sorry for the blog silence over the past few days.. a trip to barcelona, numerous job interviews and a few other little jobs didnt make for a very productive blogger. im heading to my first scandinavian midsummer today, but i felt the urge to share some music before i left.. floating points seems to have been keeping himself busy recently with a couple of quality vinyl releases and a collaboration ep with vocalist fatima. good news! this track has really caught my ear of late.. it is entitled 'marilyn' and is lifted from his [...]

man.. ive really been feeling some bad ju-ju over the past 24 hours or so. plenty of crappy and annoying things happening. think ill definitely try to ride it out with some quality disco. first up is "ragysh" from todd terje . lifted from the "ragysh ep" (released in april), this track is typical of the high quality seen in terje's rare original productions.. solid, driving percussion, heavy electronic groove and some cosmic synths later on in the mix. top shelf disco - get involved: Todd Terje - Ragysh [...]
monday. time to ease back into the week.. interestingly monikered ' creep crawl flash ' recently sent his ' en route ep ' to blouse, and its down-tempo stylings sure have helped to ease us into the week. i'm really into the subtle, slowburning instrumentation & sampling, as well as the smoky jazz simmering just below the electronic surface. the title track "en route" is a stand out its lazily strummed sunday guitars and great vocal sample. check it out: Creep Crawl Flash - En Route if [...]

im really starting to lose track of where weekends end and weekdays begin. and it is awesome. having no full time job for the first time in years is precisely as excellent as i thought it would be. i also really love matias aguayo 's music. everytime i listen to it, i envision a big truck with big speakers inching slowly down a road packed with sweaty, tanned dancers sipping on cheap beer.. and his latest ep "i dont smoke" definitely fits that mould. powerful, rhythmic percussion and minimal synth melodies. perfect for summer! im sweating [...]

with all the attention that the "new age" of r'n'b has been getting via artists like the weeknd and james blake , its only fitting that chad valley would throw his two cents in as well. available for free when you 'like' his facebook page , this collection of four edits really benefits from his slick, expansive chillwave stylings. r kelly, mariah carey and keri hilson are all featured, but i think i enjoyed his revisit of alicia keys' "try sleeping with a broken heart" the most.. keys' powerfully emotive vocals offset [...]

heyyy.. just got back from a week without computers in turkey. was nice to spend some time in the sun, but i realised once again just how big dave guetta et al are in the big scheme of things. really shit. anyway.. made up for it with efes and plenty of good beats on the balcony. this is what we listened to: kolombo surprised me with his latest release.. a couple of very grand, ambitious songs if i may say so myself. 'waiting for' is this continually building and blossoming piece [...]

Just imagine what Sauvage band members thought as they decided to make a song in which the first two-thirds were a complete waste of time. Imagine they did this intentionally so as to rock out the last third. This is what happened on 'Glory'. Now, I don't mean "waste of time" literally. The beginning of this track is compositionally intricate, it just sounds flat compared to the song's end. The intro doesn't really get anywhere, but this is to serve the song's climax. [...]

fuck. don't listen to what anyone has been telling you. 28+ hours of travelling is definitely not fun. 3 continents, 4 flights and 1 aching back later, here i am writing the first post from the new finnish outpost of blouse. hello! im still trying to figure out how to get this new fangled internet connection to work properly, but in the meantime i just wanted to share a little bit of my scandinavian excitement with you. norway's own rune lindbaek is (for me) one of the unsung heroes of the whole scandic disco [...]

been really loving hyetal 's new album ' broadcast '. it has a really fascinating blend of dark, brooding, atmospheric dubstep and classic - often uplifting - 80's synths and drums. great stuff - i strongly recommend you get into it. this track, 'phoenix' definitely sits on the happier end of the 'broadcast' spectrum: considered and somewhat calm synths and keys straddling a driving, constant dubby bassline. love the phil collins snare as well. Hyetal - Phoenix grab 'broadcast' by hyetal here . one thing that i really [...]

