New Horse Feathers – "Fit Against the Country" Indie Folk-Pop quartet, Horse Feathers is set to release their fourth album, Cynic's New Year, via Kill Rock Stars on April 17th. First Aid Kit – "Emmylou" Video

First Aid Kit - Emmylou
Swedish sister duo, First Aid Kit, sound to me like the perfect blend of Fleet Foxes and Bat for Lashes. I've only vaguely followed their musical career thus far. First obsessing over their brilliant cover of "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song" off their debut Drunken Trees . Then the single "Hard Believer" off of their sophomore effort The Big Black And The Blue . And I guess this go around it will be the lovely and infectious alt-country single "Emmylou" from their most recent release, The Lion's Roar . Sadly enough I have [...]

You can stream the entire album all week over at Spinner or you can purchase it here: Who's Feeling Young Now? If you are unfamiliar with Punch Brothers, they are a bluegrass group that Chris Thile started shortly after Nickel Creek called it quits. The new album was produced by Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Kings of Leon), and has a really fun sound. Take a listen to this great track from the album courtesy of Direct Current . [...]

Watch Bon Iver Play "Perth" with The Roots

While in New York for his appearance on SNL, Justin Vernon was kind enough to drop by Jimmy Fallon's Late Night studio and record a quick little session with everybody's favorite late night house band. With the help of ?uestlove and The Roots, Bon Iver delivers a very cool and groovin' version of one of my personal favorite tracks from last year's self-titled sophomore effort . Spanning over 8 minutes long, they really stretch it out and create something unique that stands on it's own, while keeping the integrity of original. It really makes me wish that [...]

New Tennis Album – "Young & Old"

New Tennis Album – "Young & Old" Retro indie-pop band, Tennis, is set to release their sophomore record, Young & Old , tomorrow on Fat Possum Records. Tennis made quite the splash on the music scene last year with their stellar debut, Cape Dory. The nautical themed record sounded as if it fell straight out of the 502s and included one of my favorite songs of last year . Have a listen to two songs off the upcoming Young & Old . The Head and the Heart – "Down in the Valley" Video

The Head and the Heart – "Down in the Valley" Video Earlier this week, Seattle indie follksters, The Head and the Heart released the official video for their charming song "Down in the Valley". The video gives you a glimpse into "the touring life". It's a fun little trip that goes from sleeping in vans on the road to setting up the stage to rockin' out in front of thousands of people. It makes me really wish that they were coming to Oklahoma on their current tour. Check out the video below and then mark your calendars when they are coming to town. The [...]

12 Most Anticipated Albums of 2012

Greg Laswell - "What a Day"
I know I am a little late on this, but here are the albums that I am looking forward to hearing the most. Please understand this is not my guess at what will be the best albums of 2012, or my attempt at finding the pulse of what the general public is most excited about. These the 12 albums that I am personally the most excited about. Also know that I have excluded several albums that have already been released that surely would have made this list, had I done a month ago, including the new ones by [...]

"Up All Night" Is Hilarious

So in case you were wondering, Up All Night is a really funny show. If you haven't watched it yet, you should definitely give it a chance. This show has potential t0 be around for a while. There is an endless amount of funny material based around the impact a new born baby has on a couple's life. They lead couple played by Christina Applegate and Will Arnett are a very down-to-earth and relatable couple. My wife and I have had a lot of the same arguements and "discussions." And most importantly, this is the first time, post-Arrested Development, that [...]

Teitur – Let the Dog Drive Home

Teitur – Let the Dog Drive Home I absolutely wore out Danish singer/songwriter Teitur Lassen's debut album Poetry & Aeroplanes. It may have been the most played album for me from my college days. In fact my wife and I had some of our best friends play one of the songs off the album for us in our wedding. That is how much this album meant to me. Well if you're like me, you waited for his follow-up with great anticipation, only to be disappointed when Stay Under the Stars finally released in the US in late 2006. With the troubles/breakup with Columbia [...]

