Boerd is the alias of swedish producer Bård Ericson, he's also part of Swedish production trio Stay Ali. About four months ago he told us he had made a new EP, it sometimes takes us a while to catch up on things =/ ( ooops ). It's a very playful-electronic release, not a million miles away from the sounds of Slagsmålsklubben ( also from Sweden ) with the sense of style Siriusmo might show on a track like ' Ideologie '. Have a listen, it should catch you by surprise. You [...]

The very talented Keenhouse is preparing the release of his second album, " Four Dreams ". The first taster is " Where I Belong " which is also a free download. It's a bit more reminscent of the Keenhouse of his first album, " Civic Transit ". However, the maturity of the sound heard in his " Better Days " EP is also there. So it's like a nice compromise between both of those worlds. It's also 8 minutes long and quite lovely. The 'ba-ba-baa-baa's' are my favourite bit. I bet the album is [...]
So, the Olympics opening ceromony was on yesterday and like a good little Londoner I watched it. It started off quite dodgy and then got better towards the end. The music of Underworld featured quite heavily throughout the proceedings, with the track ' Caliban's Dream ' being a slightly guilty-pleasure cheese highlight ( I do mean that in a positive way ). It features ( amongst others ) Alex Trimble of Two Door Cinema Club on vocals, which provided a, ' wtf, did I just see tdcc on the Olympics? [...]

Tokyo synth-pop act Crystal have remixed Sébastien Tellier's " Cochon Ville " for the Japanese release of his album . It's a bit different from what I expected from them, it's quite 'cute' and 'bouncy' sounding 902s piano-house. It's also a free download, but their soundcloud has a limit. You'll need to be quick. Kreap 's remix of N.A.S.A's " Samba Soul " is a bit different from the Todd Edwards-ish material of his we've been posting recently, on this he showcases another side of his work, a funkier side. Think along the lines of Shazam's take on disco. Pool Party, not Poolside. Tweet This Post

Vitalic returns with " No More Sleep " a track from his forthcoming album, " Rave Age " which is due for release October 22nd. The track is very much like his earlier work, it's relentless electro and yes, it's a bit of banger. Quite cool it's been made a free download too. Tweet This Post

2Boy is Taichiro Tsubo, a DJ and Graphic Designer based in Tokyo, Japan. We previously featured one of his mixtapes last year , since then he's been making his own original productions. His latest, Angelo treads between the worlds of 'Nu-Disco' and that 902s revival thing currently going on. It makes for quite a fun listen. The download limit has already expired on his soundcloud , grab it here . Tweet This Post

" What You Want " is the first track to be unveiled from the forthcoming Boys Noize album, " Out Of The Black ". Lots of people are just copy/pasting what Rolling Stone wrote and saying it sounds like Kraftwerk, uh... it doesn't. Basically, it sounds like ' Oi Oi Oi era ' Boys Noize with that Kid Alex ghostbusters sound thrown in. Which means it's very good and I'm now far too excited for an album that isn't released till October 2nd. [...]

Mighty Mouse has remixed the new single from Hervé , " How Can I Live Without You (Make It Right) " which features Ronika on vocals. Things which are of note in this remix - 1) It has disco-pew sounds, this is good. 2) It has synth wig-out bit, this is also good. 3) It's disco music which is a bit mad and this means it's not boring, this is a very good thing indeed. Becoming increasingly rare though [...]

The Hair Kid exercises his right to French-Touch and fear not, his new track " Spring Fling " isn't some sort of murdering of a track from your nostalgia, it's an original that is a homage to it. Fans of Keenhouse and Rhythm Droid will no doubt appreciate this too. It's worth mentioning that he doesn't rap on this track, if you are in need of a Hair Kid rap fix, clickety-click. You do a post about how 'bangers' aren't as good as they used to be , you fail to mention Jacques Lu Cont in the list of people still making good ones and then he goes and gives away a track like " Underground " which seriously makes all those artists with metallic logos look quite... not very good in comparison. For some reason it also reminds me a bit of Thomas Bang alt er's " Turbo "*... but way more pissed off with everything and everyone... I mad hate tubes [...]

Cassette Club finally have a new single on it's way, it's called " Flash " and it's released in August. Ben Macklin of Cassette Club is giving away a remix he did of the track. It's VERY 80s. Like Donnie Darko soundtrack ( the original, not the directors cut one ) 802s or GTA: Vice City 802s. Maybe even that movie with Ryan Gosling 802s. Was that movie even set in the 802s? Hmmm. It sounds much better downloaded than it does in the soundcloud player [...]

Music blogs posting content quickly is no new thing, especially in the area of music that this blog has chosen to follow. However, in the last 6 months or so there has been a rise in the amount of blogs that choose to post music quickly and the speed of things being posted has increased so much that posts of certain tracks can be up on some blogs in a quicker amount of time than it actually takes to listen to them. We'd be the first to admit that sometimes you can get very excited about something and [...]

Samuel B sent us email, he writes: What happened to this site man? You guys used to post banger after banger, both melodic and harmonic and I could consistently rely on your page for some amazing, breathtaking, innovative tracks. Remember the days when you posted Croquemonsieur and his jams Tiger and Wild Cat? Those were the days, now it seems like you guys are trapped in a crappy disco club from the 702s or something. I hope the old too many sebastians comes back, best of luck guys. Well Samuel, [...]

Super Discount 2 was the follow-up ( shockingly ) to Super Discount. A kind of project by Etienne De Crecy to get all the best French dance producers ( Guetta was busy tho ) all in one place. The first cd had tracks named after supermarket sales slogans, the second was named after file-sharing programs. A maybe slightly naive nod to the internet increasing the amount of people listening to dance music at the time. Both compilations can be picked up quite cheaply on cd ( little more expensive on vinyl ) and " Poisoned " [...]

Todd Edwards has produced some very fine remixes in his quite legendary career and this one of Wild Child's " Jump To My Beat " has to be up there with his finest work. If you weren't aware, Todd has been giving away quite a few of his early remixes ( some unreleased! ) via his soundcloud . Wild Child - Jump To My Beat (Todd Edwards Remix) ✰ Bonus ✰ Phoenix [...]

" Nazi Surfers Must Die " ( or, War Is Trendy ) is the b-side on the single release of Cosmo Vitelli 's " Icons " ( which featured Benjamin Diamond on vocals ) and it was released in 2003. It's quite a hard track to describe, it has this weird little funky electro groove and then when you think it's going in a certain direction... it doesn't go in that direction. Just have a listen... Cosmo Vitelli - Nazi Surfers Must Die [...]

SHD 3000 is/was an alias of Shinichi Osawa. The track " Discotique Murphy's Theme " appears on the Sakura Hills Disco 3000 compilation , it is quite a hard compilation to find outside of Japan ( or in a digital quality that is any good ). The track is a good example of what to expect from the compilation though, it's very fun and unpretentious dance music which mixes pop, garage and disco together in a very nice way. The little piano bit towards the end of " Discotique Murphy's Theme " is something the current 'Nu-Disco' producers should take note [...]

Joe Claussell 's 'Classic Remix' of Ashford & Simpson 's "Bourgié Bourgié" is 11 minutes of disco string heaven. Fans of the tangoterje edits will no doubt appreciate this one a whole bunch. Ashford & Simpson - Bourgie Bourgie (Joe Claussell's Classic Remix) Tweet This Post
