Hey guys. I know I haven't made a post in a while... Some of it's because I've been busy, some of it's because I'm just plain lazy. Anyway, I'm back, and this is the first post of a new feature called "Random Album I Just Bought". (Yeah, I'm obviously desperate for ideas) I'll be making posts about the last album I've purchased, whether it's complete crap or not. It should be interesting because you'll be seeing a lot of newer releases, along with some older stuff. [...]
Hailing from Orlando Florida, The OaKs (I'm pretty sure the capitalized K is part of the official name) are a great indie folk/rock/pop act. Yeah I'm getting really tired of fitting bands into genres like that, but people should know what to expect shouldn't they? It was late 2003, just 2 years after the attacks on the World Trade Centers. Ryan Costello sold all of his possessions, then joined a humanitarian organization and moved to Afghanistan. Living there for 2 years, he worked in the mountains with refugees, teaching them agricultural techniques, and learned their native language of [...]
Los Angeles noise rockers Health are kicked off a tour yesterday with electro champs Crystal Castles for a pretty sizable US tour. Keep an eye out for Health during 2008, apparently they're supposed to be the next big thing or something. However, it is a "noise rock" band, something that will surely throw a lot of people off. (Eh, they're all right.) Anyway, they released their debut last year on Lovepump United , and will be playing SXSW this year. [...]

The weekly remix contest at music blog Pornophony ended a few days ago, and the final mixes are in. The song was El Perro del Mar's "Party". Grab 'em here and listen for yourself, then head over to Pornophony to vote for your favorite. Here's the original song if you missed it... MP3: El Perro del Mar - Party Havisham Remix MP3: El Perro del Mar - Party (Havisham Remix) [...]

Ladies and gentlemen, we have an official cover. Tokyo Police Club's keyboardist Graham Wright uploaded that a few days ago, along with some new info on the album. The title track, "Elephant Shell" is no longer in the tracklisting, but the masterpiece that is "Your English" is included, something that I'm very happy about. Wright elaborates... " A Lesson in Crime was a record for Friday nights. It was the record you would throw on at the party with twenty of your friends, the record that everyone could get up and dance to. It [...]
I can safely say I've found my new favorite electronic artist. Decomposure is Caleb Mueller, the man behind the fantastic work of art that is Vertical Lines A . Similar to other artists such as Amon Tobin, Decomposure uses a variety of samples that are not necessarily very musical, but arranges them to create something beautiful. Although his material is nowhere near as industrial sounding as some of Tobin's work, it still has that nice glitchy sound that I love. It's the perfect balance of glitchy-electro and soft/intricate vocal melodies. A good way [...]
This one's for fans of indie flavored folk, Americana , and bluegrass. Reed KD, a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer, is a great indie-pop/folk act from Northern California . The San Francisco based artist is set to release The Ashes Bloom today on Dirty Laundry Records . The album was written, produced, recorded, and mixed by Reed himself throughout 2006. The resulting record is a masterpiece of beautiful elements that really shows how talented he is all around. Reed and his touring band, The Armchair Aviators, [...]

Music blog Pornophony is having a weekly remix contest and it's open to anyone. The first contest began just an hour ago, and ends exactly a week from now. (So the due date is February 18th) I, along with 4 other music blogs: Loudersoft , Rock Sellout , Cubikmusik , and A.M. 180 will be judging the final entries, as well as picking a winner. The song being remixed is El Perro del Mar's [...]
Infectious. That's the best word I can come up with to describe this band from my very own hometown of Cincinnati. These guys have been on heavy rotation in my iTunes since I saw them open for Peter Bjorn And John a few months ago. Mixing elements of pop and indie rock, they manage to pull off a sound that many bands fail to do without sounding clich é. Honestly, this is quality material we're talking about here, and it's amazing how fast this band has developed. 1 week [...]
Oh my, this is exciting. There have been recent reports that Tunde Adebimpe (of TVOTR ) and Kyp Malone (of The Roots ) have teamed up in the studio. The groups recorded a track for the upcoming Soundtrack For A Revolution documentary. Soundtrack For A Revolution is an upcoming documentary about the Civil Rights Movement. The project was organized by Corey Smyth and produced/directed by Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman. The film, along with its soundtrack is being released as [...]
A Holy Fuck remix of M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" emerged today, and it's a banger. Remixing an already sample heavy track isn't an easy feat, but then again... This isn't your typical remix. Think of it as a brand new song from Holy Fuck, but with sampled vocals from Paper Planes. Buy from Amazon Upcoming shows Here's the remix, and an excellent track from their new album, "LP." MP3s M.I.A. - Paper Planes (Holy Fuck Remix) [...]
Two new releases that I've been anticipating came out in the US today. Those two would be Hot Chip's 3rd full length, and Lightspeed Champion's debut. Lightspeed Champion - Falling Off The Lavender Bridge Lots of hype for this guy huh? I heard about Lightspeed Champion (Devonte Hynes) not too long ago, and didn't really know what to think. The first material I heard from him was his I Wrote And Recorded This Album In [...]

So this is the first of hopefully many compilations. (Or mixtapes... Whatever you want to call them). There's no particular theme exactly, it's just a random collection of things I've been listening to lately. For the most part, it is sort of folk oriented, but with a tinge of electronic and pop. There's actually a folk-ified cover of a Jo-Jo song in there, by Daniel Rossen from Grizzly Bear , that's particularly good. In other news, I'm pissed off. Islands are coming to Cincinnati and an awesome highschool local band called Pomegranates are opening for [...]

Yeah, I'm about a month late for this, I know. But I just started this blog 2 days ago, and figured... Why not? I've also included 5 MP3s from albums on the list. 1: Burial - Untrue (Electronic) Burial? At number one? Is he serious? The answer is yes. I know the hype for this album has been crazy, at times ridiculous, but I truly feel this is a work of art. Call it dubstep, minimal, ambient, or whatever you want, but it really deserves a genre of its own. [...]

Hey guys, this is my music blog, or mp3 blog, to put it bluntly. I'm Tim, and I'll be posting songs, videos, and anything else of interest on here. (I'll do my best to update regularly.) The way I determine what songs to post about is kind of random... It isn't necessarily going to be something new. Anything that interests me at the moment is fair game. Every once in a while, I'll be posting compilations, or mix-tapes in the form of zip files. To the free mp3s! Today's [...]
