Rumour has it that the Thekla Club in Bristol will be sunk tonight! We have received this information from a reliable source, with reports stating that the movements of particular house heavy weight generals in the area are deemed to be suspicious. I am therefore warning the sea sworthy passengers of the Thekla, to expect a succession of torpedo attacks from the various leading honchos at the Made To Play high command. Label mates Jesse Rose, Riva Starr and Idiotproof will be laying all hands on decks by the waterfront tonight, where they'll be taking the passengers of the Thekla [...]

Jet Project - consisting of T-bone (Timmy Stewart) and Yankee Zulu (Johnny McIver) - will be gracing the decks this Saturday in Room 2 , hosted by us. Famous for their techy house productions, their surging, sub-aquatic bombs'll lay waste to any dancefloor. But they've also been consistently wowing critics: 2009 album Heads In The Clouds was hailed across the board; recent releases on Get Physical and Beef Records have been praised no end by DJ Mag, iDJ and Mixmag; and the Irish duo are known to always turn in the remix pick. [...]

These boys need little introduction to those who follow the movements in world house music. Much to our pleasure, our favourite disco zombies have taken the time out to teach us how to operate around house music in a safe and sensual manner, having kindly provided us with an all out exclusive mix for the Pelski blog. So be sure to check out their 'Safe Sex Mix' on the link, it's left both Pelski and I sexually frustrated and sickness in health, providing an ideal warm up boogie before you breach the gates of Counter Culture [...]

Ahead of his performance at Jackmode vs Pelski this weekend, Oliver $' s giving away his suitably bouncy re-edit of the Sacha Robotti & Hofhauser's tech-house smash. Mr Dollar chunks out the beats, taking us on an altogether bumpier ride, and fits it with a big, spluttering bassline: Sacha Robotti - Tingly Trumpets (Oliver $ Re-edit) Remember to grab your tickets here . And for those who're unsure about coming [...]

Leo Zero , never one to shy away from handing out hoards of goodies, a while back offered up 'This Is God' from his album 'Acid Life', a homage to all things acid house. Unsurprisingly this track features the acid staple: a squelching, squirming 303 line. This wriggles around uncontrollably amidst excitable 909 patterns and high-pitched squarks. Great fun. (I've converted this to mp3 but if you want the original wav file head to Leo Zero's Soundcloud ): Leo Zero - This Is God [...]

'Chicago' by jozif remains one of the most captivating tracks of the year. Instantly catchy, deep, nostalgic and yet utterly distinctive. Lucky for us then that this jozif chap is so keen on handing out freebies. And, in case you hadn't noticed, disco edits of pop songs seem to be all the rage right now. As such, jozif gives a light tweaking to Chromatics, Bat For Lashes and The Beatles (each of these edits appeared on jozif's recent acclaimed Resident Advisor mix): jozif takes the emotive opening strings of The Beatles' 'Eleanor Rigby' and [...]

We've a whole host of goodies here, mostly courtesy of our partners in crime Jackmode: I can't stop playing this lovely, deep remix of Angie Stone classic 'Wish I Didn't Know' by the Danish duo signed to What! What! Records. A flutter of tribal knocks and a reassuring bass drum underlay the familiar, soulful vocals. This freebie has kindly been thrown out to promote MS's latest EP ' Saturday Night Fish '. Monkey Safari - Stoned [pelski highly recommends] Speaking of [...]

Lone 's 'Re-Schooling' has already been lauded with much praise across the board, but just in case any of you missed this classic house inspired goodness, then here she goes again. Matt Cutler's floaty old skool hash backs come filtered through the lost highs of 90's, and must be a pleasant lullaby to the 'seen better days' pill head still lying in your local motorway lay-by. If you like this, be sure to check out 'Emerald Fantasy Tracks' at Boomkat . This one will sparkle nicely under the tree for you. Lone - Re-Schooling [...]

