A few nights ago I helped DJ a dance party and I really wish I had already heard this song. Loving everything that CHVRCHES is putting out so far. Enjoy.

Irish singer-songwriter, Foy Vance, has recently signed with Glassnote Records and has a new album title Joy of Nothing coming out later this summer. We have the title track for your streaming pleasure today. I first discovered Vance back in my college days when I stumbled upon Live Sessions and Birth of the Toilet Bowl EP and then haven't really heard much that I cared for since. If this first single is any indicator, I think a lot more people will be paying attention to Vance in 2013.

Pickwick 's killer cover of Richard Swift's "Lady Luck" is the cover song of the week. Swift released several solo records throughout the 20002s, including 20082s Ground Trouble Jaw EP , where "Lady Luck" was first featured. Swift is currently a member of indie-rock band The Shins .

Sean Tillman is a bizarre little man. He's a singer-songwriter who performs under the names Sean Na Na and Har Mar Superstar, and is often nearly nude during his performances. He just released his 5th studio album, Bye Bye 17 on Cult Records . Despite his bizarre antics, I love the first single off the album, "Lady, You Shot Me." He seems to be channeling James Brown on this new song. It's one of the best soul songs I've heard in quite some time.

Bad Bad Hats is a new indie-pop band from Minneapolis who released their debut album, It Hurts (free download) , on Afternoon Records earlier this year. The lead single, "Super America", is a really catchy and clever song that we have been really enjoying along with this gorgeous summer weather that is finally arriving.

Eliza and the Bear is an folk-pop quintet from London that will resonate with fans of The Head and the Heart or Freelance Whales or Of Monsters and Men. They only have an A/B single out, and no word as of yet about a full-length debut coming this year. But this first single is good enough to garner some attention and get them on the UK festival circuit. Hope to hear more from them soon, until then take a listen to this gorgeous soaring gem of a pop song.

Typhoon is set to release their third full-length album, White Lighter, on August 2oth via Roll Call Records . The first single from the record has been released and is available as a free download. Dreams Of Cannibalism fits right in with the rest of their catalog and has me real excited to hear a new album from one of our current favorite artists.

We're now less than a week away from being able to marathon watch the 4th season of Arrested Development, and like the rest of you, we can hardly contain ourselves. The wife and I have been watching through the first 3 seasons for the upteempth time in preparation for AD's glorious return. So if you're like me and have Arrested Development on the brain and can't seem to get it out, here are a couple great web-sites to help fill the time and enhance your watching experience as you have the original seasons on repeat for the rest of the [...]

Foxygen is the LA-based duo of Sam France and Jonathan Rado. A lot of bands lately have been putting out records that sound as if they're straight out of the 602s, and Foxygen's latest release, We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors Of Peace & Magic definitely fits that bill. You can't help but think of the Rolling Stones or Velvet Underground when you hear today's song, "No Destruction."

Our song of the day is from the 2013 album, In Guards We Trust . Guards frontman Richie Follin is the brother of Cults' Madeline, and you definitely hear the similarities in their hook-laden musical styling. If you were a fan of the Cults album, this album is a must listen.

Earlier this year, we featured Fort Frances ' "City By the Sea" in our Song of the Day series. Today we'd like to share their gorgeous cover of "New York, New York" off of Ryan Adams' 2001 album, Gold .

Lighthouse and the Whaler is a Cleveland, OH based band named after a theme from Moby Dick. Their song, Venice, from their 2012 album, This Is an Adventure , is our song of the day.
Accompanied only by a pianist, jazz singer Gregory Porter performs "Bee Good (Lion's Song)" on a vintage subway car in downtown Brooklyn. "Bee Good" was our favorite song of 2012, and this new recording makes us love it even more.
Dawes and Shovels & Rope are heading out on a long summer tour together at the end of the month. In an effort to drum up large crowds they are giving away a 6 song sampler, including yesterday's song of the day, "From a Window Seat." Tour Dates Tue-Jun-04 New Orleans, LA Tipitina's Wed-Jun-05 Mobile, AL Alabama Music Box Fri-Jun-07 Atlanta GA Buckhead Theatre Sun-Jun-09 Nashville, TN Ryman Auditorium Tue-Jun-11 Asheville, NC The Orange Peel [...]

Dawes has been working real hard at becoming one of my favorite bands of all time. That sound crazy to say about such a young band, with only three albums to their name, but each one is a solid effort. Their third album, Stories Don't End , was released early last month and I am loving every song, especially the lead single, "From a Window Seat".

It was on this day, 47 years ago, that The Beach Boys released my favorite record of all time. I grew up on The Beach Boys, and was destined to be a fan, as the first mix-tape I ever received was a collection of Beach Boys songs given to me from my uncle. But even beyond my biased opinion, this record is considered to be one of the greatest ever, topping several all-time lists, and being included in the top 10 of countless others. So if you have never taken the time to listen to this album in its [...]

Fitz and the Tantrums released their 2nd full-length album last week. More Than Just A Dream , picks up right where their excellent debut, Pickin' Up The Pieces left off. It's more of that unique neo-soul meets indie-pop sound, but it's different enough that it doesn't feel like more of the same. "The Walker" is probably my favorite song of the album so far and one that I just can't help but dance to every time I hear it. And my 3 week old son loves it too. Putting on that song [...]

Noah Gundersen has been recording and performing with his sister Abby for almost a decade now. They have released an album under the band name, The Courage, along with 3 EPs as just Noah Gundersen. I recently discovered this guy and have been obsessed with this heart-wrenching song from their 2011 EP, Family .

The new Daft Punk album, Random Access Memories , is now streaming for free on iTunes . This album is already getting a ton of love from the blogosphere. So we decided to join in on the fun and feature the super catchy collab with rapper Pharrell Williams, "Get Lucky", as our song of the day.

Adam Howard is a singer-songwriter based out of Tulsa, OK who writes and performs under the moniker, The Duke of Norfolk . He's been writing and recording his own music since teaching himself to play the piano about 5 years ago (along with just about every other instrument he could get his hands on). He's in incredible musician with some just unreal God-given talent. Because he still produces all his own material, his music still has this authentic and raw sound to it, and with each new album, he has continued to hone his craft as a songwriter. His [...]
