*Need To Know – Lightyear “All Of The Miles”

You might know her from previous releases as Lauren Zettler but boy has there been a revamp and we're loving it. Her new project, Lightyear , is about to release their first EP in September/October titled " All Of The Miles " . Recorded in Nashville in January of this year there is nothing country about this EP. Taking her music into a much more confident sounding direction with lusher instrumentation and layered vocals, we're incredibly excited to see where this project takes her. Lightyear::All Of [...]

Laura Marling - A Creature I Don't Know

*Foster The People “Torches” – Album Of The Summer

Foster The People - "Pumped Up Kicks"
While Adele's album was recent (and wonderful), it's also mostly an intense album about breakups and relationships which doesn't necessarily spell out S-U-M-M-E-R-F-U-N. So I was delighted to get my hands on Foster The People's "Torches". I haven't been able to listen to an album all the way through without skipping any tracks in quite a while, it manages to be incredibly fun music without losing any integrity. It takes a whole different kind of genius to write well crafted pop songs and this album is a 100% indie pop gem. Blast it at high volume for the next three [...]

*The Boxer Rebellion – “Need To Know” Video Session Vol. 3

*The Boxer Rebellion – “Need To Know” Video Session Vol. 3 They are one of my favorite new bands and while they're on their second album so they're not technically "new", Boxer Rebellion are just starting to pick up speed thanks to a beautiful, anthemic album and a solid spot as the band in the movie "Going The Distance" with Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. We got a little time with them before their headlining show at Music Hall of Williamsburg and shot this quick video with Nathan their lead singer. Get Glucky Blog - The Boxer Rebellion "Organ Song" from [...]

*KT Tunstall – New “The Scarlet Tulip EP” & Exclusive Photos

*KT Tunstall – New “The Scarlet Tulip EP” & Exclusive Photos Monday night was great. I watched my dear friend dominate the stage solo, backed with no band but with a fantastic array of looping pedals and guitars. I haven't seen KT play solo in at least a few years, it definitely took me for a ride on the nostalgia train. Just before she went on stage, Shervin Lainez snapped some shots of KT for Get Glucky so we're excited to show them off to you below. KT also released a brand new EP which was recorded live at her home (solar-powered!) studio in a matter of [...]

*Matthew Perryman Jones – “Need To Know” Video Session Vol. 2

Get Glucky Blog - Matthew Perryman Jones "Rain or Shine"
Back in January we traveled to Nashville to film some recordings and although it was not planned, managed to squeeze in some video time with the wonderful Matthew Perryman Jones. Check him out below performing his song, "Rain or Shine" and my favorite cover that he does, Patty Griffin's "Top Of The World". . .

*Katie Costello – “Need To Know” Video Session Vol. 1 A few weeks ago we went over to Katie Costello's apartment and apart from laughing at each other's jokes we also made this video for your viewing pleasure. *SXSW Discoveries Part I (of III): Phantogram, Twin Shadow, Machine Gun Kelly

Twin Shadow - Castles In The Snow
I saw a lot of great shows at SXSW; Ellie Goulding, Matthew & The Atlas, Dry The River, Jamie Woon, Penguin Prison and more. Some of my favorite discoveries were bands I didn't even get to see but heard some other way. First of those is Phantogram , a duo from upstate NY, I fell in love with them instantly thanks to their song "When I'm Small". I will not be surprised if this song is sound-tracking a major advert in about 5 minutes. When I'm Small [...]

*Ellie Goulding @ Webster Hall 03/24

If you haven't heard of the British chart-topping Ellie Goulding yet then after her sold out show at Webster Hall last night, hopefully you have. It's not uncommon for female artists who have experienced a large amount of success in the UK to come over to New York and play big shows but this one felt different. The Knocks warmed up the crowd the perfect amount and left them ready for Goulding to take on. Opening with her second single "Under The Sheets" her beautifully distinct and powerful voice filled the room, along with 1500 fans singing her lyrics back [...]

*New Ingrid Michaelson video for “Parachute”

Ingrid Michaelson - Parachute (new video)
A lady very close to my Glucky heart has a new video out and it was directed by my roommate Shervin Lainez (and edited by Dylan Steinberg ). I have toured with Ingrid for the last few years and it's been amazing. This song was a song she originally wrote for Cheryl Cole in the UK and then also decided to release a version of it herself. She's in the studio recording a new record right now and I can't wait to hear what's next for her.

*Need To Know – Matthew & The Atlas

*Need To Know – Matthew & The Atlas For fans of Mumford & Songs, Johnny Flynn (they opened for the two bands on a tour last year), Fleet Foxes or general beautiful folky sounds. No American dates yet but should you be reading this in London, they have an EP release show at The Lexington on April 14th. You can buy tickets HERE. A perfect soundtrack to winter, staying in doors, turning it up and hiding from the rest of the world. Wouldn't hurt if you had a burning [...]

*Adele – Upcoming release “21″ and stunning first single

ADELE 'Rolling In The Deep' (Studio Footage)
We've been a fan of Adele's from the beginning and I still remember meeting her for the first time in a small Soho bar in London after we'd corresponded on Myspace. Remember Myspace? Anyway, she has been a fully fledged star with a voice to match for the last couple years. I loved her first record and am so excited for the upcoming release. There is now an official video for it but the video footage that was released for the song "Rolling In The Deep" made me fall in love with the song instantly. See both videos [...]

*Need To Know – Jessie J

Who You Are (Trailer)
Oh man! I'm so happy to be writing the first post of the new year and the first post on this blog with a total redesign on Jessie J. Some of you might already be like "Yawn, we knew about her months ago" and some of you might have no idea who i'm talking about. She is 22 and has already written for Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera. Oh and she also wrote that little known song "Party In The USA" for Miley Cyrus. She's releasing her own material now and as [...]

*Robyn to play Radio City Music Hall Feb 2011

*Robyn to play Radio City Music Hall Feb 2011 Robyn is going from strength to strength these days after playing a sold out show at Terminal 5 in New York she is lined up to headline Radio City Music Hall on February 5th. Tickets are on sale now. I've wanted to see her play for some time, she's a truly special talent. Also she makes me feel all 90s inside when I remember her beginnings. "Swedish pop princess Robyn returned to New York City and took the town by storm," said The Huffington Post in a review of last [...]

*Summer shows - Lady Lamb The Beekeeper, Holly Miranda, Metric, Tegan and Sara, Paramore

*Summer shows - Lady Lamb The Beekeeper, Holly Miranda, Metric, Tegan and Sara, Paramore Summer in New York means there is more live music than ever to choose from and a ton of different locations in which you could choose to sweat yourself silly. In my opinion, the next couple of weeks holds some of the best shows this summer. One of them is even free. So, if you live in NY or nearby you should seriously consider making the journey to one or all of these shows. Holly Miranda for Dummy Magazine Sunday 08/01 St [...]
