Sore Eros - Second Chants

Sore Eros - Second Chants Prior to playing with Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Gary War, Kurt Vile, and Panda Bear, Robert Robinson made dreamy, bedroom-pop music on his own in Enfield, Connecticut. Bearing resemblance to a psychedelic cassette played on a broken boom box, his first self-titled Sore Eros CD-R was released on his independent label Light Dead Sea in 2003. Over the next few years, Robinson traveled around the country and collaborated with fellow lo-fi musicians before moving back to Connecticut in 2007 to assist his dad, who had recently suffered a heart attack. In his downtime, as his father made a full recovery, [...]

WOODS - Find Them Empty 7"

WOODS - Find Them Empty 7" Woods began in the woods, at the foot of Bear Mountain. In the earliest days it was a collaborative improvisational group with two core members and several guests, known as "woodsists." Shortly thereafter, Jeremy Earl and Christian DeRoeck emerged from the woods, dusted themselves off, and began to walk upright. The two woodsists immersed themselves in human culture, learned to craft a melody, to wield a tambourine, to construct a crude phonograph from spare bicycle parts. They learned the value of a cassette. Jeremy and Christian returned to the woods and shared their newfound knowledge with the other woodsists. The [...]

She has been using her time learning to write and record her own music as part of her nights spent at home, adapting to being the single mother of a young child. Sachs is a four tracking hobbyist who's musical spirit dwells in the realm of her own natural inclinations. She is a firm believer in doing what feels right, and in her recordings she really uses her solo status to great advantage. It adds up a very personal [...]

Mount Eerie: Song Islands vol. 2

Mount Eerie: Song Islands vol. 2 SONG ISLANDS vol. 2 is the 2nd collection of scattered, isolated non-album tracks (get it? "islands"?) by Phil Elverum and his MOUNT EERIE project, vol. 1 having been released by K records in 2002 under the MICROPHONES name. These songs span from long ago (Where Is My Tarp? from 2002, recorded during the Microphones' perpetual occupation of Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia) to recent out-takes from 2009's Wind's Poem (Lost Wisdom and (wind lyrics), explorations into the mysteries of black metal) and all kinds of wildly divergent places in between. Raw poems barely accompanied on acoustic guitar, expanses of wooden [...]