Phonica Records' recent birthday at Corsica Studios boasted an impressive lineup. But nestled modestly amongst those big and all-too-familiar names (deep house heavyweight Henrik Schwarz and all-time electronica-deity Four Tet), was John Talabot . And to my surprise he played one of the most captivating sets of the night, pushing a slow, insatiably groove that kept people wiggling all the way to the end of his set. The Barcelonian's productions are slinky, slo-mo disco numbers, effortless yet meticulous, and stand heads and shoulders above many of the current - for want [...]

Taking the remix duties to the all rude glitter frenzied r&b pop act Tayisha Busay is no easy feat, especially once you've checked their addled party popper antics here . Yet Misha Mross (M.A.G.E) spins the parental advisory vocals around a whirl of dexterous synth lines and thudding hip hop levels. Tayisha Busay - WTF You Doin In My Mouth (M.A.G.E. version) Opening with a murky crescendo of ghostly outdoor howls, we can almost follow the woodland trail back to M.A.G.E's childhood in Southern Vermont. This is quickly followed [...]

Back so soon you say? Our last conquest saw us load the cannon with some of the most down right rawkus talents around, with leading labels such as Made To Play, Jackmode, Dirtybird, Turbo & Deadfish providing the ammunition. Our much respected mercenaries, came saw and conquered from far and wide, hence we decided that for round 2 we should shimmy out a few more of their heavyweight counterparts to put another dent in the warehouse foundations. Brace yourself, reload and shoot again sir, this is what's in store for 18th December... Room 1: [...]

You may well have heard of Alec Troniq , coming on like some kind of progeny love-child of Trentemoller and Nathan Fake. He crafts electronic soundscapes out of a driving techno template, at once melodic, musical and deeply emotive. And he's releasing the whole album on Broque.de . The deep and progressive techno album has been applauded by everyone from Tim Green, Switch and Maetrik to Dubfire, Richie Hawtin and Laurent Garnier. That's praise indeed. My personal favourite from a superb album is 'doldrums': ticks, clicks and crackles build and build before [...]

The Good Natured's 'Be My Animal' release is a very catchy affair, cutting straight to the core of decent and rounded pop credentials, which is what we should really be backing on the likes of Radio 1, rather than the likes of Usher. If you listen to the lyrics within the chorus, they mark a throwback to neanderthal love relations, which is a rather refreshing stance. I expect some of us if we had the chance would no doubt hunt those we desired like an animal, however such antics are considered to be rather uncouth these days, and may result [...]

Scion A/V provide us with yet another blinding - and entirely free - release from none other than Azari & III: a duo who've set 2010 alight with a string of romantic odes to Chicago house ('Reckless With Your Love' and 'Hungry For Power'). The Toronto twosome serve up yet another uplifting, shimmering love song punctuated by 808 claps. The thing positively drips in delicious 80's sleaze: Azari & III - Into The Night Unsurprisingly Wolf + Lamb wunderkind, Mr Jaar, [...]

The Moscow Records boss kindly passed on this free bootleg (in case you missed the last one, featured on Darkly's recent mixtape, grab it here ). A lo-fi analog synth and the gentle pulse of a 303 line are both a welcome nod to the days of acid house; add some plucky guitar strings and gentle drum patterns and you've got a refreshingly off-kilter house take on the Candi Station cover: Florence & The Machine - You've Got The Love (Alexqbit Edit) [pelski highly recommends] [...]

Oh so mysterious this man might be, but be sure I've got one of his tricks to give away for free. I would like to paint you a backdrop with the usual be in the know info, but then I'd be telling you all the things I don't know. Those who do know may remember that simple yet beautiful Al Green remix he made last summer, check it here , it's soon to be all over your ears. So what's his whereabouts? Where for art his wanderings? And if you dial his number on a day to day to [...]

When a musician embarks on a 'remix', it often suggests a complete makeover of the original segment, generally with a distinguishably noticeable difference, such as a genre transformation or an alternative take. To draw a simple parallel, let us address our American counterparts for a second, where from over the pond they brought our TV sets 'Extreme Makeover UK'. The writer's behind this revolutionary programme genuinely believe it is a plausible concept to take a middle aged man from Wales, and remodel him as Peter Andre. I for one am slightly skeptical of such a challenge, but then again there [...]
