A Lemmy Documentary. It makes so much sense. That's probably why it hadn't been done yet. Who doesn't want to talk about Lemmy? Who doesn't love Motorhead? I, for one, CAN'T WAIT to see this. Check out the trailer: This post has: 1 MP3

One of our favorite NY bands The Above are putting the finishing touches on their debut: a self-titled full length due out soon. We just got a chance to listen to the record and, having only heard most of the tracks live, it's great interpretation of this Brooklyn, Mod/Rock staple's songs, translating the energy of the live set into a disc of 60's-rooted pop-tunes. Awesome! To wet our collective appetite, the Above put together the below video. You can also heck out some new tracks on the band's myspace [...]

Yea.. that's right. A drumset made of ICE.. played in an ICE HOTEL in Sweden by one of the countries best bands: The Hellacopters. Just watch it: This post has: 1 MP3

Word is spreading around the world right now of Jay's death. I just confirmed this with a few close friends. I don't know what to say... You will be missed.

Certified PR Records have been on a roll as of late and this, their first full-length release, is possibly the crown jewel. You may know John Wesley Coleman from Austin's Golden Boys but the music contained within these grooves comes across more like straight-up, grass-roots Americana. There's a sort of loose, visceral honesty throughout that just makes the whole record work. Stylistically 'Steal My Mind' is across the board, the type of record that where you sit, sink back into your chair and let the songs surround you. In fact, I didn't really [...]

Before you head over to the Customers show stop by the Sailor Jerry shop for some drinks and a little last minute shopping. DJ's Natalie Sweet and Undercover Zero (of Uncontrollable Urge) will be blastin' out some punk, garage and power-pop treats; Dre Perales will have some killer artwork displayed and THE FIRST 40 PEOPLE GET FREE STUFF!! RSVP HERE to make sure you get in!

This Thursday Atlanta's bastard sons The Customers once again grace Philly with their snotty, hook-filled brand of Punk n' Roll (see the video of them playing outside our store below!) They're bringing The Biters with them. They're a new ATL band that rose out of the ashes of Poison Arrows (the punk one). The Biters sound like a bunch of punks who can't get enough of Cheap Trick and Slade. They are a lot of bands like that and they're mostly terrible.. not the Biters. Touring band #3 comes [...]

A few years ago I got a promo CD in the mail by a band called the Horrors. I knew immediately from the included "one-sheet" that this was not a new release by the band on In The Red Records, so I tossed it into one of the piles on my desk and forgot about. Months later, a friend sent me a video of "Sheena Is A Parasite". Digging the song, I remembered that discarded EP, found it and later played in the car. The first track was an extra "spooky" and aggressive version of the Screaming [...]

That's right! Ryan Wong and Company's much anticipated, totally amazing Desert Rock masterpiece 'AZ-238' is finally upon us! The first LP (on Jay Reatard's Shattered Records) was one of our fave records. So much so, that we made Tokyo Electron's "Make Me Bleed" the first track on our last compilation CD. This record is no disappointment, and the songwriting mixed with the style of production implemented creates a sound that is absolutely crushing. Check out the Mp3 of the title-track below and tell me those thick guitars and pounding rhythm don't get you [...]

With the release of their new record "Warm Brother", Digital Leather have been featured on a ton of new websites lately. However, the site they just turned up on gives a whole new definition to the album title. That's right.. Sean Foree and Co just turned up on a website called "Blacks on Blondes" (that's them in the picture above). Here's a snippet from the video description: "As this scene opens, we find blonde babe Jessi hanging out with her white boyfriend and his [...]

Hot off the press and into your lap... here's a great new video from the Dex Romweber Duo. As in.. Dexter Romweber. If you don't know who Dex is, you probably don't know too much about rock n' roll. Which probably means you don't care, so just go Google it. Or don't. Whatever. Past accomplishments aside, Dex and Sara make a perfect His and Her combo: His brash, Dano-tinged guitar slices and soulful howl are complemented and given purpose by her melodic, perfectly arranged skin pounding. As great as this song [...]

It seems like NO ONE knows about this show! The original venue (941 Theatre) got shut down.. so the promoter had to scramble to get this someplace else.. which is, insanely, the Starlight Ballroom. Here's the details: Thursday, Nov 19th / 8:30pm @ Polaris Jack Oblivian Jack "Oblivian" Yarber of The Tearjerkers was a key figure in the influential, Memphis-based Compulsive Gamblers and the legendary '90s garage-punk band The Oblivians. Though, to only ramble on about Yarber?s work with The Oblivians [...]

Not really. But that's the rumour going around on "the net" and I couldn't pass up making the above photo! It turns out that Khan, Mark and Kristin (Tour Managing Queen of the Garage Punk Universe) got pulled over in middle-of-nowhere, Kentucky on their way to a show in St Louis. Kristin got taken in for, allegedly, driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance. I'm hoping that the "controlled substance" in question is Leo Chips , because there is no mention of him in any [...]

Don't bother messing around with any lofty reviews of this new King Khan and BBQ record. You know them, you love them and, regardless what anyone says, they write amazing songs: "Third Ave" (Listen Below) is one of the best songs they've written to date. That said... here's my review: BUY. THIS. RECORD. NOW! This post has: 1 MP3

We've reviewed a few of Eastwood 's models on the blog. They make reissues and reinterpretations of weirdo vintage guitars. They're an all around great company from products through customer service. It's a bit of a secret.. but pretty soon Eastwood and Sailor Jerry will be offering up something pretty cool involving the new RS-II model. Can't say what it.. but you'll dig it. Check out the video below for now and stop by soon to hear what we have in store!

Here's a new video from EODM's set at the shop last year. ( CLICK HERE to read more about that and see the other vid) Where as the other video was a bit of a rocker, this track shows the Eagles slower, Stones-esque side. Dig in, babies! This post has: 1 MP3

When Khan and Mark roll into town... you know there's gonna be a party! While the two have been here a few times recently in different forms (Solo, with the Shrines, Etc), KK & BBQ Show proper haven't played Philly in quite sometime. And, in the amount of time they've been absent from our sad little world, they've recorded and released their 3rd Full-Length, 'Invisible Girl' (out now/soon on In The Red). The new album is a BEHEMOTH! Check out the title-track below to get a quick idea of what these guys have in [...]

Pretty Things are a favourite of mine, and it always boggles the mind that they never achieved the same level of recognition as some of their contemporaries. The clip below captures the mid-60's Things laying down a slice of heavy, white-boy R&B that rivals anything you could put in front of it. And that BASS TONE... EXPLETIVE! EXPLETIVE! EXPLETIVE!

Here's Brimstone Howl doing a song off their NEW LP (on Alive Records) live at the Sailor Jerry shop in Philly!

Jesse from Eagles Of Death Metal might as well be the posterboy for Sailor Jerry: He's loud, brash with a sharp sense of humor that pleases many and offends most. And as the frontman of EODM, just may be the physical embodiment of Rock n' Roll. Whatever he is.. he definitely gives a great interview. This was recorded at the shop a few months back and is peppered with footage from the live performance they did about a year ago.
