The album starts with a groovy laid-back tune called 'whatever', then tunes in to the suggestive reflection 'stuck', and from there Simmons takes us into' Pacharama', her memories of a trip to the jungle, to times long gone by. Time for the best song of the album, the title-track: 'The dandelion' with it's intricate harmonies and weeping guitar. The magic starts and leads us into to a piece called 'almost', where we truly can enjoy the delicate voice of Kaz. I've been listening to a lovely album this week. It's James Lee Stanley s latest project (you may remember his 2005 project 'all wood and stones' with John batdorf?), this time it's an album called 'All Wood And Doors'. Regular readers of this little blog knows that i love flamenco. And by flamenco i mean good flamenco, of course, like all the music we cover here. While i can not go deeper into the subject of flamenco right now (go straight to Camaron et al... then to "la nueva flamenco" via Enrique Morente and others for a start... Here's Shona Foster performing a song that needs no presentation: God only knows. One of the greatest songs ever written imho. Choosing covers to record or perform is an art itself.