so much incredible music is being sent to us recently! thanks heaps for the beats and please keep them coming - we really appreciate it! san fran's giraffage shot through a copy of his ' pretty things ' ep the other day and i've really been getting into it. comparisons have been made between himself and the likes of star slinger & gold panda and i have to say that they are pretty spot on. the opening track 'a bird in the hand' features glittery, yet somehow dense chillwave synths and a [...]
have you heard from valerie recently? do you miss the filter house sound? to be honest, i thought i had moved on. until i heard this track from cascine 's chad valley . it really is the perfect extension of that banging, countach flavoured 80's house that valerie championed not that long ago. this is what it would have sounded like if that valerie sound had had more time to grow into itself - mature and get off the dancefloor. picture russ chimes jamming with washed out . ethereal [...]

are you excited about the royal wedding? no? me neither. two things i am excited about this week are: moving to finland (in 3 weeks!) and music that has had a good solid dip in 90's pop house. might be why finnish duo shine 2009 's have been having a good solid go around on my headphones recently. showing up bearing a full tray of bombastic breakbeats, big pianos and slickly emotive swagger, shine 2009 do a great job of faithfully channeling the best parts of that 90's pop sound that has been popping up [...]

do you feel like a spot of light friday entertainment? have you always wanted a kick ass dj name, but never found the creativity or inspiration to think of one? well luckily for you, good blouse friend milo firewater has created this handy (and slickly designed) site that will come up with one for you. check it out here . an afternoon of amusement waits. and if you are into breaks or dubstep, check out his beats here . really slick stuff. in other music news, i have been listening to various soul [...]

wow melbourne turned winter on quickly. hate how weather snaps like that. its only 4pm but outside looks like night. perfect disco ambience. to be frank, it feels awesome that black devil disco club is back with a new lp. it is called 'circus' and it is pretty much what i expected.. an awesome collection of quirky, claustrophobic, italo disco channeling quality that will have you happily squirming at home or on the d-floor. 'fuzzy dream' is typical 'circus'' sound.. heavy reverb, muffled percussion, italo disco synths and a eerie, almost tribal vibe: [...]

Since we last eavesdropped on SebastiAn , he has released another track to help us remember the blog house era and cry. The Embody EP was released a few days ago and sounds like Justice did in 2007. But don't hold that against him, because they have always sounded similar. You could ask whether Justice influence him, or if it was the other way around. Here's the answer: Go fuck yourself. SebastiAn - Embody This track has [...]

feeling a little bit excited today. might be because i am in the middle of a two (2) day week.. or maybe its because the songs im about to post are really f'ing good. hmm.. first up is a slice of hot disco fire from pete herbert and the awesome reverso 68 . sampling eartha kitt 's '84 classic ' where is my man ', this edit captures the glamourous life of 80's disco.. strings, throbbing basslines and kitt's distinctive vocals kicking in toward the end of the track. love when they do that: [...]

how nice it is to have time to think again.. and what better way to spend that time but by digging through my inbox. a couple of excellent toe-tappers landed in my lap today actually.. perfect hump day music. nôze have been relatively quiet of late, with a only a handful of remixes and guest appearances popping up.. things are likely to change though as they have just released their anticipated fourth album 'dring' on get physical . ive only just got my hands on it, but i've really enjoyed what i have heard [...]

Check out this new Panda Bear cut taken from an Animal Collective mixtape produced for the band's new line of sneakers . It's somehow related to Baltimore and horse racing . Weird. Hope you fall asleep to this track too (dreaming the dream dreamers dream): Panda Bear The preakness by aplaces
for a spot of variety on this glorious humpday, here is a recent wiley and mj cole production.. love the simple, dense dub production and wileys relentless flow. the clip is pretty spesh as well with loads of flashing lights, masked men and semi nude women. am especially into the public safety message at the start. love responsible beats. Wiley & MJ Cole - From The Drop the atmospheric mash up/edit on ramadanman & [...]