The Best Music from the Super Bowl XLVI Commercials

Awake Extended Preview
The commercials from this year's super bowl may not have been very funny, but they did have some pretty good music. Here is a short list I put together of my favorite songs found in a commercial featured during this year's super bowl. This list is in no significant order, other than starting with my favorite, the first single from the new Fun. album. Fun. - " We Are Young (feat. Janelle Monáe) " FUN. - We Are Young (Radio Edit) by [...]

BUXTON – "Boy of Nine" Video

Buxton - "Boy of Nine" (Lyric Video)
There's a new 5-piece indie folk-rock ensemble known as BUXTON that released their debut album this week. With a some prickly guitar, a fast-pickin' bangjo, and pulsing accordian, it will be right up your alley. You can watch the video for their first single, "Boy of Nine", below. These guys are playing mostly small venues in the south, but I don't think it will be long before they really take off. So catch them now, if you get the chance. BUXTON Tour [...]

Man or Muppet?

The Muppets: "Man or Muppet" Music Video
As a child, I absolutely LOVED The Muppets movies. And as an adult, I may actually love them even more. It's hard to say, which movie is my favorite. I am a big fan of Muppet Treasure Island, although I am pretty sure that The Great Muppet Caper was probably the movie that got the most viewings from me as a kid. But the most recent addition to the series, The Muppets, starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams gives each of those films a run for their money. In many ways this movie was an homage to all of the [...]

Sound Supply

Supply Drop #1 Trailer
There is a cool new company called Sound Supply , that is giving us a new way to purchase music. 10 albums for $15. This bundled deal is a fun way to get cheap music and to give some new sounds a chance. Their first bundle includes several artists that have been previously featured here on IHYEB, including Coconut Records (Jason Schwartzman), Colour Revolt, Sophie Madelein, and Andrew Dost (Anathallo, Fun.). If they can continue to get quality artists to contribute, this project could be a big deal. Supply Drop #1 Trailer [...]

Gotye – "Somebody That I Used To Know"

Gotye feat. Kimbra- Somebody That I Used To Know- official film clip (HD)
Here is my current obsession. I have been playing this tragic break-up tune on repeat for the past couple of weeks. I'm probably going wear it out soon, and I am pretty sure I've already ruined it for several of my friends. I don't really care for all of the remixes and covers that have been floating around for this song. There is just something addictive about the original, and Kimbra's short little bridge leading into the second chorus about gives me goosebumps every time. Well that's enough from me, just watch the video and let me know what you [...]

My 12 Most Anticipated Films of 2012

My 12 Most Anticipated Films of 2012 In my humble opinion, 2011 was pretty poor year for cinema. Don't get me wrong, I saw a lot of enjoyable films this past year, from The Muppets to the final Harry Potter film, to the Amblin homage Super 8. But that is just what they were, enjoyable. I di2dn't leave the theater disappointed very often this past year. But I rarely, if ever, left the theater feeling exhilarated or did I walk out diving into an evening long conversation about the film I just saw. I had a lot of fun at the movies in 2011, but I wasn't ever "wow"-ed, [...]

The Help

The Help Movie Trailer Official (HD)
My wife and I have a tradition of spending the winter months leading up to the Oscars, catching up on seeing all of the most nominated films. Last night, we watched The Help. I was pleasantly surprised with the film adaptation of this story. Obviously it lacked a lot of the character development that made the book so rich and rewarding, but they did a really good telling this encouraging and challenging story. If you haven't read the book or don't know much about the film, it is a fictional story of one brave young girl living in Jackson, MS [...]

Bon Joviver

Bon Joviver
Indie rock band, Miracles of Modern Science , have given the internet world a fun little treat with their new mini-project, Bon Joviver. They have taken the musical stylings of Bon Iver and combined them with the classic 802s pop tune, "You Give Love a Bad Name", written by, of course, Bon Jovi. Thus, giving us the name, Bon Joviver. Short and silly, but very entertaining. I'm pretty surprised that Jimmy Fallon hadn't already come up with this.
