Coldplay released their official video for the single ' Viva La Vida .' At the same time, they also put out another version they shot that was more Coldplay-esq . As usually, I prefer the weird stuff . Come on, who wouldb't love Chris Martin as a king? Maybe not the common people but at least he's got 3 followers!

As you are 下週一(8/4)就是 Travis台北演唱會 了! 前些日子向友人介紹 Travis 而寫了一些小感想,還 決定要不要去,或還沒 會聽到 Travis 音樂的朋友可以做為參 考! Travis 整體的聲音比較柔,但 後勁很強.每種樂器都 強烈旋律性.組合成容 易引起共鳴的節奏. 主唱Fran的音域極廣又 暖,一年四季都適合聆 .歌詞部份也是走溫馨 路線居多,演唱會上萬 合唱總是可以激起強 感情波動!以下是幾首 最喜歡的,或是他們比 較有名的歌: Why Does It Always Rain On Me [from 1999 " The Man Who "] 看歌名就懂,這是衰人 專屬主題曲.我們總是 有想大罵"x的 怎麼那麼衰"的時刻,而 些總是大聲罵的人可 就變成玩重金屬去了( no offense).含蓄的英國人則 會轉為哀怨,然後把這 歌放到最大聲,扯著嗓 跟著大喊"Why Does It Always Rain On Me?"我在高中時因為這 歌而喜歡上Travis, 歌詞中"Is it because I lied when I was seventeen?"如同當頭棒喝, 17歲的小毛頭都會流下 恨的眼淚.... Writing To Reach You [from 1999 " The Man Who "] 這是首心碎的情歌,與 人分手後時間就此停 ,整個世界也左右顛倒, 沒有秩序可言.這是很 人的歌,倒盡情傷之痛, 就像"Killing Me Softly"那樣悲情.這首歌 基本旋律是從 Oasis 的 Wonderwall "借"來的,歌詞中也提到 了"Wonderwall",算對 Oasis 致敬吧! Melodia 不同的唱片公司對一個 樂團會有多大的影響? The Vines 就可以體會到其中之差 異. 主流唱片公司讓人又愛 又恨,它龐大的資金與 場是讓你的樂團聞名 球的最好管道,但這些 花花的鈔票可不是靠 團在錄音室為每個小 吹毛求疵而來的. 不間斷的巡迴,宣傳,訪 與廣告曝光等等需要 團出現的活動是唱片 司收入的主要來源.有 時候這樣的壓力會使" 創作為目標"而踏入音 圈的新樂團招架不住( 連 Coldplay 這樣的大團都抱怨過唱 片公司所施加的發片壓 力). 所以每當 The Vines 一出現,大家不免就要 到幾年前主唱Craig Nicholls在 Letterman的演出上失控 還有他被診斷出艾斯柏 格症候群(自閉症的一 )這些事.......經過了幾 個月的治療和rehab,Craig Nicholls戒掉了大麻也重 吉他回到 The Vines ,而其他原始團員也都 紛離去. 這一切都在他們還屬於 Capital Records旗下時發生.在三 專輯之後, The Vines 離開Capital Records轉而選擇了獨立 片公司Ivy League Records. 沒有了唱片公司的壓力 ,The Vines雖然沒有停下腳步 也漸漸放慢步伐. 新專輯 Melodia 請到了 Highly Evolved 與 Winning Days 專輯的製作人Rob Schnapf,雖然有點緬懷過 的味道,但也是個新的 開始. Melodia 延續 The Vines 一貫的風格:平均兩分 的曲長還有狂放與柔 兼具的曲目. 有" He's A Rocker "這種簡潔又朗朗上口 爽快飆音,也有" Autumn Shade III "這般迷幻又勾人的奇 旋律. Melodia 沒有太多新奇的嘗試不 過依然保有 The Vines 最讓人喜愛的原素. 在整張專輯最長--達6分 鐘--的浪漫小品" True As The Night "再次證明 The Vines 能夠創作出好歌的能力 ,Craig Nicholls的聲音恣意的悠 ,聽者不自覺的陷入慵 懶放鬆的狀態,如氣球 飄盪,被輕柔的弦樂帶 明亮又舒適的夢想之 . 我喜歡 Melodia 嗎? 我不確定,我一直以來 The Vines 都抱有複雜的情感, 2002年的 Highly Evolved 帶給我無法取代的聆聽 享受, Winning Days 其中幾首好歌也不斷在 我心中盤旋, Vision Valley 卻沒讓我留下太多印象 . 我不知道自己是否還在 期待有一天 Highly Evolved 的 The Vines 會再次出現,但我始終 著對 Highly Evolved 的喜愛,用心的體會 The Vines [...]
