In light of releasing their US debut single and to celebrate their upcoming tour with La Roux , the Boston foursome Yes Giantess are handing out the A-side to that very single. Produced by Starsmith , 'The Ruins' sounds like a wizard playing a Nintendo before dancing around the room in triumph at finishing level 26. The 7" is backed by B-side “Call My Name,” a light R&B jam to a forlorn lady. [...]

4DISCO Records recently released Volume One of their new Filter Heaven EP. Bringing back disco house, each with one funky track of their own on the EP, are DJ EQ , SKingz , Agent Stereo and my personal favourite Joey Chicago . Sounds a bit like Viv's and my hero Louis La Roche . Right on. Breakbot 's first single has finally arrived via Ed Banger and after about 10 minutes on repeat I'm come to the conclusion that I've found my new love. The funkfest features some very smooth vocals from Irfane (from French band Outlines) and is incrediably addictive. It basically makes you wanna fly away to the South of France and drink wine on the beach in Saint-Raphaël from the early afternoon and into the sunset. 'Baby I'm Yours' [...]

Crookers upcoming debut album 'Ton Of Friends', is a massive collaboration effort (obviously why the album is called what it is), and at the moment the album getting loads of blogosphere attention due to the fact that Crookers with friends sounds a lot better than just Crookers. Slowly, songs 'leaked' or not, are popping up all over the net, first with their release 'Put Your Hands On Me', featuring Kardinal Offishall and Carla-Marie , followed by 'We Love Animals' with Soulwax and Mixhell , then came 'No [...]

United Kingdom Electronic / Dream Pop / Soft Rock I always thought that Hot Chip were, well, a bit shit. I don't know what they're about, or what their message is, or really where any of their inspiration or soul comes from. One Life Stand is just a nother addition to their dull discography, and I can't see it doing them or anyone any favours this year or in the future. Their musical ideas [...]

United Kingdom Alternative / Electronic / Indie It's quite rare in the "hype machine" era of today for a band to actually put their music where the hype is, but Delphic have succeeded in abusing the short window of time given to most hype bands to deliver, and well. Acolyte is probably one of the best produced and executed debuts of the last 5 years. It's message is clear, consistent, and completely black and white; there are [...]

UK duo, Dolby Anol have yet again produced another amazing song that has left me clicking the ol' 'repeat' button on my iPod. The track, titled 'Cameroon', starts off with an old school funky disco vibe, the track then transforms about 2 minutes in into a buzzing, screeching, warped banger montana. Hit the town. Download: Cameroon (Original Mix) - Dolby Anol (Right Click, Open in new window) (Alt Link) Bonus: [...]

I always get excited when a Buffetlibre remix lands in the inbox, and for good reason - Their sparkly positive remixes are really easy on the ears and always make me smile. This rule is no exception this time with their remix of The Antlers' 'Two'. They have replaced the acoustic guitar with uplifting synths, piano and chimes and the result is wonderful. The Antlers turned synth-pop? Yes please. Download: Two (Buffetlibre Remix) - [...]

"The January Mix is fllled with exclusive goodies that you can't find anywhere else. What about our new remix of Dan Black's smashing tune Symphonies - featuring Kid Cudi? (We finished it yesterday, and were so excited that we had to include it immediately!) Or a fresh Guerilla Fart of the techno classic Percolator by Cajmere? Or a D.I.M.-remix (Boys Noize Records) of our upcoming single Love Vibrations?!! Add the hottest tracks from Laidback Luke, Crookers, The Subs and other nice people and...phew." - Dada Life Download: Dada Life January Mix - Dada [...]

March 2nd. Keep that date in your diary. It's the date when Groove Armada 's next album 'Black Light' drops and I go to the record store. We've been giving a few teasing hits of what the album will sound like and it seems to be going in a very different direction from their 'I See You Baby' days. The latest teaser is a down tempo collaboration with Bryan Ferry that, when I heard it, made me stop what I was doing, grab a cigarette and stare out into the cloudy [...]

Danger 's music take one through a Journey, he has taken us through the Pyramids, then onto Jungles and now, with his 3rd EP, 09/17 2007', he has set his sites to a more urban setting. The EP is in a way, a level up, just like in a video game and will transport one into a new setting, using atmospheric synths and sound effects, extended introductions and everything else that makes Danger so interesting. Out on Vinyl on the 25th of January and Digitally on the 1st of February, the EP is definitely [...]
Sorry, we've been a bit slack on the postage this week, just been extremely busy, but I'm happy to say, Sex 4 Ears is back with a vengeance. ENJOY!!!

I totally missed Phonat 's self titled debut album release a couple of months back, only got a chance to listen to it the other day and it was a completely different to what I expected. After hearing 'Learn To Recycle' about a year ago, I kept a keen eye out for anything Phonat. Then, earlier this year 'Set Me Free' dropped and damn, it was on like Donkey Kong. So back to his album. It's a decent first effort and in good ol' Phonat style is chock full of samples and spliced beats with [...]

U.S.A Indie / Afro-Beat / Classical 'Contra' is the follow to Vampire Weekend 's quirky 2008 debut, and it's still quite quirky indeed. The band have definitely progressed musically, and hand over production dutied to keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij (who is also a member of experimental electronic duo Discovery ). Hence, the album has a slightly more electronic feel than their debut. Individually, each member explores a much wider [...]

U.S.A. Electronic / Experimental /Psychedelic Pop I must admit, I had never actually listened to Yeasayer beofre I recieved this album to review. Now, I wish I had, and then perhaps I would have had more to write about their second album 'Odd Blood'. It's definitely experimental, it's definitely amazing, and it's definitely poppy, but there is something about the nature of their song writing that makes you feel a little alienated and uneasy. Perhaps its the strange sounds they [...]

They have been described as our generation's Prodigy , and as they continue to push boundaries in electronic music that description is becoming ever truer. I've seen them twice, once in Australia and once again here in London and both times, the young British band have successfully delivered a dangerously fierce set, that incorporates both the wide eyed intensity that comes from the frantic & frenzied club beats as well as the maniacal energy that comes from ever good rock show's teeth grinding mosh pits . I had a listen to [...]
