It is with great sadness that I announce that the world has lost a great actor and a great person to Alzheimer's Disease. Yesterday Charlton Heston, of Planet of the Apes fame (as well as numerous other films), lost his battle with the disease. Or, as Charlton once put it, finished his battle by calling "a draw". He was 84 years old. My favorite of Heston's films, though rivaled closely by the original Planet of the Apes and Ben-Hur , is the 1973 sci-fi classic Soylent Green . The soundtrack for the [...]
Usually I only post videos of specific songs, however this collection of HILARIOUS outtakes from The Muppet Show 's musical segments definitely deserves posting. It's very well put together, and it reminds me why I love Beaker and the rest of The Muppets so much! Direct link to the video Muppet Central.com [...]
![MP3: The Beatles, “Across the Universe [Rare Unreleased Version]”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/987109_lg.jpg)
Back in 1968, The Beatles were reaching the end of their careers as a band. Each member had their own thing going for the most part as arguments in the studio grew more and more rampant. John Lennon was widely considered the most stubborn of the lot. We're all familiar with the popular versions of Lennon's song, "Across the Universe" which was featured on the band's last release, Let it Be , but very few have heard this unreleased version that Lennon recorded by himself that I came across one day. Honestly, I [...]
Big big BIG changes here at You Sound Like A Robot over the past month. Most notably, there's no "blogspot" in my url. Also, my entire layout has changed as the blog is now Wordpress powered and I have a hosting plan with inMotion Hosting . That means a heavier concentration of downloads will be flying at you via your favorite music blog (I like to think so, at least). After the big changes were complete, I resubmitted the blog to Hype Machine and was APPROVED! So now my blog is officially listed [...]

I know a few folks online who have their own music projects, and sometimes I like to help promote their music some. Kail is someone who I originally met through the online mc chris fan community. He currently has released two EPs and one full length album. This song, "I'm So Famous", is taken from his Kail and the Bearded Man: The Original Jams EP . All three of these albums can be download in their entirety on his Official Site . April 22nd will see the release of his [...]
On this day back in 1986, albums by The Beatles were made available for the first time on Russian shelves. In 2003, Paul McCartney performed the first rock concert in Red Square, Moscow. This is his performance of "Back in the USSR", originally from The Beatles ' White Album , from the show... Direct link to the video [...]

On his MySpace yesterday, mc chris officially released an image of what will become the cover artwork for his upcoming album, mc chris is dead ... The art was painted by artist David Mack . Over a year ago, on January 27 of 2007, The Crüxshadows along with supporting bands Ayria and Ego Likeness took the stage at the San Fransisco, CA club The DNA Lounge . One thing that is awesome about his particular venue is that they always broadcast their events via webcam to the internet, as well as a 128kbps mp3 stream of the live events. Not only did I catch the show live (which was LATE, especially since my time zone is four hours ahead of theirs) but I saved the audio and later [...]

Today is World Frog Day! Is there any frog more well known than Kermit of The Muppets ? I thought not! Dig'Em of Honey Smacks fame may think he's the top frog, but nope! There's also that frog in a blender from Joe Cartoon . Remember that? Those were the good old days of the internet. Oh, the Budweiser frogs were pretty novel for a while. I also remember being quite fond of Michigan J. Frog as a child, the lovable Warner Bros. character famous for his cartoon rendition of "Hello! Ma Baby". Nope. [...]

You know, sometimes I forget how much I love a certain band until I listen to them after a while. In this case, Depeche Mode . I haven't really listened to anything other than in the background while at work or something in a while. That is, until I just started playing their latest album, Playing the Angel . From the deafening opening of "A Pain That I'm Used To" all the way to the end, this is a great album. Pretty much the epitome of my favorite genre of music. Playing the Angel [...]

Damn. So the HorrorPops were in town last night. I thought it was tonight, and so I missed the show. I did the same thing with Les Claypool when he came through last time. I really need to pay more attention. Anyway, since I missed the show I've been listening to a lot of the HorrorPops discography. I was first introduced to the band by some late night "On Demand" searching on my television years ago, checking out music videos. I was intrigued by the band's video for "Miss Take" and later [...]
So I was watching The Colbert Report on Comedy Central last night. Something that I wasn't expecting to see was a musical number with Colbert's guest, John Legend . The duet performed "The Girl is Mine", originally recorded by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney on Jackson's legendary Thriller album. Legend took piano duties and sung Jackson's part of the song, while Colbert did a surprisingly good interpretation of McCartney's part. The segment was brought on earlier in the show when Legend and Colbert were arguing as to who loved [...]
