I know I've posted this before, but we feel like posting it again because it's Monday and we hate Monday, but also because yesterday I took too much Valium and don't feel like being at work today. You're lucky I'm not also posting Brak songs . NOFX - Creeping Out Sara

When I opened this email I envisioned some horrible Bon Scott era AC/DC tribute shit, complete with unfortunately tight pants, not so young men, and long hair fashioned into some kind of hipster cut. I know, I know... so why'd I open it? I don't have an answer for that question but I'm seriously glad that I did. Here's the rundown: WhoMadeWho are two dudes from Denmark on this label called Kompakt.fm (that has a huge list of artists I'll be excited to sift through in the coming weeks...). They played at SXSW in 2010 and just released [...]

I've been gone a while and I'm not sure how credible my recommendations are at this point, but hear me out on this one. These dudes are from (some other unnamed and self-proclaimed notable bands out of) Seattle and they call themselves My Goodness . I'm still not sure what my final decision is - they might totally suck or they might be awesome, but either way the song in the video (posted below) gave me the same feeling I get when I listed to Aenima (Tool. Duh.) In fact, I think they sound like what would [...]

The first thing I ever heard from Hooray For Earth was a remix of Coma Cinema 's 'Her Sinking Sun.' I'm pretty big on remixes so I asked google where I could find some more.... in addition to some tunes, google gave me some 411 - Hooray For Earth formed in Boston in 2006 and currently hail from the big apple. Their latest LP, True Loves , just dropped on Tuesday and If you are in NYC you can check them out at Webster Hall on June 16th with Architecture in Helsinki!!! The rest [...]
![Zed’s Dead Remixes – Sublime, Rolling Stones, Radiohead [MP3]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3379028_lg.jpg)
It's been a while since yall heard from me. I apologize. I'm gonna keep this one real short and to the point. Zed's Dead is a dubstep production duo from Canada. Their song "19753 is currently climbing the hype machine charts and was featured in a super-sexy behind the scenes video of Russian super model Irina Shayk's GQ photo shoot. Here's some candy for your eyes: And here's some candy for your ears: Zed's Dead - 1975 Radiohead - Pyramid Song (Zed's [...]

This guy is pretty good. The dude kinda reminds me of Ben Gibbard (specifically 'I'll Follow You Into the Dark' which is like the saddest/best song ever, and I don't even like Death Cab), and his name also happens to be Ben - Benjamin Francis Leftwich . Dig this little acoustic diddy called 'Pictures' - the lead track from his March 7th release on Dirty Hit. Which, I should add, was produced by Ian Grimble (Mumford Sons, Manic Street Preachers, Siouxsie The Banshees). The EP melds Benjamin’s flair for delicate and beautiful songwriting as it glides from the deft [...]
![Band To Watch – Vanaprasta [INTERVIEW]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3151119_lg.jpg)
Hi. I'm Steven. When C4 asked if I wanted to contribute to FW I had absolutely no idea what or who I'd write about. After I mulled it over for about a million years I decided I was over thinking it. A couple of months ago I went to some random show at the Troubadour. I'd never heard of any of the bands on the bill but I walked out of that show having heard one of the best local acts I'd ever heard. Enter Vanaprasta . The five members of Vanaprasta create edgy, [...]

Kanye West’s fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy , sold half a million units in its first week and received perfect review ratings from Rolling Stone , Pitchfork , and other top music critics. Congrats Kanye, but I'm not gonna let you finish. (Ba dum ch!) This article is not about Kanye West. It’s about an artist who was, perhaps, the most unexpected guest artist on Kanye's latest record - Bon Iver . I didn’t really pay attention to Bon Iver until 'Monster', the first Good Friday release - but then I [...]

I'll keep it short & sweet: Preview Daft Punk's original score from the upcoming feature film TRON: Legacy right now via the Hollywood Records myspace page . WARNING: it is pretty fucking mind-melting.

