Passion Pit is having a pretty creative remix contest for "Little Secrets" a single from their upcoming, monstrous-hype-generating full-length, Manners . Basically, you take the snippets they provide and build a remix. Then everyone votes and the top 5 get a spot on the vinyl, with the 5 runners-up getting the vinyl and an autographed CD of Manners . My roommate and good buddy " Amplifya " is currently #2. His remix is actually the best, in my COMPLETELY unbiased opinion (although the others are pretty good, too). Take a [...]

Props to Flickr-mastr an93 for this sick shot of SMD. Check his Flickr here. So I'm gonna wing this the best that I can; as I mentioned before, Simian Mobile Disco played an absolutely mindblowing set at Pure in Philly this past Friday... to the best of my knowledge. I say this because I myself was awash in the venue's generous open bar, free pizza, and some unnecessary personal drama that we won't get into here, heh. ...Again, I'm going to wing [...]

Just A Band is a electro-house duo ( Tom Deluxx & stellA ) from Bordeaux, France. ...HEY! Get the hell back here. These guys really aren't just another shitty Justice -wannabe. I promise. Honestly, they make some of the most exciting house you've heard in a while. Yes, you can hear some slight Justice-aping, but really these are the perfect spring/summer jams to grind on that random person to. Their two main singles (and accompanying EPs) are absolutely epic: "Burn It Out!" is an [...]

Photo by Rachel Carr for Prefixmag. Check out the rest of her Sunday Coachella photos here: Prefixmag.com So I'm TOTALLY bummed that I dropped the ball on every single chance I had to see Throbbing Gristle while they were here. But thanks to my obsessive combing of the interwebz and some good friends, I managed to peep some awesomeness in real time AND find enough resources to quench my thirst for the gristle. Check it: Rae Threat sent some mobile uploads from the [...]

I'm not REALLY sure how old this info is - the videos go back to October of 08, but I hadn't heard word one about Sublime reuniting until I got back to LA - that was only a month ago. I want tour dates, bitches. I don't even care if it's with a new singer . Which it'd obviously have to be, unless they figured out a way to channel spirits or something. &bnsp; A little more about that: [...]

So Death Cab is one of those bands that's been a holdover for me since my high school days. I think they've actually matured pretty well, and found a good niche for their sound. Ben Gibbard's ear for catchy melodies can't really be disputed (see: that Postal Service record I was never really into ), and Chris Walla's production chops are top notch (remember when he did that Knock Knock Knock EP for Hot Hot Heat ? He made those guys sound like they had mad swagger back then). [...]

So I'm seeing Simian Mobile Disco tomorrow at Pure in Philadelphia. This is the same spot I saw Cut Copy at, and it was absolutely bat shit crazy. If you're in the area, I highly suggest coming out. The light show kinda looks like this: I'm sure you can see why I'm stoked. Few shows get me more excited than electronic ones, if only because of the juxtaposition of visuals and the different [...]

Sorry guys, I've been too busy watching Cheaters , being a fatty, and promoting this stuff to post much lately.... but re-adjusting to the so-cal lifestyle is getting less taxing, so you can expect that once I find a place to live and buy some groceries I'll be giving you your Daily Bummer's, Flashback Fridays, and Fantastic Picks once again. Here's a brief one for the moment: Folktronica artist, James Yuill . Do people really use the term "folktronica"? I have qualms with it, especially in this circumstance cause this isn't really all that [...]

Psychic TV is my favorite band ever, so you can imagine how please I am to announce that Throbbing Gristle has added a Los Angeles show to their list of current tour dates. STOKED! In addition to night 3 at Coachella (same night as [tag]The Cure[/tag] AND [tag]My Bloody Valentine[/tag]), they will be playing April 21st at the Ricardo Montalblan Theatre. Details are as follows: THROBBING GRISTLE TUESDAY 21st APRIL - LOS ANGELES Ricardo Montalblan Theatre - 1615 North Vine Street, Hollywood [...]

So in Illinois I was living at this house where there were shows once or twice a month, that everyone called The Day Old Basement . Whether or not there was a good band on the bill was kind of hit or miss, and the last thing I expected of a bluegrass trio from Moline, IL was for them to totally rule. They call themselves The Purtneers had a very reserved demeanor (until they got on stage), and their myspace page boasts an extremely modest description of how awesome they really are: [...]

So when I was like 16 I had this Cattle Decapitation s/t LP on cow print vinyl that I probably only bought cause it was on cow print vinyl (this was before I realized I actually hated most of that threeoneg shit). I was eventually persuaded to trade the LP for 2 other records. One was a copy of ' Hunky Dory ' and the other was a record I'd never seen before, by a band I'd never heard of. That record was called 'Arena of Shame' by a super-rare early 90's outfit called Carey's Problem. [...]
Technorati Profile The pop world's next big thing, Lady Gaga hits the Risers stage with an exclusive interview to discus her influences, the art of music and how she's fulfilling her destiny. And she's totally got some insane hair to go along with it. Truth be told, I'm not too into her sound, but I am damn jealous that she's only 22, already has 2 Billboard hits, and isn't even REALLY all that talented. I guess she plays with like, Miley Cyrus, and the Pussycat Dolls. I'd say "sucks for her" but she's probably made [...]

Greetings from a train in the middle of Illinois. Check out this picture of my boyfriend doing what he does quite a bit of: But seriously guys, I really only have one thing to say: You think you're ready? go tell everyone:

This post was inspired by a comment on the Brokencyde post I made a few months back. Dude who calls himself Fizz said, God - spare me the hate spewing "critics"! This music is not about listening to seasoned professional musicians. It's about these young guys who put sounds together with a keyboard and computer and came up with something cool. It's about dance beats, trash talking and having a good time. It's raunchy, sexual, I'm sure it's making parents toes curl around the world, AND it's leaving people like you scratching your head saying "wtf?". [...]

DUDE! I LIKE THIS! I'm so totally stoked right now cause I haven't been into ANYTHING AT ALL and it has been HORRIFIC. I've barely even been able to crank out a really shitty post about some even shittier tunes in like almost a month. So let me start by thanking you, Quinn Walker. I dig your style. And it was really hard to choose a photo from your myspace profile because there are SO FUCKING MANY and they're all like, either really, really awkward or make you look like that Shifty dude from Celebrity Rehab. [...]

I've been away for like a gajillion years cause nothing has moved me enough to write about it. I think it's fitting that my first post after such a long absence would have something to do with shit that totally sucks. I can not emphasize it enough: this TOTALLY sucks. I mean, what the FUCK is this shit? I wanted my friend Chris to draw mustaches on their faces in this photo, but I feel like the level of suck is obvious enough - no defacing required. This ain't no daily [...]

Sorry I've been gone for so long. A lot of shit went down but basically, this is the gist of it: But If You Must Know, Here's Where I've Been For The Past 3 Weeks: 1. Visiting a friend in Macomb, IL: 2. Promoting the crap out of Buzznet's first Big Story. It was about Twilight. You can find it [...]
