So my wife wrote a book. Since she's awesome and all you should check it out. She's even letting me give one of them away on here! Her name is Rebecca Carter , at least it has been since she married this joker. Her book is called Moonlit Daydreams . It's not music related exactly, but a collection of short horror stories touching on subjects such as vampires and zombie raptors. Yeah, raptors and zombies AT THE SAME TIME! [...]

Here is part four in my posting of The Beatles classic animated series, originally airing back in 1965. This time around I am featuring episodes twelve through fifteen. The videos are as originally uploaded on McCKLENN 's YouTube page. Each episode is split into two separate videos for time purposes. Every episode follows the same pattern: one cartoon based on a single track by The Beatles , two sing-a-long segments where you kids at home get to join in [...]

The internets have been abuzz lately over this new fan video for mc chris ' song " mc chris is dead". Ben Trandem is responsible for the mostly animated masterpiece. The song " mc chris is dead" is actually the title track from his 2008 album of the same name. One of my personal favorites. Check that video out below. In the mean time, mc chris ' latest album just saw release this 4/20. The culmination of the "part [...]

I happened upon this great video posted over on College Humor the other day. It is a parody of the song "Empire State Of Mind" that you've heard on the radio by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys with a heavy dose of Star Wars . Penned by Owen Parsons and Conor McKeon "Galactic Empire State Of Mind" tells the tale of a tormented Darth Vader with supporting vocals from Princess Leia. Throughout the video Leia actually plays a "nalargon" [...]

Here is another chunk of the episodes from The Beatles old cartoon series. This post, being part three in the series, features episodes eight through eleven. Each episode is listed in the order of its original apperance and has been uploaded by McCKLENN over on their YouTube page . Two videos comprise each episode, flowing from cartoon to two sing-a-long features and rounded out by another cartoon. Each toon being based upon a single [...]

I wanted to acknowledge all of those inconvenienced by the Icelandic volcano of Eyjafjallajökull's eruption in a post. Wherever you may be stranded across the globe (or not) hopefully you can get yourself a Land Shark Lager and enjoy this Jimmy Buffett song in your honor. Jimmy Buffett released this song, "Volcano", back in 1979. It has since grown into one of "The Big 83 songs that Buffett has played at nearly every show he has put on. For [...]

My attention was recently drawn to the four-piece based out of Samara, Russia known as Cheese People . Fronted by female vocalist Olya Chubarova the band produces a sound that could get away with the title disco punk. The band's debut album has been released in Russia and Japan already. The self-titled disc is a self produced, zero budget affair but manages to sound more groovy than a lot of mainstream records. Cheese People has already finished recording their second [...]

The Las Vegas based One Pin Short is seven members strong, led by a soulful 300 pound Hawaiian named Shawn Garnett. With sounds infused with reggae, punk, ska and alternative rock they caught my attention. They are currently riding their debut full length, a self titled disc. I had a chance to listen to the new disc and it really is worth checking out. Eleven tracks are included and there really aren't any bad ones! Give my pick from the bunch [...]

Here is part two in what looks to be an eleven part project. The Beatles old cartoon series first aired in 1965. Below are episodes four, five, six, and seven. Each episode is as uploaded on YouTube by McCKLENN , split into two different videos. The first half features an animated short based around a single The Beatles song followed by a sing-a-long segment. The second half is in reversed order, a sing-a-long rounded out by another animated [...]

I have recently gotten into watching the classic animated series featuring The Beatles that aired from 1965 to 1967. A bit before my time, I know, but thanks to the wonder of YouTube we can watch them anytime we want now. Since I've been so into the cartoon lately I figure why not embed them all on here? Thanks to McCKLENN who has a massive inventory of The Beatles videos uploaded on their YouTube [...]

Although they are currently residing in Berlin, the Paris based Shaka Ponk are finally getting the opportunity to release some of their music here in the States. To celebrate I have a free copy of their monumental Bad Porn Movie Trax CD and a band T-shirt to give away. They could be yours! Shaka Ponk 's sound is not an easy thing to place. The five band members known as Goz, Frah, Thias, CC, and Bobe-OD combine their [...]

The three piece based out of New York known as fun. recently came across my inbox. I think they have a pretty cool sound. With the combined powers of the talented multi-instrumentalists Nate Ruess, Jack Antonoff, and Andrew Dost fun . produces an upbeat groove with new sounds around every corner that is best described as... well... fun ! Check out this track from their latest opus Aim And Ignite after the break. It is called "At [...]

APRIL FOOLS, YOU FOOLS! But seriously, You Sound Like A Robot is not going offline after three years . At least I didn't Rick Roll you guys again. More interesting things were happening on another side of the internet yesterday at the website of mc chris . As with the songs " beetle " and "neville" of years past this April Fools Day saw the release of a new mc chris track. This song is appropriately titled "twin peaks" [...]

We have reached a new month in the history of You Sound Like A Robot and, unfortunately, it will be the final one. I have decided that while it is great to have the opportunity to hear so many new bands and share them with you all it is simply too much for me to handle. Also, times are tough all around and that domain name doesn't come cheap. I will continue to honor my contest so be sure to check that out, [...]

Hailing from humble Portland, OR the self-proclaimed "rock chick" Becca originally signed with Sony Music Japan in 2008. In the couple years since she has become relatively successful across the Pacific among the Japanese. She is now spreading her music to the states with her American debut release Alive!! . Now at the ripe old age of twenty the singer/songwriter produces her own music at a level of maturity, skill, and fun relatively unknown of from other musicians of her [...]

The English foursome of Stricken City have just come off the release of their limited album Songs About People I Know and are now promoting a new EP. The newest outing from the band is the four track EP for the song Animal Festival . The coolest part about it is that you can download the thing for free! Promoting their upcoming full length album the crew decided to offer up the new EP [...]

I think it is time for another seven songs that I have been digging lately. It has been about two months since our last seven songs post . List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions along with your 7 songs… [...]
Since their self-titled debut album was released back in 2001 I have been a big fan of the animated band known as Gorillaz . Throughout the years the stories of 2D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel have evolved and gone through some pretty elaborate ups and downs. The third studio album from Gorillaz was released just this week. Titled Plastic Beach the disc features a number of guest appearances from folks like Snoop Dog, Mos Def, and Bobby Womack. [...]

Today is March 11, also known as the much celebrated 311 Day. The band's discography has been on pretty heavy rotation for me throughout the day. It's too bad I can't be in Las Vegas where the real party is tonight. At about twenty years old 311 has been releasing music and touring for a while now. They have become quite the juggernaut. They have also earned a very extensive and devoted fanbase. They are currently celebrating the release of last [...]

The Morning Benders is an indie pop rock four piece based out of Berkley, California. Their second studio album release hits the shelves tomorrow and it's pretty worth checking out. Together Chris Chu, Jon Chu, Julian Harmon, and Tim Or form The Morning Benders . Their latest opus, Big Echo , features ten new tracks. Check out the first of the bunch titled "Excuses" after the break as well as a bunch of upcoming tour dates. If they are stopping [...]
