Hey, folks, today's show is an archived edition; it's the February 6 episode to be exact. Sorry - things are busy, but please don't fret because on tomorrow's show we'll have an in-studio session and interview with Salt Lake City's Band of Annuals . The A.W. Feldt interview shall be rescheduled (hopefully for Friday), but if you really need to hear him play live, he's opening for the Band of Annuals tomorrow night. Please refer to the post below for details. Check out these BOA tracks: Band of Annuals - The Ballad of Casey Jones [...]

If you're looking to kick off next week with a great time and good folks, check out this upcoming show. It'll be an all acoustic good time and it's being held this coming Sunday, March 9 at the old Powerhouse right here in Pocatello. The aptly named World History writes and sings songs about, well, world history. If you visit here with any regularity, you've most likely heard of Pocatello's own A. W. Feldt . He's been creating quite a fuss around here lately by playing a great number of shows. [...]
Born Ruffians Today is another very busy new release Tuesday; it's so busy, in fact, that we only get to sample a small portion of what's on our plate on today's show. We get to the highly anticipated Real Emotional Trash from Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks . Additionally, we hear a few cuts from the Toronto, Ontario trio Born Ruffians . Their debut full-length album, Red, Yellow, and Blue dropped today on Warp Records , and it's quite good. Some say they evoke the Pixies and [...]
Happy Monday, folks. Today's show is just a nice mix of tunes, mostly new, but some from last year, as well. We hear a new one from the Portland, Oregon trio Wanda, Nevada , a band that we've heard on the show a few times before. We also get to a new one from the Athens, Georgia group Elf Power , among other things. Join us tomorrow afternoon as we sample fresh tracks on another busy new release Tuesday. To stream the podcast, click on the link, and to download the podcast, right-click and "Save Target As." [...]

Firstly, there was no post yesterday because we played an archived edition of the show, and secondly, our interview with the Salt Lake City, Utah band The Future of the Ghost fell through as their show at the First National Bar this evening was cancelled. The group will kick off their tour tomorrow night in Missoula, Montana at The Redlight Room. We are saddened that the band won't be playing tonight; nonetheless, we look forward to them stopping by Pocatello in May. Onward we go...today's show is a mix of mostly new music with a couple of older [...]

Apples In Stereo In light of this being a really sluggish week for new releases, today's program is an assemblage of old and new music alike. We only hear one new song and a couple from the Apples In Stereo . Three of their records (Her Wallpaper Reverie, Fun Trick Noisemaker, and The Discovery of a World Inside the Moone)were re-issued yesterday on One Little Indian. The new track is from psychedelic indie popsters Sunny Day Sets Fire . One last thing for you all: tune in this coming Friday, February 29 to [...]
It's a pretty slow new release Tuesday; nonetheless, we have a handful of records to hear from today. If you tuned in last week, you may already be familiar with the Indianapolis, Indiana group Everthus the Deadbeats . The band's name is a sly reference to the Coen Brothers' The Big Lebowski . We hear from their debut full-length John Kill and the Microscopic Lullaby , which is out today. We also get to music from Detroit's Dirtbombs , in addition to new tracks from Goldfrapp and Beach House , among other things. [...]
Today's show is just an assemblage of mostly music that was released this year. There are a few older songs, however. Donald Barthelme Lucky you! You won't have to tune in to hear the live show for the next couple of days. We've got three shows' worth of posts on a single entry today. I'm extremely busy preparing for an upcoming performance piece at Portneuf Valley Brewing here in Pocatello. A group of fine folks and I are performing eight short stories by the post-modern fiction author Donald Barthelme as a fundraiser. Find out more HERE . Anyway...the next few shows feature music that was out this week in addition to a [...]
Sharin Foo & Sune Rose Wagner (Raveonettes) With the exception of last week, and maybe the former half of January, 2008 has been a great year for new releases. We've seen (among other things) excellent releases from Vampire Weekend, The Evangelicals, Thao With The Get Down Stay Down and The Magnetic Fields. That said, another new release day is upon us, and it's certainly not a disappointment. We hear cuts off of new albums out today by the Danish duo The Raveonettes , Flowers Forever (featuring Derek Presnall of Tilly and the Wall), The Mountain [...]

Welcome to the new week and a new episode of Beat City. If you haven't found out yet, today is President's Day, a holiday that (like many other national holidays) once had a meaning, but now is just an excuse for capitalists to host gigantic and grotesque sales. In light of that, we'll be spinning tracks that include anti-establishment, war, protest, social unrest and political themes. We'll hear a variety of genres and a mixture of old and new bands alike. Hopefully these cuts will get your gears grinding a bit. Enjoy the show and the rest of the day. [...]
On today's show we hear....an archived edition of Beat City. To be precise, it's the January 31st show. Sorry kiddies, but it's another busy Friday that should fuel the fruition of various projects that I am currently endeavored in. Don't be sad, though, because we'll return with a brand-spankin' new show on Monday. Until then, enjoy the bonus video. Vampire Weekend: A-Punk
Today's show is a Valentine's Day special of sorts. Whether you have a special someone or think that love is a load of shite, there should be something you'll enjoy on this playlist. Some of the tracks are cutesy, some are silly, others are revealing, and even a couple of pessimistic numbers are included. So grab your sweetie (or your bottle of liquor) and settle down for an hour of tunes chock full of tenderness, passion, lust, disgust, pain, and redemption. To stream the podcast click on the link, and to download the podcast, right-click and "Save Target As." [...]
Today's show is simply a great mix of tunes, old and new, that should get you bouncing around the room and singing along. The tracks are mostly rooted in the last two or three years, with a couple of new things (and one quite old) thrown in for good measure. Tune in tomorrow afternoon to hear an all love-song edition of Beat City in celebration of St. Valentine's Day. To stream the show click on the link, and to download the show right-click and "Save Target As." Beat [...]
'Tis another New Release Tuesday; however, there are not very many notable releases out today. Nonetheless, a live DVD from the spectacular Emily Haines -fronted Canadian synth-rock group METRIC is out today. It's titled "Live At Metroplis" and showcases a live performance from a Fall 2006 tour stop in Montreal. It also contains three music videos from their latest record. That, and the third release from the U.K. band British Sea Power entitled "Do You Like Rock Music?" are out today. The new BSP record was recorded in various [...]
