i'm not a huge fan of remixes. mainly because all it ususually is is turning a great folk song into a techno song. which can be fun at times, but not something i am gonna listen to over and over. but this new remix of a josh ritter song i think is worth listening. i am really enjoying it. instead of just adding a bunch of extra crap... they just accentuated all the horn and sax parts and laid a real sweet beat underneath it all. so crank up the volume, make sure the bass [...]

other than the beach boys, at least for the past five years, ever since i saw them live @ cain's ballroom, guster has been my favorite band. i have seen them live four times now and i don't feel like it is even near enough. and one of my favorite tunes that they do live is a cover of a kooky talking heads song that talks about about how awful this fictional world where all the parking lots and discount stores are gone, and all they have are flowers and mountains and rivers. it is [...]

so i guess coldplay is coming out with a new album in june and to promote they are offering their first single for a free download on their web-site. apparently the new album is going to be titled viva la vida . which for those of you with no spanish knowledge whatsoever, means "live the life." but as for the new song i am not sure what i think. it definitely has a spanish feel to the music, especially in the guitar, to go along with the album title. overall though, i would just [...]

so i am discovering that there are some talk shows out there that are developing better tastes in music. now i realize that the majority of their musical guests are still super popular and usually not that talented. but believe it or not, recently there have been some stellar performances on prime time talk shows. therefore, i am going to try and regularly recommend an upcoming performance, and then also link a video of my favorite performance of the previous week. the one i'm most excited about for this week is tomorrow (wed.) night's performance by feist [...]

so this may be old news to you, but it's new to me. apparently conan o'brien is taking over for jay leno on the tonight show next year, which i am super pumped about. now i won't have to stay up til midnight to watch a tall lanky red-head bounce jump around and flip his hair (which still makes me smile every time i see it.) but i am not sure how i feel about jimmy fallon taking over for late night. it's not that he hasn't made me laugh in the past, i just never really pictured him as [...]

so i am a huge smallville fan. i got addicted to this show the summer before my sophomore year in college and then watched four seasons of it with some of my suite mates that year. if you've never seen the show i highly recommend it. it's got the hero, the cute girl, the drama, the action...it's basically the best show ever. so i have started rewatching the series with my wife lately and we were watching the one where some girl was being kept in a coma by her psycho uncle, but somehow she had managed to [...]
