Word on the street is that David Foster's contract at Warner is about to expire. Foster has been affiliated with the company since 1995 when he launched his own record label, 143 Records, in a joint venture with WMG, which has produced a variety of hits with artists such as Michael Bublé, Josh Groban and The Corrs. With Foster's WMG deal about to expire, it looks like Lucian Grainge is trying to bring the multi-platinum producer, songwriter and A&R to Universal. According to the NY Times , Warner Music Group "has hired the investment bank Goldman Sachs to seek out potential buyers for the company, a process that will play out while Warner continues to explore buying the beleaguered British music giant EMI. The decision to hire Goldman Sachs came after several suitors, including the buyout firm KKR, approached Warner's management in recent months about buying the company, according to an executive briefed on the matter who spoke only anonymously."
