hey all.. we will be making a few changes to blouse over the next few days. sorry if it looks a bit crap during that period.

some deep, smooth house for a week that never really managed to rid itself of that horrible monday morning vibe. this boo williams track hasn't been far from my speakers since i first heard it on friendly fires' bugged out mix many moons ago.. for me, there wouldn't be too much special about this deep house track if it wasn't for the ghostly, ethereal synths that float in and out of the chugging synth and somewhat jacking drums. if you are having a tough week, fill your ears with this: [...]

some horrible news reached me the other day, and i have to say that i am still pretty deep in mourning.. after five stellar years as bloggers, producers, label bosses and djs, the great steve nolan and sam willis - otherwise known as allez allez - have decided to go their separate ways.. incredibly sad news indeed. these two have done more to open my eyes to the unknown reaches of electronica then perhaps anyone else.. i really have a huge amount of respect for them. the last couple [...]

Her pink cheeks and red mouth were the last parts he saw as she stepped into the cab and out of the cold morning air. He knew he would never see her again. Not in Berlin. Not in London. The streetlights flickered as they turned on. He stood on the curb and watched the cab take her toward a hostel in Mitte. He put his right palm in the air; half-saluting. Marcel Dettmann - Lattice He had been optimistic about seeing her again because she was so open about leaving Miami [...]

a little bit of chill time.. trust me - you deserve it. in the past couple of years, i have made a point to not go anywhere near music by artists with capitalised, vowelless names. but after coming across bnjmn and his new album " black square ", it looks like i'll be making an exception. in place of the 30 odd minutes of cheese encrusted, subtle-as-sledgehammers rubbish that i expected was a beautiful collection of fragile, ambient electronica and minimal - akin to [...]

techno. saturday. while omar and myself were in london, we were lucky enough to check out berghain's marcel dettman at an ostgut ton night.. much of the evenings proceedings passed in an intoxicated blur, but what i do remember is dettman's cold visage gazing out over the crowd whilst droves of pounding, no nonsense german techno stirred the crowd to frenzy. "planning" (a cut from his " translations " ep from last month) perfectly illustrates what we were faced with that night. fantastic: Marcel Dettmann - Planning [...]

i have to say that stepping back into the world of vinyl has - in a way - rekindled my excitement for music. it might sound obvious, but paying (considerably) more, dealing with waiting periods longer than 10 minutes and paying exponentially higher prices breed a kind of love and pride for your records that only a father could have. that's why it means quite a lot when i say that one of the clear stand outs in my first haul of vinyl has been greg paulus ' [...]

some soothing tunes today for my aching head: i really can't get enough of this wolf & lamb / soul clap p funk thing. i feel like their names have been popping up a lot on blouse recently, but i guess that reflects just how much their names have been popping up in my head. their mixtapes, singles, ep's, podcasts and sides a, b & all the way to z have been getting serious punishment from me. while their beats have been known to rock d-floors, i also feel that they should [...]

tuesday night.. chill time in the 'hood. one thing that i have discovered over the past few weeks is that chill time sure aint chill time without californian armon bazile (aka aybee ) and his overwhelmingly smooth, soulful beats. i initially found it hard to pin down his sound, but have since learned to get over it and just love his irresistible blend of soul, house and techno. this track, "ghetto sunrise" featured prominently on motor city drum ensemble 's fantastic resident advisor mix from '08.. soft pads, a gently bubbling bassline and chanting. [...]

woohoo! tech house fridays are back at last.. for some reason, there has been a lot of talk (mostly coming from me) about visiting berlin and the infamous techno institution that is berghain . the change in season seems to have brought a debaucherous twinkle to peoples eyes, and talk of the nefarious goings-on in that old power station only serves to fuel that fire. so too does the excellent mix series that the club has been releasing sporadically for six years. resident marcel fengler manned the wheels for the most [...]

Neon Indian and Toro Y Moi are bands I strongly associate. Partly because they came to indie prominence around the same time, in late 2009/early 2010. And partly because that's just how I happened to consume them. Neon Indian frontman Alan Palomo is a talented guy - a bit douchey - and has surfed a wave of popularity he could easily have fallen off (drugs/high expectations/The Pirate Bay). But his second album, Era Extraña , ticks some massive box. [...]

thursday already! welcome to the ease into the weekend. going to try and make it as smooth as possible this week - no need to over tax ourselves.. blouses favourite russians d-pulse popped up again recently with a vinyl release of their single " velocity of your love ".. good news! although the original is super (in a spaced out slow jam kind of way), it is the hot toddy mix that really got me really interested. its intense, warm grooves and bright, flowing guitars are so damn nice.. perfect summer sounds - hope [...]

i was just about to started discussing my fatigue after a weekend of heavy drinking in mallorca when i realised how much of a broken record blouse has become over the past few posts. oh god. my bad. so lets skip over that boring stuff and head straight to the business end of proceedings. (and yes, this music did make my travel and subsequent tough day at work much easier - as per usual.) i really like scuba. really. his moody, grimy, dark, atmospheric, often ethereal dubstep/techno fills many a role for me. i listen to [...]

monday. already falling asleep, exhausted on the couch. potential depression at length of week ahead. can the prospect of a weekend in mallorca (and a possible visit to ibiza) pep me up? anyhoo, with all these funk and 90's styled beats that have been hitting my ears of late, it felt like a natural thing to reacquaint myself with a certain mr dam funk . i have to admit that i havent exactly been keeping abreast on what he has been up to since his breakthrough " toeachizown ", and i was glad to see [...]

sorry for the lack of posting action on blouse recently.. omar and myself have been busy acquainting ourselves with the best of london's german techno scene - and getting our heads caved in in the process. my slow recovery has seen me take in plenty of softly spoken chillwave and folk, and it is only now (nearly two weeks later!) that i feel like i can start getting back into the swing of things. so back to regularly scheduled programming soon.. in the meantime, i would like to quickly share this incredibly amazing piece [...]

am feeling pretty damned ill today, so ill try to keep this short.. am trying to pep myself up as well, so i'll also try and keep it festive. sometimes i feel like bottin 's style of disco errs a little on the heavy-handed house side of things.. at other times i feel like it is just perfect. after listening to "bottin's coup d'etat" mix of his track "discocracy", my bottin-o-meter is definitely leaning more toward the "just perfect" side. nothing too subtle or challenging here, just a whole [...]

sometimes life is just so hard.. two weeks working on my tan in croatia, followed by 3 days of musical intrigue at flow festival . (sighs) the only way i can conquer such misery is to spend a goodly amount of time today on the couch, soothing my over-stressed mind with some smooth beats.. mr arthur russell shouldn't need any introduction.. his classic, lo-fi sounds are perfect for all forms of couch session, and his song "make 1 2" is no different. sprinkled with horns, percussion and a gently persuasive keyboard [...]

i will make no bones in saying that active child and his curtis lane ep have gotten me more excited than most things of late. ive only just cottoned onto mr pat grossi (late to the party once again), and i find the pure melodic beauty of his music - particularly his haunting, ethereal vocals - staggering. if you like washed out or m83, you will l-o-v-e this. amazing. Active Child - Weight Of The World do yourself a favour and grab [...]

sun outside? yep. probably a good day for some prins thomas & lindstrom wonderment. first up is a no nonsense balearic edit from prins thomas. it is an edit of marius vareid 's track "netlop".. love how he takes such the simple rhythm from the original, strips out all the fluff and compacts it into a driving, d-floor presence: Marius Vareid - Netlop (Prins Thomas Bonus Edit) this edit was pulled from marius vareid's "sang til sara" release of last [...]
