4, middle age-men from stockholm. Silence betweeen the notes, that you can hear. Violins, accordions. Strong, steady voices. Is it blues? Is it america, amaericana (the south Missisippi?). Have you heard it all before? yes. But not like this. it is from Sweden. Again. Remember the guys in Willy clay band ? Here's another band great band to listen to: Yonder Mats Qwarfordt (singer), and guitarist Christer Lyssarides met in a Stockholm club in 1997, slowly adding bass player Björn Lundquist and Kjell Gustavsson on drums, the band was complete [...]

The haloscan comment system seems to be working fine again. I also got back the missing comments. Please feel free to fill the large gap from october last year! Comment on!! /G

Young and smart, voice like an early neil young with lyrics that tries to tell me something. It's just the way it goes... Soon, they'll be all over and everywhere, ( Spoilt Victorian child , one of the great music blogs out there), had a post the other day), and beat me to it. I had todays posting stashed for a while (quite a while as a fact), as a draft, so today, instead, i am going to do it the lazy way, and quote a full, almost two year old article ( Aug 2005 [...]
Someone asked me of my favourite music blogs, so here's a list of some of the music blogs i still visit now and then (unordered list), many of them have been around for quite a while (Well in the "blogosphere", a year can be a very long time), and has proven to be filled with interesting articles and great music. I have also added some newer ones in the list. It's a jungle out there... See this( earlier post ) Office [...]

It's been, on the day, almost two long years since i wrote a short review about the debut album of Kaz Simmons, Take Me Home (2005) On this followup-album (entitled "Different Smile"), Kaz wrote three songs and made new arrangements on seven other, among them some classical jazz standards. I never really cared much about the music of Jeff Buckley , (i'm quite happy/sad, with all the hours "spent together" with Tim), so i hadn't heard Jeffs cover of Nina Simone 's "If You Knew", but now when i [...]

John, at good old Tofu Hut , gives us some great interviews with old and upcoming artists. Some of these recordings (made via phone at joes pub in N.Y), are going to be historical, i think. Listen now :)
Thank you, Dawn . Best version ever. ;-) Dawn Landes Peter, Björn och John /G

Irresistable charm. Great melodies. Harmonies, and an orchestra of seven people, from chicago. This is the debut EP of The 1900s, out now on Parasol Records , it has 6 tracks, most of them are great! When is the full album coming? I want more, "don't leave me like this", "i'm from Barcelona"-deluxe. The secret is to change the key at the right position of the song. But you allready knew that didn't you? Listen to The 1900s - Bring the good boys home [...]
You know Ace Records , of course. For a long time their heavy full colour catalogue was my only pornography. Ahh, the music on that label, and one of the artists i found was Mavis. Mavis Staples . Ace had a collection called "Don't change me now" and i played it until it was unplayable. Mavis is back now with a new album, and i'll bet some money on that it (It's called "We'll never turn back"), will be one of the albums that will top some best of lists this year. Here's one track [...]

Sentimental. That's what i am now, or always. You allready know about Bullette Secrets is still an album that i listen to, now and then, with great pleasure. One of the best album of that year, in my book. And it grows with the time. But did you also know about Monika's current project ?. Together with Rob Montejo she has formed the band The Sky Drops . Monika plays the drums, and Rob the guitar, and he is one great guitarist, with just that [...]
In McAllen, TX. Playing with Tish: Darcie Deaville and Troy Wells. Webpage of Tish Hinojosa
A good song is one that makes me live. One that makes me skip food even if i am hungry. One that makes me write silly things like this, without thinking of the consequences. Adrienne Pierce - Laundry And Dishes.mp3 "Maybe I need to see something grow See black soil, green shoots Maybe I need to touch down I need heavier boots" She's young. But it's a melody that goes right through my heart. Imagine a Dylan-cover. Or perhaps it was just that i had to [...]

Melody does it once again, chills down my spine. Nice to finally hear a live version of one of my favourite songs of 2006. Recorded in New York, at Rockwood Music Hall, february 3, 2007. Melody Gardot - Love me like a river does (Live)

It is the end of 2006 soon, and sweden have just put its first ever astronout in space. The westcoast of the country (Gothenburg), is in a state of chaos right now, because of the extreme weather conditions that have happened this autumn with unusual warm weather and intensive raining. It took quite a while for bush to admit that the global warming actually is happening. Perhaps in texas, it is more difficult to see the effects than here, because they have constant hot weather, i think for myself? I can tell [...]
Daniele, over at Music is art , wrote a nice post the other day, about Alice Smith . She posted "Dream" (one of my favourite songs this year), "do i", and a remix of "love endeavor". Check it out, if you didn't know about the "amazing" voice of Alice Smith (well, great on cd at least. You don't have to watch the out of key woodstock video...), and her music. The album has been out for a while and it is called "for lovers dreamers and me") [...]
Marcus Miller ? Quinten Hope adds something. Maybe not as skilled as Marcus, and definitely more "rough", but, what a tone, what.a.tone! I've been looking for music like this for a long time. Will Lee (one of the reasons i like to watch the Letterman show), joins on this, his second album, on bass. Reminds me a bit of our swedish maestro guitarist Janne Schaffer, in his earlier days. You
You have heard the commercial buzz for yoko onos new album ? Sorry, i mean, the new "beatles" mashup, LOVE? They can count on you at the supermarket, to save their christmas-sale? Now when we are on the subject of mashups. Here are some projects i like: DJ Paul V RIAA Presents: Dirt Bacharach Check out track 7, Str8 Outta San [...]

Sometimes you get an album in your hand, that you know is going to change your life, or have a big impact on your mind, your dreams, and actions for a long time, perhaps for the rest of your short time on this earth. For it is, a djungle out there, and it is not getting any easier to live day by day with all the hate around us. In times like these it is always some people, some musicians that keep delivering "the" right stuff. They just won't give [...]
Screamin Jay Hawkins and Serge Gainsbourg. Well. Ask me about nothing about the blues, Bobby.

Normally i do not write about "silly" music, but here's something to listen to while you are waiting for the fortcoming reissue of Tim Buckleys "happy sad" . From Stockholm, sweden, comes Doublepark, with catchy melodies, harmonies, and... well, ehum, total control of production ;-) I do not wanna party either at this moment, so one of their songs, with the title "I do not wanna party", was the one that originally catched me First. You all know about a guy called José, no? Well, if you're tired of him, you'll [...]
