I've liked The Russian Futurists for a long time. Something about the low-fi sound really gets me with bedroom electronic projects. I got permission from the band to post something but didn't know just what to post. Just then it started to snow all over my house. Remember that I'm from Florida so this is kind of an event for me. Anyway, I ran and got my camera so I could share the snow with you. Also the weather helped me figure out what track to share. The [...]

Ever since (and probably before) he intentionally over cranked his amp on the chorus of Radiohead's Creep because he thought it was a boring song, Johnny Greenwood has pushed against the usual and mundane. If you watched their thumbs down webcast which mainly featured material from In Rainbows you saw Johnny playing the Ondes Martenot , an instrument Johnny is particularly fond of and has been using in Radiohead since Kid A. Today and tomorrow at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in New York Johnny's modern classical work [...]

I'm in love again. There is just something about the tambourine and or hand claps that cuff me and stuff me in the closet. Running with Horses make me smile and their music hangs hang in the air like a lady's perfume. The girl guy duo from Scotland sent me a couple tracks that are completely mix worthy so pick em up. Be careful though because you'll be humming these melodies for a week. They weigh in with these two songs sounding a little Elastica and a little That Dog. respectively, [...]

What could be better than a new justice mix? A new justice mix with a story available for free. In England there is a super venue that opens its doors for the most elite of DJs Called Fabric . These artists are usually on the cutting edge of music and the mixes are released and sold through the series now up to installment 38. Justice were asked to submit something and they being the spokespeople for gen y at the moment decided to say... Why not do something different? I suppose [...]

So I've been in a bit of a dance hibernation . There was a time when thats the only place you could find me, but I really hadn't heard any new exciting dance music for a while. Looks like the spell is broken. The 80s are dead, Long live the 80s. Michael Sembello - She's A Maniac (The Bloody Beetroots Edit) Djs take note Thanks to these guys for the track

So what would you have if Nick Cave's Muse were a big fan of Coco Rosie ? Beat The Devil . The Vocals have a classic jazz style with the acidic saliva of a snarling garage rocker . The three piece is a testament to minimal instrumentation which I'm a huge fan of. The harmonium is at the center of the hypnotic sound. This is something you'll either get or you won't. The band is playing at The Earl on Feb [...]
Episode seven is out and we explore the world of female solo artists. This week two UK based artists Kate Nash and Sia bring us records to explore. We recommend The Walkmen and The Radio Dept. Tracks spotlighted on this weeks episode: Pumpkin Soup - Kate Nash Wake Up - The Walkmen Academia - Sia Where Damage Isn't Already Done - The Radio Dept. Halleluia Chorus - The Nobility

I saw Oppemheimer last year at the Drunken Unicorn and was really surprised to find that they really can do all this stuff with just two guys. I liked the band so much in fact that I demanded that a cynical girl that I know come out to see them with me. She doesn't even like rock and roll and I could tell that she was impressed. They have really synth heavy rock sound that I just can't get enough of. I hope you like it too. [...]

So I found a pretty great new group a little while ago because of Pampelmoose called Appaloosa and I wanted to share it with you guys too. The band is Kind of a mix between Nico and ABBA . I think it's way dope and these are only DEMOS! Can't wait to hear a proper release. Appaloosa - Intimate Appaloosa - The Day (We Fell In Love)

So I drove a friend down to my hometown of Pensacola sometime last year and she brought a whole bunch of cds. She got most of them back but I managed to sneak this one out of her folder. It was a pretty good mix but one track in particular really stuck out in my head. It was Homecoming by The Teenagers . These guys are pretty neat and it looks like they're on tour in the US as well. Anyway check out the tracks and hope that they visit near you. [...]
Alright so there looks to be a movie either on or by a couple bands in Atlanta. I don't know what details are confirmed but as of now there are a few teasers which for sure show Black Lips , King Kahn & BBQ Show . I don't know about you guys but I'm in. Check out the site Here UPDATE: BTW check out This article.

It's so neat for me to listen to songwriters and really feel as if they aren't bullshitting me. Honestly I mean it. The moment I feel like the person singing doesn't know what he's singing about, or that it's only sung to sell a ticket, I loose interest. The Bowerbirds are no such group. It's a three piece but its tough to tell. Their music is so thick and lush that you expect them to come with a cast similar to The Decemberists but such is not the case. [...]

Talk about being slung into stardom! A Classic Education , a band from Bologna, Italy, played with Modest Mouse on their second show. On their fifth show they opened for Arcade Fire in a city I've never heard of called Ferrara! There's a lot of videos of the July 11th show you can look up on YouTube. One may ask why A Classic Education has caught the attention of such big names. The answer is their amalgamation of Sigur Ros post-rock, melodic indie-pop, and that [...]

I was browsing my morning blog roll and found something I wanted to share with you guys. So apparently John Pugh split off from !!! and started a band with a fashion designer named Madeleine Davy. The big story is that they will be touring with Hot Chip. They remind me of what LCD Soundsystem used to be. I'm excited! Grab a track here: The Royal Family Mucho Kudos to The Music Slut
This week special guest Julia Reidy from Fear of Arthropods joins us as we talk about Biirdie, the state of the recording industry, and three of our recommendations. Tracks played on the show: Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Bellbottoms Biirdie - Him Fishboy - Minus Two Lou Reed - Satellite of Love Beat the Devil - Shine in Exile We'd like to give [...]
So this is a pretty awsome artist that calls himself Vitalic . Every single instrument on the whole record OK Cowboy was synthisized . When I hear electro bands play it usually sounds like imitation meat tastes . It's fine I guess I just prefer the real thing . On that note , not only does the record make you nod your head in agreement but the videos are super ironic. Look here's one now.
I recommended The Weight is a Gift on the podcast, and now Nada Surf has a new record coming out in Feb. Every time I listen to them I'm struck by how much better they are than their hit. Elektra, which was their label at the time of their "Popular" phase, dropped the New Yorkers because they didn't see a single on the band's sophomore record The Proximity Effect . Yet another example of the major labels missing the mark as Nada Surf has grown far past their debut record. It's encouraging to [...]
