives them credit for. If like me, you've yet to see them this is your last chance to do so. I'll [...]

The Hot Toddies are a new band on me. I've been listening to their My Space this past hour or so and on the strength of the songs have just ordered their début LP "Smell The Mitten". They describe their sound as blending 60's pop, doo-wop, and beautiful harmonies. And I can't really argue with that - the sweet sounding 'HTML' recalls the classic 60s girl group sound while "Motorscooter" is a joy filled guitar stomp (sounding a little like Slow Down Tallahassee to these ears). They have of course got the obligatory [...]