We're a little slow on the blog these days and probably will be for quite some time, but here's a little something to tide you over for a bit. Our buddies Mouth's Cradle just dropped a new mixtape - dig The Hype here, and download the whole release at the link below. LISTEN Mouth's Cradle - The Hype DOWNLOAD (external link)

If pure sound had the capability to project images on a blank wall, Mini Mansions would be worthy projectionists. On a break from Queens of the Stone Age, Michael Shuman melded heads and locked arms with longtime friends Tyler Parkford and Zach Dawes in a dusty room in the San Fernando Valley. Here, they began a collaborative séance out of which birthed Mini Mansions in January of 2009. Though their triangle is usually confined to piano, bass, and a cocktail drum kit, the LA-based trio generates a Technicolor spectrum of sound drawn from the baroque, gothic, psychedelic, and [...]

Gang Of Four , one of the most radical and important groups of the last thirty years, are proud to announce a headlining tour of North America beginning February 4th in Toronto, ON. The band will tour in support of their upcoming album, C O N T E N T, their first new material in 16 years. Set for a January 25h release on Yep Roc Records (whose website is down, otherwise I would've tossed a link in here), C O N T E N T is "every bit as powerful and insightful as their classic work that has [...]

We here at the Weapon absolutely love (most) Brian Eno stuff. In fact, we actually used Mr. Eno as the subject of a "Composer Report" for a music theory class in college, and incidentally we own absolutely everything the man has ever released, and almost everything he has produced/collaborated on/been affiliated with in some way. A couple months ago we mentioned that Brian Eno will release a new solo album on Warp Records, but we were super busy as we were once again on the job hunt, and thus we neglected to come forth with the details of the upcoming [...]

When The Black Heart Procession broke their three-year silence with last year’s critically-lauded comeback, Six , it showcased the iconic band born from the self-imposed hiatus of Three Mile Pilot returning to its roots, crafting the kind of minimalist noir ballads that made them so beloved in the first place. Returning to its core duo of Pall Jenkins and Tobias Nathaniel for the making of Six proved to be just the burst of inspiration the group needed. With fewer cooks in the kitchen, the two could explore the farthest reaches of their creative impulses like [...]

KEIN HASS DA sprechen sie Bad Brains en deutsch. And they fucking rule. Seriously, these german dudes are really just a bad brains tribute band, except for one difference: they've re-done 25 Bad Brains songs from 78-89 - IN GERMAN. I guess they also wrote their own lyrics and they'll be releasing a CD & book called Hirntrafo, complete with illustrations and comics, on November 5th. [...]

I've been vibing pretty hard on 93.5 (kday) because they play shit like Digital Underground , Kriss Kross, SWV, and TLC. In fact, the topic of this post was initially going to be Onyx, but this blog I've never heard of but will probably continue to read just so happened to be a step ahead of me. Dig their Old School Wednesday post if you'd rather sit & reminisce about Onyx. But If you're like me, you think Humpty is fucking hilarious and you can't believe Tupac was in a group with this [...]

So I myself didn't get to FYF Fest this year, but the fantastic Fever Dragon did and he produced some stellar images this year. You can find reviews somewhere else, but for a sense of what went down in image form, this is the place. [...]

Fierce Creatures emerged from the scorching Fresno, CA summer of 2009. Abandoning past musical undertakings that never quite seemed to fit, the band came together to build an identity free of limitations - an identity focused on the joy of undiluted music. Guitars and keys drive their tunes, while mandolin, harmonica, and bells accentuate them with chanting choruses and a miscellany of percussion. The product: cultivated art-pop that can only be called Fierce Creatures. Dig the clips and tunes below, and if you're into it you can snag the debut EP I Mostri Feroci here . [...]

Even though I’m not going back to school this time around, my summer is almost over, and like the one before it, this one had a soundtrack. Last summer's playlist was made up of Trojan Records box sets, Easy Star Allstars, and Leftover Crack (C4 can definitely vouch for that!), but his summer I've been vibing on more exotic electronic music that has been (justly) overrun by Diplo . In case you weren't aware, Diplo is a fantastic producer who seems to surround himself with the coolest and most talented musicians from all corners of the earth. [...]

Fareed and Connor are Headless Horseman , and you should give a shit about that because Headless Horsemen makes some good tunes. Truth be told, I don't know shit about electronic music. I'm not gonna lie. I mean, the mash-up remixy what sample is this kinda electro is not something on which I profess to be the oracle. But I do know when shit sounds good, and if after you listen to the track Wavlngth you can say you aren't into it then you probably shouldn't be reading this blog like, ever, cause this sound kinda embodies exactly what [...]
