A gossip website is claiming to have more details about the Paris fight that effectively led to Oasis' split. As previously reported, the band failed to play the Paris Rock en Seine festival on August 28 after a fight between Noel and Liam Gallagher backstage, and now Holymoly.com is claiming to have an account from "a mole" who saw the dispute that triggered the split. "The papers quite rightly reported the fact that Noel stormed out from their gig in Paris a minute before they were due onstage because Liam smashed his guitar - but the [...]

Liam Gallagher has spoken again about Oasis splitting up, admitting he's "gutted" the band have come to an end. "It's only just been a month and I have to sit down and work it out because as far as I'm concerned my comments would be on my musical headstone. But I'm gutted. I love being in Oasis. When [...]

As you've probably heard by now, it's been a rough week for David Letterman. If the remedy for his personal and professional turmoil is a lick on the ear from the unhumanly long tongue of Gene Simmons, he was in luck yesterday. Kiss were the musical guest last night on the Late Show, transforming the Ed Sullivan Theatre into Madison Square Garden for five minutes with a performance of their Sonic Boom single "Modern Day Delilah." "Our next guests are here to blow the roof off the dump, ladies and gentlemen," Letterman told the Late Show audience while [...]

Let me introduce a brand new group to you. I was invited to the first ever showcast of a good mate's band last weekend, always a bit scepitcal about these stuff, but was positively surprised in the end. Kathy And The So Called Friends are a four-piece (at the moment), formed only a few months ago, playing a rousing mix of indie-rock being influenced by Oasis, Bloc Party and the Arctic Monkeys (they even played a really good cover of their 1st single). Their 60 minute set contained a few covers but mainly own stuff, which is yet to be [...]
Backstage, Paris, pre-Oasis gig, August 28, 2009. Noel and Liam, those Gallagher brothers, have yet another spectacular row. Noel reportedly smashes Liam's guitar (which had been given to him by his wife Nicole, née Appleton). The show is cancelled. This is drama, but surely not particularly out-of-the-ordinary drama — after all, the Gallagher brothers, defining members of the defining British band of the past 20 years, have been rowing since they were toddlers. Fraternal aggro is programmed into their DNA. It turns out, though, that this spat is, for Noel at [...]

Guns N' Roses are being sued for $1 million for copying songs which ended up on their last album 'Chinese Democracy'. Filing the lawsuit are British record label Independiente and the U.S. arm of Domino Records, who are seeking damages against the band and the album's producers. The songs in question - 'Wherever You Are' and 'A Strangely Isolated Place' by German electronic musician Ulrich Schnauss, were used on the Guns N' Roses track 'Riad N' the Bedouins', according to the lawsuit. 'Chinese Democracy' the band's first new album in 17 years was released in November 2008. [...]

Noel Gallagher hasn't been idle since walking out on Oasis in August. Noel will star together with Ian Brown in a new advert for Adidas and filmed their appearances in the new campaign at an industrial estate in East London last week.Legendary German footballer Franz Beckenbauer and model Agyness Deyn took part in the shoot too. Meanwhile Razorlight said they'd be interested in hearing a Noel solo album and want to recruite him as producer for the next album. Maybe we should get Noel to produce the new Razorlight album? We're looking for a producer. We need some [...]
Reverend And The Makers singer Jon McClure has rejoined the debate on illegal file-sharing, speaking out against the likes of Lily Allen and Take That. Saying that there are far more important issues going on in the world today, the singer weighed in on the high-profile musicians who have been commenting on the hot topic. It's complete and utter bullshit because I don't see how millionaire rock stars are in any position to be lecturing kids on stealing their music," he told the Press Association. I think downloading music is a fact of life, and I think the [...]

Bono and Co. performed to an television audience of millions as they served as the musical guest on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live . The band performed three songs, a rarity for the live comedy sketch show, plus a fourth track for the studio audience after the end credits rolled. The episode was also noteworthy for its host Megan Fox. Surprisingly, U2 navigated away from their hits and No Line singles for their performance. As they've done with the majority of shows on the U.S. leg of their 360° Tour, they opened up their [...]

The European Commission in Brussels has proposed new rules on volumes for MP3 players in a bid to prevent users suffering from hearing problems.Under the new proposals, the maximum setting for all MP3 players and mobile phones with music-playing capabilities should be 80db. Currently, the maximum volume setting on iPods can reach 130db. It's easy to push up the sound levels on your MP3 player to damagingly loud levels, especially on busy streets or public transport. And the evidence is that particularly young people - who are listening to music at high volumes sometimes for hours each week [...]
Over the past couple of weeks we've seen Kurt Cobain, Iggy Pop and Daft Punk rendered as video game sprites. And now it seems the world's biggest bands, or at least those managing their legacies, are tripping over each other to embrace the ultimate in shonky brand extensions: the stage musical. Green Day's 'American Idiot: The Musical' has opened at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre. By all accounts it's a blandly inoffensive affair. Then again, given the young target audience, it's probably just as well it doesn't feature any of those [...]
