I don't, I'm knackered. I fancy a night/weekend in with the missus and a bottle of wine. However, if you're not as old and decrepit as me, you're probably itching to get out. So here's where you should go, I reckon. If you fancy a quiet-ish night, with some good food, great music and company, [...]
Before the tooth-bejewelled tosspot that is Mick Hucknall got his hands on it, Money's too tight to mention by the Valentine Brothers was a classic 80's boogie tune. John and Billy Valentine first had an LP out in 1979 with the Richard Evans' produced 'The Valentine Brothers' on Source, but it was in 1982 they [...]
De La Soul were the first rap group I ever got into, deep in the hood of Rochdale the rest kind of passed me by. Once I'd heard "3 ft high and rising" in the park on my mate's stereo, I was hooked and borrowed the tape that night. Anyway - they've got a new [...]
Crappy video, but man what a tune! Worth getting the reissue of the Spanky Wilson LP "Doin' it" from which this comes as there are a fair few crackers on there. The original's pretty expensive now I think. I've not heard much of her other LPs, nor of the recent collab with Quantic other than 'Don't joke with a hungry man' though. Any good?

Click here for facebook event. March sees us uphold the tradition of rooting out an anaemic, light-sensitive crate digger from a dusty record shop cellar and dragging them to a (thankfully darkened) pub back room where we make them play some of their ill gotten gains for our collective pleasure. This month's guest earned his stripes deep beneath Oldham street, where he spent some 15 years trawling through vintage vinyl at some of the Northern Quarter's finer second-hand emporiums. Armed with knowledge, records and excellent night-vision he soon found his way behind the decks at nights [...]
You've probably heard the Scruff Southport Weekend soul mix right? Because if you haven't, then you're just wrong. Anyway, I've been trying to dig up some of the tracks on there and figured someone else might be interested, so (in no particular order) here we go. Gloria Scott - That's what you say Amazing tune this, with a brilliant vocal and super sweet backing produced by Barry White. This was her only full album, called "What am I gonna do" and the [...]
Wow - amazing tunes from Mike last night! Big up all who came down, the vibe in that back room was ace last night, Mike played some blinding tunes, I had to stop asking him what they were after around his third record, as I'd gone up and asked after every tune so far. Some great pics to come once I've done the cable thing with the camera. Next month we're back to our regularly scheduled 'second Saturday of the month' routine on March 14th where we are extremely pleased to have Marc Rowlands as our guest. Catcalledmorris [...]
This is how you change the music industry! http://mashable.com/2009/02/20 /josh-freese-album-promotion/

yes Fuck yes I am buying one of these . If I miss out, there's going to be hell to pay. Serious.
Hi. How's things? Good stuff. Yeah I'm alright ta. Are you coming down to Northern Comfort on Saturday? It's our first birthday. The fliers over there >>. Be good to see you. Come over and say hi.
Sundays. They are a weird aren't they? You spend all day wandering what to do. Today I have decided that I will watch a lot of old school hip hop videos and interviews. Its better than Come Dine With Me. Kind of. Actually that program is alright. Anyway. I have stumbled across these videos from D Nice (BDP member) Really nice interviews (apart from the Monie Love one because her accent annoys me and her records were never all that..) Anyway. Perfect Sunday viewing ....
Newly signed to Tru Thoughts . Nice.
But this annoys me SO FUCKING MUCH it's untrue. Anti MMR morons. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/t ol/comment/columnists/david_aa ronovitch/article5696902.ece?S ubmitted=true
So this is a great thing. A radio interview last year with the man David Axelrod. I will never get tired of his music. If you don't own the LP's below then you are just plain weird. Release of an Oath (Electric Prunes) Songs of Experience Songs of Innocence Axelrod Interview
That last post of Robd highlights the great work he has done with Northern Comfort. Of course I wont mention the work that I, the great Sad Eagle, or Chris, the hyper CatcalledMorris, have done also. We prefer to play it cool. It is how we roll. Hopefully Robd can learn from us. I doubt it as Chris & I are light years ahead of him. Don't let him tell you he organises it all either. Lies. Anyway I saw this and it made me laugh. Weird Scottish thing .

Time flies when you're having fun. It barely seems six months ago since we first convened in the back room of the Sally for our inaugural session. Our demands were threefold but simple; ale, seats and a sound system - with these at our disposal we could encourage musical appreciation in comfortable surroundings, far away from the baying dancefloors and pricing policies of clubland. Luckily for us many DJs are more than happy to exchange the larger crowds and pay packets of the clubs for a chilled out evening in a homely old boozer - glad of [...]
Strut records have been doing this new series called Inspiration Information, where they're getting old artists to work with newer ones. The first one was Sly and Robbie with Amp Fiddler, the second Horace Andy and Ashley Beedle, and the next one will be Mulatu Astake and the Heliocentrics, who I believe supported him on his last tour. The first one I enjoyed, only heard one track from the Horace Andy one which to be honest I was slightly disappointed with but I've only had one listen. This one, hopefully, should be good; here's a video.
