thursday already! welcome to the ease into the weekend. going to try and make it as smooth as possible this week - no need to over tax ourselves.. blouses favourite russians d-pulse popped up again recently with a vinyl release of their single " velocity of your love ".. good news! although the original is super (in a spaced out slow jam kind of way), it is the hot toddy mix that really got me really interested. its intense, warm grooves and bright, flowing guitars are so damn nice.. perfect summer sounds - hope [...]

i was just about to started discussing my fatigue after a weekend of heavy drinking in mallorca when i realised how much of a broken record blouse has become over the past few posts. oh god. my bad. so lets skip over that boring stuff and head straight to the business end of proceedings. (and yes, this music did make my travel and subsequent tough day at work much easier - as per usual.) i really like scuba. really. his moody, grimy, dark, atmospheric, often ethereal dubstep/techno fills many a role for me. i listen to [...]

monday. already falling asleep, exhausted on the couch. potential depression at length of week ahead. can the prospect of a weekend in mallorca (and a possible visit to ibiza) pep me up? anyhoo, with all these funk and 90's styled beats that have been hitting my ears of late, it felt like a natural thing to reacquaint myself with a certain mr dam funk . i have to admit that i havent exactly been keeping abreast on what he has been up to since his breakthrough " toeachizown ", and i was glad to see [...]

sorry for the lack of posting action on blouse recently.. omar and myself have been busy acquainting ourselves with the best of london's german techno scene - and getting our heads caved in in the process. my slow recovery has seen me take in plenty of softly spoken chillwave and folk, and it is only now (nearly two weeks later!) that i feel like i can start getting back into the swing of things. so back to regularly scheduled programming soon.. in the meantime, i would like to quickly share this incredibly amazing piece [...]

am feeling pretty damned ill today, so ill try to keep this short.. am trying to pep myself up as well, so i'll also try and keep it festive. sometimes i feel like bottin 's style of disco errs a little on the heavy-handed house side of things.. at other times i feel like it is just perfect. after listening to "bottin's coup d'etat" mix of his track "discocracy", my bottin-o-meter is definitely leaning more toward the "just perfect" side. nothing too subtle or challenging here, just a whole [...]

sometimes life is just so hard.. two weeks working on my tan in croatia, followed by 3 days of musical intrigue at flow festival . (sighs) the only way i can conquer such misery is to spend a goodly amount of time today on the couch, soothing my over-stressed mind with some smooth beats.. mr arthur russell shouldn't need any introduction.. his classic, lo-fi sounds are perfect for all forms of couch session, and his song "make 1 2" is no different. sprinkled with horns, percussion and a gently persuasive keyboard [...]

i will make no bones in saying that active child and his curtis lane ep have gotten me more excited than most things of late. ive only just cottoned onto mr pat grossi (late to the party once again), and i find the pure melodic beauty of his music - particularly his haunting, ethereal vocals - staggering. if you like washed out or m83, you will l-o-v-e this. amazing. Active Child - Weight Of The World do yourself a favour and grab [...]

sun outside? yep. probably a good day for some prins thomas & lindstrom wonderment. first up is a no nonsense balearic edit from prins thomas. it is an edit of marius vareid 's track "netlop".. love how he takes such the simple rhythm from the original, strips out all the fluff and compacts it into a driving, d-floor presence: Marius Vareid - Netlop (Prins Thomas Bonus Edit) this edit was pulled from marius vareid's "sang til sara" release of last [...]

I've been listening to a lot of music in the sky with diamonds lately. The stream of aural gems has come from the likes of Memory Tapes , Gang Gang Dance , Bon Iver , New Buffalo , Four Tet and you get the idea. Then I stand back and look myself in the mirror. I don't know who I am anymore. I wonder at what point I stopped caring about bangers. Uh-huh. I've tried to change this with The Count and Sinden . [...]

as i approach my tenth week of life in finland, i have to say that my mission of finding good, local finnish music has been trickier that first thought. a few exceptions aside, most of the music here seems to centre around metal or offensively cheesy finnish electro hip hop. not all is gloomy though - im lucky enough to be working with jesse - a finnish guy with quite the ear for good music. he has taken the liberty of exposing me to some excellent finnish bands, which i hope to take the liberty of showing to you. [...]

wow this post is going to be a good'un.. absolutely fit for a sunday of recovery. "snooze 4 love" is a recent todd terje number, lifted from his "ragysh" release from earlier this year.. the title track had me hooked initially , but the playful synths and happy/serious vibe of "snooze 4 love" make it my new favourite.. seriously love the multi-dimensional nature of this track. so much good stuff going on: Todd Terje - Snooze 4 Love check out the rest of "ragysh" here . [...]

down to a post a week.. the ol' time cupboards are evidently looking a little bare. apologies. being so heavily snowed under with work has really seen my musical selections enter much deeper waters of late.. one release that i have been particularly getting in to during this deep transition has been 6th borough project 's (aka the revenge /aka craig smith) album "one night in the borough". its plentiful samples and slow groove really bring artists like the avalanches and dj shadow to mind.. its deep, hypnotic disco and stripped down funk is impossible [...]

how do you feel today? hurt hurting a bit? maybe went a bit hard last night? hmmm.. me too. thats why it is an absolutely incredible idea to introduce this 'day mix' by los angeles and future classic residents poolside music into your life. unbelievably smooth, soulful house, hip hop and disco to ease you back into existence. put this on and curl up. now. Poolside Music - Day Mix this mix is accompanied by a 'night' mix that [...]

another day, another furiously exciting release from the cascine family. this time it comes in the form of a jensen sportag remix of memory tapes ' new single 'wait in the dark'. here, the nashville duo do a great job of planting (at least one of) 'wait in the dark's' feet firmly on the dancefloor with some smoky keys, slinky guitar glissando's and a driving 4/4 backbone. really, really nice: Memory Tapes - Wait In The Dark (Jensen Sportag Remix) 'wait in the dark' is the debut [...]
want to see something cool? this is something cool. something really cool: Björk - Crystalline (Omar Souleyman Remix) (Preview) a sneak peak inside syrian producer omar souleyman 's studio? intense footage of the man in action? synchronised syrian shuffling? extremely cool syrian singing with björk 's beats? yup - its all in there. check it out. and get excited for the full version. and here is the original in case you hadn't heard it: Björk - Crystalline word [...]

sorry for the blog silence over the past few days.. a trip to barcelona, numerous job interviews and a few other little jobs didnt make for a very productive blogger. im heading to my first scandinavian midsummer today, but i felt the urge to share some music before i left.. floating points seems to have been keeping himself busy recently with a couple of quality vinyl releases and a collaboration ep with vocalist fatima. good news! this track has really caught my ear of late.. it is entitled 'marilyn' and is lifted from his [...]

man.. ive really been feeling some bad ju-ju over the past 24 hours or so. plenty of crappy and annoying things happening. think ill definitely try to ride it out with some quality disco. first up is "ragysh" from todd terje . lifted from the "ragysh ep" (released in april), this track is typical of the high quality seen in terje's rare original productions.. solid, driving percussion, heavy electronic groove and some cosmic synths later on in the mix. top shelf disco - get involved: Todd Terje - Ragysh [...]
monday. time to ease back into the week.. interestingly monikered ' creep crawl flash ' recently sent his ' en route ep ' to blouse, and its down-tempo stylings sure have helped to ease us into the week. i'm really into the subtle, slowburning instrumentation & sampling, as well as the smoky jazz simmering just below the electronic surface. the title track "en route" is a stand out its lazily strummed sunday guitars and great vocal sample. check it out: Creep Crawl Flash - En Route if [...]
