It will have been five years in January since we stared this blog and sadly we finally feel it's run it's course. We're going to leave everything up for the next month and then delete the lot on 1st Jan so you've got some time to grab anything you missed. We've also uploaded some old mixes from our parties we thought you might like: Andy Blake at The Alibi , ZNTN vs Photonz at The Alibi and Nathan Wilkins at The Lock Tavern . We've really enjoyed running the blog and are [...]

Gwen Guthrie's original is fantastic but Levan really take is to another level with this dub-disco classic. Gwen Guthrie - Peanut Butter (Larry Levan Mix)

Daniel Avery is going from strength-to-strength. Having already release one of this year's finest records with Phantasy sound's Water Jump and delivered the best Fabric mix we've heard in ages , he's now teamed up with the legendary Justin Robertson (in Deadstock 33s guise) to put out an EP for Optimo Music . It's brilliant. The instrumentation possibly sounds more 'live' than you'd expect with guitar, drums and bass driving the track over an electronic backing rolling on a teutonic rhythm. With three more tracks promised, including a remix by fast-rising [...]

London artist and founder of the now defunct Vessel Music Kit Grill has recently streamed a load of new music through his Soundcloud page . Refreshingly for electronic music it had a warm, human feel that's missing in a lot of contemporary electronic music. As the tracks twist, turn and meander about the music recalls the experimental attitudes of New York's 'no wave' movement or the UK post-punk scene.

Simply mind-blowing. Sounding not-unlike Liaisons Dangereuses doing boogie, Daniel Maloso delivers this pumping slice of machine-funk for Cómeme . Hat-tip to Nathan Gregory Wilkins for the tip.

Just in time for All Hallow's Eve, here is a suitably atmospheric roller disco classic from Danish harmonica legend Lee Oskar - "Haunted House". Lee is better known for his soulful playing with War on tunes like "Baby Brother" and "Low Rider" but here he trades strutting for suggestiveness and the results are all the more euphoric for it. Built around a shimmering Fender Rhodes, a whispery guitar arpeggio and an insistent slo-mo disco beat, less is definitely more. It's all so lush and effortless that 7 minutes scarcely feels like long enough to appreciate it and the slightly [...]

For those of you that don't know about Psychemagik - SHAME ON YOU!!! They've been rocking dancefloors in London for what seems like an age and have released a string of edits and remixes almost all of which have been jaw-droppingly good. So clued up on their crate digging are they that apparently they operate a nice sideline in helping to furnish everyone from Soulwax to Love Fingers via Q-Tip with some highly sought after vinyl additions. So it comes as no surprise that they're now issuing 'Magik Cyrkles' - a compilation of some of the rarities and [...]

Coming soon on Optimo Music is this absolute BEAST! A collaboration between Glasgow's noise punk trio, Ultimate Thrush and Glasgow's all analogue house duo, Silk Cut it sounds like Noise-Punk-Analogue-House - apparently they call it 'hypno-psych voodoo groove'. The sheer energy in this recording is stunning probably due to it being recorded live in Glasgow's legendary Green Door Studios. If you like your music slick and smooth then this probably isn't for you!

Ok, before I start writing this, please empty your mind of Jethro Tull. Now, DJ Mystic Rock has pulled together this mix to celebrate the sound of the flute. I'll let him explain... I used to think that flutes in pop music started and ended with Kraftwerk until I kicked someone off of my facebook page for posting "a nice bit of mellow flutey jazz fusion". Since then I been noticing the bloody things all over the place. So here's a mix of some of them, starting and ending with Kraftwerk. [...]

This prime slab of funk-boogie was released in 1982 on Italian label X-Energy Records . Interestingly, it was always filed under italo - as that was the label's primary output - but it's slick bass synth slaps it firmly into our funk section. Advance - Take Me To The Top (12" Version)

The ever-reliable Discodrone, AKA Paris resident Thomas Di Matteo, drops this leftfield edit of Serge Gainsbourg allowing us just the opportunity we needed to get a photo of Jane Birkin on our site! For those of you unfamiliar with Discodrone we suggest you check out this exclusive mix from last year or keep an eye on the Paris listings for their parties. More sounds here .

A typically odd way to break the silence. Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter pull together this 15-minute looped mix of tracks by late blues artist Junior Kimbrough to accompany Hedi Slimane’s YSL debut.

A straight-up club noir classic. 'It's You' is sublime dancefloor delight with it's sleazy, spoken word narrative ghosting over pared back strings and 808 rhythms. Mr. & Mrs. Dale - It's You (Free House Mix)

MCDE doing great things for house music at Tripstream in Rotterdam. Motor City Drum Ensemble - Live at Tripstream 05.10.12

Released in 1983, All Over My Face was one of the last singles to be released by soul singer Ronnie Dyson before his death in 1990. Despite not troubling the charts - the track, mixed and edited by then little known duo M&M (John Morales and Sergio Munzibai), became an underground smash and a huge Paradise Garage track courtesy of resident DJ Larry Levan. Ronnie Dyson - All Over Your Face

A great post-punk mix courtesy of London's Wrongtom . Follow his Cloudcasts for more Downtown 81 -esque post-punk meets dub meets dancehall meets Def jam era blasters. Dumb Down The Disco by Wrongtom on Mixcloud

My life of crime! This was originally released on the b-side to 1984 single, Heaven. Not sure who did the remix (help in the comments please) but it's strung out to 8 minutes long, with all kinds of padded synth drums on it that frame the track beautifully. Sounds a bit like Rockit at the beginning but, hey, it was the 80s! The Psychedelic Furs - Heartbeat (New York Remix)

Hounds Of Hate are one of those lost gems that really promised so much. Active between 2009 and 2011, the band were led by Stan Iordanov and performed live electronic music without any sort of backing track. "Purple Stuff" originally featured as a B Side on the band''s second and final release Head Anthem and caught the celebrated ears of Four Tet and Caribou amongst others. How The Other Half Lives label boss ZNTN also saw something in the track, electing to give "Purple Stuff" the dust down and remaster treatment and release the jagged, [...]

Some 90s house flavour via Classic Records from the confusingly named Rednail Kidz + 1 , that's Rednail Kidz (aka Derrick Carter & Chris Nazuka) and Anthony Pearson for those that care. So press play for 8 minutes of deep drums and a vocal that sounds more vintage than Cheddar. Rednail Kidz + 1 - I Think Of You (Pocket Symphony)

With support from Carl Craig and Anthony Shakir, Sherard Ingram (aka Urban Tribe) released the often overlooked 1998 LP 'The Collapse Of Modern Culture' on Mo'Wax. Full of worthy Detroit electronic cuts, there's even guest production from a certain Mr.Kenny Dixon Jr on ' D-2000 '. Urban Tribe - Transaction
