EMI Music Publishing has the largest share of the 100 most popular U.S. radio airplay songs in the third quarter, "outplaying" the competition for the third time in a row with a share of 19.5%. Sony/ATV comes in second with 17.1%, Universal Music Publishing Group is third with 12.5%, and Warner Chappell fourth with 11.9%. Responsible for EMI's big share are songs like "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas, and "Best I Ever Had" by Drake.
Adelitas Way, who we first featured in May 2008 , prior to becoming Rob Stevenson's first signing at Virgin Records, continue to develop a story at Active Rock. The band's first single, "Invincible," is currently the 7th most played active rock song in the United States. The group has some great Top40 material on their self-titled album, look for them to cross over with tracks like "Last Stand" ( listen here ) and "Closer To You" ( listen here) . Owl City, who we first featured in September 2008 while still unsigned, jumps back into the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts with "Fireflies." The song spends it's second week on top of the charts, outselling artists such as Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Britney Spears. Congrats to Adam Young and the Universal Republic team!
Adam Young of Owl City has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. The agreement encompasses the entire Owl City catalogue, including "Fireflies," the platinum-selling #1 hit. Owl City was first featured on Crazed Hits in 2008 , prior to signing a record deal with Universal Republic.
