By Ageisobar Earlier today, the pretentious staff over at XLR8R graced us with their Best of 2012: Overrated Releases list. To highlight the hypocrisy and overall pointlessness of a "feature" like that, I've compiled all of the reviews that they flip-flopped on. Granted, some of these didn't have formal reviews, but all of them did have some sort of call out. I'd also like to add that I really love the "HATED IT" tag they put on the albums that they really dislike. That's a very respectable look and I hope the [...]

By Cy Twombly Distal and Red Bull Music Academy hit it hard with this new "Cherry Red" tune. I'm not about to call it "Trap" like the Soundcloud tag implies, as it lacks a certain aggressive energy, but there's obviously a strong Hip-Hop influence. I can't pinpoint what early 20002s production this reminds me of, but in any case the Slim Thug sample is a nice touch. Enjoy "Cherry Red" as a free download and pick up the proper release as part of his forthcoming Vampire Lightning [...]

Ladies and gentlemen, hang on to your knickers because Night Slugs are prepping the release of their second Allstars compilation. Volume 2 offers many of the same talents as Volume 1 , with added contributions from American based producers Helix and Morri$ . Scope the track list and mark February 4, 2013 on your calendar. Night Slugs All Stars Volume 2 1. L-Vis 1990 – Lost In Love (Night Slugs Allstars Street Mix) 2. Girl Unit – Ensemble (Club Mix) [...]

Tonight I'm hoping to survive my companies five hour Christmas party and make it to the 15 year anniversary celebration of Abstract Science . As you may or may not have heard, Joy Orbison, who was originally atop the lineup, will not be in attendance due to unforeseen circumstances (presumably a visa issue), so Ben UFO will be delivering an extended three hour set. Get a sample of Ben's style with a listen to his WHP x Boiler Room x RBMA live set below and buy tickets here . Friday, December [...]

Expect a fair balance between dry percussion and colorful synths on this forthcoming Sex Lies & Videochat EP from 5kinAndbone5 . Get a sample below, stream all five tracks on Soundcloud and keep an eye out for the December 12 Discobelle Records release .

By Charlotte Ballesteros I think I'm at the point where I can comfortably dub Tanner Ross as one of my favorite producers. Take his recent rework of " Long Way " (Catz 'n Dogz, Nicholas Ryan Grant) with " Islands Pt. 2 " (Soul Clap, Greg Paulus) and pile on his new remix of Justin Martin's " The Gurner ". That's it, you're done. Sold.

New vibes from the Acéphale Records camp with a heavy remix from recent signee Doss. Grab a listen and free download below and check out the original LP from How To Dress Well , Total Loss , over in the Acéphale store .

UK producer Jack Dixon just released a free three song EP. Despite it being completely free, it's not just a collection of throw away tracks; they're completely thought out and well produced. So, instead of having to hunt it down on some sketchy blog or forum, stream and download right here. Download: Zippyshare

By _Bizzies This Dense & Pika tune came as a pretty solid recommendation from Mosca's Facebook page. "Crackling" very much reminds me of the dry, piercing Techno that Mood II Swing's " Move Me " brings to the table; I'm not mad.

By Nicholas Santore Enjoy some new old-school-inspired vibes from Chicago's own Garrett David . Catch him at Queen! every Sunday at Smart Bar or various times during the week at Gramaphone Records to congratulate him on his shared 12 Stepp Music release with Olin, Jorge Cerna and Greg K.

By Nicholas Hance McElroy A couple of "throwback" vibes from Turbo Recordings' Remix Project EP, which was essentially a showcase of remixed Renaissance Man tunes. The record came out earlier this year and featured reworks from artists like Joakim, Teeth, WhoMadeWho, Dexter, Matthew Herbert, Call Super and those who're listed below. All around very solid and weird.

By Alessandro Puccinelli Oh. Shit. These are some Brasstax vibes if I've ever heard them. The fairly recent MMG signee Omarion just dropped a pretty heavy single called "Admire" (prod. by Beat Boy) that features Problem and Tank; aka baby making music. Soak it up and look for O's Care Package EP, which is set to be released this Thursday, November 29.

I picked this one up from Cassius' latest Boiler Room appearance. "Turbosteppa" is probably the truest example of a collaboration, given that Claude VonStroke and Kry Wolf worked out more than six different versions of the track; ending up with what you hear on the final Dirtybird release. Read a bit more on that process over on Rolling Stone and pick up the single on Beatport .

As you may or may not have seen on the freshly minted Brasstax site, Jake and I are gearing up for our monthly party at The Whistler . This Saturday we'll be joined by our good friends Heskey and YV of the Blaireau collective for some bonus opening set vibes, so come through for some hangs and cocktails. Saturday, December 1 @ The Whistler: Brasstax (Bizzies & Guidry) Heskey YV Free / 10pm / Brasstax

By NASA Guys, Thanksgiving is upon us, which means it's time for some very feel good family vibes. I think these reworks by Dusky are quite fitting, as they very much reminds me of the feeling I got from Frankie Knuckles' Thanksgiving set at Smart Bar a couple of years ago. Anyway, enjoy everything about this Cloud 9 tune and happy Thanksgiving.

By Dale Frank I haven't been a Chris Brown supporter since he turned out to be a terrible person, but his voice is pretty tastefully used in Elektrosaurus ' "J. Doe" remix. I grabbed this one from the recent Skream b2b Disclosure set on Boiler Room , definitely get into that if you missed it. Download: Direct MP3

It's almost been a year since I first fell in love with Merveille & Crosson's DRM Part 1 EP. You know it's real when you pick up both digital and vinyl copies; I mean, "DRM" and "Orca" are just spot on. Anyway, the Visionquest duo are back with a DRM full-length boasting nine solid tracks of what feels more like a live band than a production pair. I'm actually very curious as to what their creative process looks like. Hear what I mean with a [...]

By Cina Associates As a semi-fan of Matthew Dear (way more into his DJ vibes than the band) and a huge fan of Seth Troxler , this version of " Fighting Is Futile " is pretty perfect for me. One of my favorite songs in the world is the same duo's " Hurt " collaboration from 2009 and I'm already looking to crown this rework high in my Best of 2012 . In case you missed it, the Beams album trailer is pretty amazing, watch it on [...]
This new Yours Truly / Adidas Originals sponsored collaboration between Angel Haze and Lunice sounds of something I'd like to get involved with. Get a look into the creative process behind "Gimme That" above and check out the full track, available November 14 via Yours Truly , below.
To celebrate the 15 year anniversary of The Prodigy 's classic The Fat of The Land LP (1997), Liam, Keith and Maxim have commissioned a fresh batch of remixes of select classics. Grab the first round of reworks by Noisia ("Smack My Bitch Up") and Zeds Dead ("Breath") on Beatport , iTunes or Boomkat . Additional remixes from Alvin Risk, Major Lazer, Baauer and The Glitch Mob are still to come; read more on NME . On a personal note, as a member of The Prodigy Ant Tattoo [...]
