Okay, so this is the first of what is (time and interest willing) going to be a regular feature on this here blog; (mostly) weekly mixes. I'm doing this mainly because I keep making them, and should probably do something with them. The mixes themselves may be based around a lyrical or musical theme, the bands themselves, or just stuff I've been listening to that week (I tend to get obssessed with a band/style of music in little spurts - at the moment, as you can probably tell, it's been dance and hip-hop). The inagural Weekend [...]

Image source Hey hey, it's time for some new(ish) music. Today, it be Bloc Party's new single, Flux. And it's a doozy. Flux sounds incredibly disimilar to pretty much any of the bands' output thus far, but it's a change for the better. Their sound was, in my opinion, not really going to stretch to another album of good indie-rock; if they did (or indeed, do) stick to that formula for album 3, they're going to go the way of The Futureheads. Aaaanyway, as I said, Flux is [...]

Steven Seagal has his own energy drink. It's called Steven Seagal's Lightning Bolt. Oh yes. According to the wbesite, it's "The First Of It's Kind"; apparently it's the first energy drink to contain 'Tibetan Goji Berries' and the first to contain 'Asian Cordyceps'. Having not tasted the drink, I cannot yet comment on whether there is a reason these ingrediants have never been used before. As for the drink's name... 'The name Steven Seagal's Lightning Bolt was an inevitable afterthought. [...]
Hey, look! We've moved to WordPress! All the old posts are here, too! Expect a proper post tomorrow, it will me a new mix! Ha ha!

This week I've been burning through the first series of Scrubs , which I got for a criminal £12 from this second-hand DVD and game place called Cex , which recently opened a branch in the new shopping centre near me (I think I've mentioned the shopping centre before; it's comprised mainly of glass cases containing overpriced clothes). I think, and I'm not joking here, Scrubs might be my favourite TV shows. Ever. Even more so than Spaced , or Walker: Texas Ranger . And the soundtrack's pretty cool. There's Erasure, there's [...]

Err, the rain that is. Not you guys. We need more of you. It's bloody pissing it down where I am. Le sigh.Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, I've been busy with stuff and stonsense. Anwyay, here's a song that's got no relation to any of the things I've just been talking (writing?) about. It's Drivin' Me Wild by Chicago rapper Common, the third single from his recent Finding Forever album, featuring special guest star Lily Allen (fuck it, I like her) and produced by Sir Kanye of West, [...]

Image from Threadless Okay, I'm cheating slightly. Here I present a mini-mix I made about a year ago, not a soundtrack, of zombie-related songs. I do have more soundtracks but...you'll have to wait 'til next year, I guess. I've got this and another mix for the start of next week. So, as I said before; all songs about zombies (and a couple from zombie films). Enjoy! (It may be a bit rough around the edges) Tracklisting 1. Gorillaz - M1A1 2. My Chemical Romance - Early Sunsets [...]

Today on Horror-Movie Soundtrack FM, we have the music from a decidedly more subtle film than Dawn of the Dead . It's the weird folk of The Wicker Man (note I don't say the original Wicker Man , as I refuse to believe there is a remake), which my local awesome cinema had a screening of recently. The songs, as I mentioned, are double-entendre laced folk affairs; composed, arranged and recorded by Paul Giovanni and Magnet. The actors from the film provide vocals, and they all tend to do a [...]

Continuing our (well, my) month of Halloween, today I present to you the main themes from a couple of films by the legendary John Carpenter (he who used to be legendary for making good films, now more legendary for making....less than good films). Only one of the songs is actually from a horror film, but both of them have the same creepiness/pervading sense of dead that John Carpenter's synth-tastic scores tend to have. Expect another full-length album later in the week! John Carpenter - Assault On Precinct 13 (Main title) [...]

Once again, I've (unwittingly) left a long gap between posts. Sorry about that. Seeing as we are in the month of October, and Halloween will soon be upon us, all of this month's posts are going to be dedicated to horror-movies; whether it's soundtracks, remixes, movie-inspired songs or just songs that sample dialogue/effects/etc. from the gory and spooky of cinema. This week, I present to you the score from the European cut of George Romero's Dawn of the Dead , which any horror, or especially zombie fan (such as myself), will tell you is a [...]

After sepnding a couple of years performing terrible/blinding shows (depending on who you ask), the Brian Jonestown Massacre are back with a new album, entitled My Bloody Underground . (If you don't know what band that's in reference to....shame on you) The album is still awaiting a physical release, but it is available for download on the band's website. Dropping Bombs On The White House (Anton being his usual subtle self), is the lead-off track, and it's pretty bloody good (even if it only resmebles the aformentioned Kevin [...]
