The last time I heard anything about Kelis , she was still bringing boys to the yard. She's had a baby boy since with rapper Nas, Knight, who 'Acapella' is written for. The track is produced by David Guetta and brings Kelis into a very different genre that works surprising well for her.
A pair of bright, sunshine laden hip hop tracks to match the weekend we've been having in Canada's capital. First comes via Bone Thugs n' Harmony . It's sort of shocking to realize that these dudes have been pumping out tracks since I was in, like, primary school. Second track from Philadelphia's Chiddy Bang rips apart MGMT's Kids , sculpting it into a stuttering instrumental backdrop for coming of age rhymes. Yeeowch. I just stumbled across a stack of remixes from E-Six , a Florida-based DJ/VJ/Producer. While I'm keeping a couple of them to myself for the time being, the ones on offer here are beat heavy slammers. Kenny Rogers gets his fat-ass slammed by a heavy breakbeat in We've Got Tonight , though it becomes totally epic when the beat drops out leaving only his crooning country voice atop a twinge of sub bass.
