I've been all over The Cool Kids since I first heard "I'm Mikey, uh uh, I rock." The production was so tight and the thick dirty bass lines rolled behind incredibly fluid ryhmes from Antoine "Mikey Rocks" Reeds. Old-school hip hop influences clearly come through in their tracks, juiced up with some electro synths in all the right places (check 2 mins and 13 seconds into the track "I Rock" for a taste. mp3 below). Hot Chip @ The Mayan (LA) I paid more than double face value for tickets to see Hot Chip play one of their few U.S. tour dates at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. But illness got the best of a few band members following their New York show and they postponed the LA gig at the last minute.
