A while back when I reviewed the Top Ten on elbo.ws I came across French Kicks with the song Abandon. It became one of those songs which I just couldn't get enough of and all the songs I could listen to by them were listened to. They were all decent too. It's been about a month since all the hype about them and they do now have an album out which was released on April 1st. I don't quite know who to compare them too. They have been around for absoloutely ages according to their discography [...]

I have been meaning to blog Emmy the Great for a while now, but it just kept slipping my mind. She provided the backing vocals on Lightspeed Champion's "...Lavender Bridge" and she makes songs which are either uplifting or really sad depending on what mood your in. I love it all. You all know this song. First Time i ever heard Leonard Cohen's Halleluja was during Shrek. I was young, Shrek and Fiona had fallen out and it was really very touching. Beautiful song I'v ever heard? When I first bought "Begin To Hope" by Regina Spektor it seemed that Samson was a serious contender for this title and I'm not going to lie, many times I can listen to that song and be somewhere else for 3 minutes as it really is something amazing. I don't think Mike Skinner would be the first person that would come to mind. And I know it's been out there for a while but forgive me that I didn't pick up the "40 Years of Radio One" CD. I only just heard the cover after seeing if there was anything new on Myspace. His voice isn't great. In fact it's terrible. But there is something about it that does genuinly work. I only got the urge to do a profile on him (Damian Harris) after seeing him on Soccer AM this morning becuase until then I had forgotton he was responsible for the tunnnnnne, that is Disco Sirens. It screams Justice. And thats understandable because he produced it. I think you will agree it is a dirrrrrrrrrrrty tune. His album is out in two weeks. However, I don't think we will be set up; becuase after now hearing three of the tracks of "The Age of the Understatement" I can safely say that the album is going to be "summat" (again terrible) brilliant.
