As his myspace page reads, "homemade loops for the whole family". With a laid back Sunday afternoon vibe, the music produced by Alan Sutherland (aka Land of the Loops) is fun, whimsical and just plain old feel good. Land of the Loops - Multi-Family Garage Sale

Kinda beatles-esque guitar and music with the lovely voice of Zooey Deschanel. Yes that Zooey, the actress from the "Tin Man", "Weeds", and soon to be released, "The Happening". Doesn't she have a Beautiful voice? Anyway, I was caught off guard when I first heard this song and then looked for a bio on the band. She = Zooey Deschanel Him = M. Ward Album Title: Volume One Release Date: March, 2008 [...]

MGMT is an electro-pop group from NY. This track is taken from their freshman outing called, "Oracular Spectacular", which was released this January. This entire album is Phenomenal and worth every penny. The standout tracks for me are, " Time to Pretend " (with it's buzzing bee lead synth line and lyrics: "Let's make some music, make some money, find some models for wives...") , " The Youth " (with it's synth-orgrans and John Lennon-esque vocals), " Electric Feel " (hear for yourself), & " Kids " (for it's joy division-esque feel). [...]
This is taken from an anit-war, beatles, mash-up album called, "Hate" - as in, I "Hate" the war in Iraq... The entire mash-up album can be downloaded from here . Now, not all of the mash-ups are that great, but I really like "Drive My War" and "Buddy Girl". [ download ]

Here's the latest from Gnarls Barkley off their upcoming release titled, "The Odd Couple", which is going to be released April 2008. Has a nice old school motown feel to it with very energetic vocals, and hand claps... I love me some hand claps! [ download ]

Soma recording artist, Let's Go Outside (aka Stephen Schieberl) has a new full length album that was released January 28th, titled "A Picnic with The Hunters". This particular track has a nice mix of minimal electro, such as a booming kick drum, 808 hi-hats and vocals. Soma Bio: Stephen Schieberl has produced electronic music for over a decade, taking the mantra "Let's Go Outside" as his moniker. Residing in Portland, Oregon where he first released on small local experimental label, Buried In Time, he soon moved onto Bradford-based Midnight Recordings [...]

Part ELO part Beach Boys meets Daft Punk drum loops and you get the latest creation from Sebastien Tellier. This track will be released on Sebastien's third studio album called, "Sexuality", due out late February. The album was produced by one-half of the Daft Punk duo ( Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo ). Being a big fan of Sebastien and his left from center approach to lyrics as well as music styles, I'm surprised to find this track is very "cute". That may sound trite, but the track is [...]

Here's a new track from the forthcoming full release from Moby. It's o.k., not great, not really bad, but just ok... so what do YOU think? [ download ]

From the forth coming greatest hits album (due out February 12th), we get two new tracks one if which is "That's How People Grow Up" and the other being "All You Need Is Me". I personally haven't really been taken by most of Morrissey's solo efforts, but there have been the occasional standout tracks but collectively no where near the mark that the Smiths have left on my heart. Miss Kittin is back with a new full length title, "BatBox", which hits the streets March 4th, 2008. This track has some what of a dark rock-esque bassline that rumbles through-out but also has a nice gothic feel to it all. I can't get enough of her humming backing vocals on this track. I think I've listened to non-stop for the last two hours... time flies... [ download ]

Lovin' the bass hook on this track. ESG (Emerald Sapphire & Gold) was an all girl group from South Bronx, New York circa 1978 to 1990's. They mix Soul, Funk, Disco, and New Wave all into their own dance vibe, which would probably be labeled "Deep House" now-a-days. This track was originally released in 1982 on ESG's EP titled, "ESG Says Dance To The Beat of Moody". [ download ]

This short but sweet electro-indie-pop track is from Mirah's 2001 release entitled, "Advisory Committe". Wiki Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn (born September 17, 1974, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), is an American musician. She has released five albums under the K Records label. She is close friends with and has collaborated with Phil Elvrum of The Microphones. She has worked extensively with The Black Cat Orchestra. [ download ]

Sweden's very own Johan Agebjorn lends his hand at remixing this track that was originally released by Don Juan Dracula back in 2005 and gets some help with added vocals from Sally Shapiro. The original track was a little too angst ridden for me, but this remix takes it to more of a synthpop arena, which I love. [ download ]

I love the electronic Everything but the Girl (EBTG) albums (wasn't a big fan of the acoustic pop albums, but that's just me) , I love most of the remixes by Ben Watt (one half of EBTG) , but I wasn't really taken by Tracey's solo album. Don't get me wrong, there are several tracks I like, but I don't exactly love them. What I do love is Tracey's voice. With that said, this Hot Chip remix of Tracey's Kings Cross is brilliant, dark, and overall moving. I love the detuning of notes that [...]

Well the wait is almost over for the third full lenght LP release from Portishead . Portishead announced today that their new album will be titled "Third" and will be released on April 14th 2008. Can't wait.... can't wait... ok, I guess I have too...

[Guest post by Brian Smith] Kalabrese: Rumpelzirkus - in my last entry, I alluded to a record that although came up short as my choice for electronic record of the year last year, I had recommended to people more than any other… and this is the record. Rumpelzirkus is the debut full-length album by Swiss artist Sascha Winkler (aka Kalabrese) after a handful of releases on labels like the legendary Perlon and a history that includes a number of records as the drummer for [...]

My Robot Friend (aka Howard Robot) comes from the emerging New York City's underground electronic scene. He's opened for such acts as Le Tigre, Herbert, and Scissor Sisters. From what I've read, he's live shows are something to behold. His shows have been described as Laurie Anderson meets Wizard of Oz complete with neon lights and pyrotechnics. And is it just me (or this it could just be the result of listening to too much Depeche Mode), but I can swear I hear a sample in the background from the song "Pipeline" off the Construction Time Again LP.
