There's some new music up on the Brandon Flowers site. Nothing that seems to be a full song, but more teasing of what's to come. It sounds good though, very thematic and a little orchestral feeling. Looking forward to hearing the finished product of Brandon's solo work, and seeing how it differs from his work with The Killers . The album, Flamingo , releases in September. A solo tour is due to follow. More details on the record in our previous post . [...]

Hey, what do you know? Alison and Vince plan to release a live album titled Reconnected Live on September 27th as a 2-CD set and download. The material was recorded during Yazoo's infamous return to the stage in over 25 years during the summer of '08. These shows also marked the first time that Nobody's Diary was performed live. We wonder if this was taken from multiple shows or encompasses one complete show in one city?

Miike Snow just released a video for new single, The Rabbit , mixed by non other than the infamous Stuart Price . No idea WTF is going on in this video, but that's why we love it. A bit freaky, random, and just out there. Watch and just take in the 2 Live Crew reference, if that doesn't make it one of the best videos of recent months, we don't know what would. For once, a new video that does [...]

Our 50th random video of the week! We've been able to keep this pretty consistent surprisingly and of course, pretty random. Our 50th comes to us in the middle of all of the recent Stone Temple Pilots hype surrounding their just released self titled record. All this STP chat reminded us of the video they did for Sour Girl with miss Buffy The Vampire Slayer herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar , all gothed out and looking hot. The video always stood out to us as [...]

The great Moz turns 51 today. Slicing Up Eyeballs is featuring the full Live In Dallas concert. Check it out here . Looking forward to Mozzer's next move. It's been a very quiet year.

A tiny bit of Chris Isaak news for a Friday, a new live album is on the way. Details are sparse at the moment, but we do know that the material was recorded at the Fillmore in San Francisco (shout out the the Bay!) during October 2008. We believe he was there on the 8th and the 9th. We also know that 17 tracks will be included. The booklet will contain original artwork by Isaak as well as accompanying photos shot at the Fillmore shows. It's sure to contain lots of Isaak's infamous banter [...]
He's all over lately. Enjoy She Needs Me , Faster Then The Setting Sun and Firebird .

Fyfe Dangerfield's not only in America for a string of shows, but he's also just launched a new video for his excellent cover of the Billy Joel classic She's Always A Woman . We love his simplistic take on the song. He stays fairly true to the original, but it has that overall Fyfe feel to it. Fyfe plays Hotel Cafe next Wednesday night in Hollywood. Expect to hear this cover and more stellar tracks form his solo debut Fly Yellow [...]

Every now and then we discover a track, or in this case an artist, that we were completely unfamiliar with in the 80's. It always shocks us, especially when it falls into the New Wave or Modern Rock categories. This week's discovery? Peter Godwin (thanks to the amazing Viva Radio DJs). Heard the track Art Of Love (some great 80's style UK remix), which lead to other discoveries such as the video for Babies In The Mountains , a hit Godwin [...]

Trashcan Sinatras recorded a nice little session for Daytrotter . The four-song set includes a previously unheard and unreleased track called The Stairs Of New York . The other three tracks are taken from the band's most recent album, In The Music . All great, but we would have liked to hear a classic in there, a little Obscurity Knocks perhaps? Listen/download the session over at Daytrotte r. By the way, how insanely great is Daytrotter ? [...]

What do you know? It's Norway Day (or more correctly Norwegian Constitution Day ). Fitting as we just took in a-ha's triumphant return to Los Angeles this weekend at Club Nokia. First time seeing them, and completely impressed. The guys played material which spanned their entire career. We had no idea how many amazing songs they possessed. Spending lots of time revisiting their past 9 albums. The Blood That Moves The Body is a new personal favorite track. a-ha [...]

As we've said before, Eat Raw Meat = Drool Blood is our favorite tracks from Editors In This Light And On This Evening . Actually, it's one of our favorite Editors tracks of all time. The release encompasses six tracks, including two previously unreleased b-sides, Alone and Thousands Of Lovers . They've kept consistent with the single art (above) throughout this album's releases. Full [...]

The details are starting to take shape around Brandon Flowers upcoming solo album Flamingo . Flowers spilled some details in the recent issue of NME primarily announcing his collaboration with Jenny Lewis , including a duet number called Hard Enough . Flowers told the mag, "she's always popped into my mind whenever I think about getting a female vocalist involved because she's a fellow child of Las Vegas, too." We actually like the [...]

Great shot of Flowers and the black balloon, complete with sheriff-style badge. Photo shot by the excellent Dean Chalkley . He's shot an amazing roster of folks. He also moonlights as a DJ occasionally. For more of his work, visit his official site . There's lots of eyes and ears on Flowers right now as he preps his first solo album titled Flamingo . From the sound of the audio tease on the new Brandon Flowers site (well, splash [...]

Happy Birthday to one of our favorite front-people ever, Mr. Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode fame. We're a day late, but Happy Birthday anyway. Gahan turns 48.

Huh, interesting time to depart with the band's fourth album on the way. Carlos D (Dengler) makes his exit from Interpol to pursue other avenues. All the best to him. Will be bizarre to have him missing from Interpol as he was always one of the members who served as the "face' to the band. The Interpol crew posted the following message on their official site - Dear fans, As some of you [...]

Fyfe Dangerfield has covered the Billy Joel classic She's Always A Woman for a UK ad campaign. The great thing is, he's actually done a pretty stellar job with it. Making us pay attention to a song we never gave much ear time. Listen below. The cover is for sale on iTunes in the UK only. Now if we could only get a copy of Dangerfield's excellent solo album Fly Yellow Moon here in the U.S. [...]

XTC combined their original Apple Venus records (volume 1 and 2) into a thirteen 7" vinyl box set. The set will include three tracks previously available only as digital downloads. Funny, from digital to physical, we love the return to form here vs. the other way around nowadays! The three tracks exclusive to this physical release - Say It , Spiral , and Where Did The Ordinary People Go . The vinyl singles [...]
