We've got to say, after all these years of silence from Blur proper, it's great to hear something new. Quite a good song as well. Hope this leads to more new material AND some U.S. dates somewhere down the line.

The scooters were in full effect outside Club Nokia last night as fans descended upon the venue to catch The Specials pre-Coachella show. The crowd resulted in a sea of Fred Perry . A couple "rude girls' took the stage for some skankin', and No Doubt (sans Adrian Young ) were in attendance. Tony Kanal tweteed the following message during the show: finally getting to see The Specials with my bandmates...waiting a lifetime for [...]

We consider ourselves pretty major Morrissey fanatics, yet we didn't realize that Mozzer's old pal Pete Burns ( Dead or Alive ) once joined The Smiths on stage back in April of 1985 at the Royal Albert Hall. Both Morrissey and Burns shared vocals on Barbarism Begins At Home . That Smash Hits cover keeps leading us to more and more discoveries. Listen to Burns belt out [...]

In and update to our original post regarding Blur's new song release (via 7" vinyl) on Record Store Day ( see details ), the band have announced the name of the new track - Fool's Day . Image of the limited-edition release above in the stylish blue Parlophone sleeve. Wish this one was coming to U.S. shores. Anxious to hear it.

Another overseas release we won't be able to pick up this weekend on Record Store Day . The UK is tallying up quite a few great exclusives. First Blur (see 7" details here ) and now Pet Shop Boys. The duo will release a limited (1,000 copies) 7" single featuring two previously unreleased tracks - Side A: Love Life (recorded in 2001) Side B: A Powerful Friend (recorded in 2002) [...]

It's just about time for our favorite "holiday" of the year, Record Store Day . Though we feel like we celebrate our cherished local records stores weekly, and oh do we ever, it's the one day a year to really show support and make it official. We will be heading out to pick up lots of Record Store Day exclusives, as well as partaking in our usual perusal for additions to the never ending vinyl collection. Way back in 1994 we secured our first gig in the music industry. One of the initial band's we worked with was The Figgs . A new track from Blur is on the way for Record Store Day , April 17th. Details are scare at this point, but we do know that the track will arrive via an extremely limited 7" (only 1,000 copies pressed) and will only be available in the UK. A bit off topic for us here as we don't usually discuss film scores, but every now and then one comes along that entices us musically. Everyone needs a little film score love in their musical collections. The latest to really catch our ear is Ramin Djawadi's score for the Clash Of The Titans remake. We took in a screening of the film two nights ago, and yes, we kinda loved it. We are huge fans of the original, so of course nothing can compare. Visually, they did a good job re-creating [...]

What a pairing! The once infamous UK music mag Smash Hits featured both Morrissey and Dead or Alive's Pete Burns on their October 22, 1985 cover. A four-page interview with both Moz and Burns is highlighted within. Wonder if the two are still friends? Well damn it, White Rose Movement called it quits. Bummer. Fans have been waiting on a follow up to the band's debut Kick since its release back in 2006. A real shame since Kick was a pretty stellar album, and we'd been anxiously waiting to see what the Movement folks had up their sleeves next. Sure, a few new songs appeared via the band's MySpace here and there, but no actual cohesive body of work. We are seriously sad about this. [...]

A little 1997 jangly pop for a Friday afternoon. This track plays out like a late 90's alternative summer anthem. Summertime is taken from the band's last album Static and Silence . Harriet Wheeler had such a great, soothing voice. Where is she now? Happy weekend....
