I just wet myself when I got this in my inbox - a brand spanking new remix by Entrepreneurs of Capsize, the latest single from Dels . It's double rainbow-tastic. I Love Entrepreneurs and love Dels too. The day is much better now. Dels feat. Joe Goddard & Roots Manuva - Capsize (Entrepreneurs Remix) by Entrepreneurs

Music is aplenty from Australia at the moment, Belgium probably not so much so. The last band from the little land of waffles coming anywhere near my radar were rock outfit Arid, who I saw in 2001. Although they're still going now, they never really hit the big times. Rather like must Belgian things really. Around that time a Belgian-Australian multi-instrumentalist called Wouter de Backer started making sample filled tracks that got the attention of Oz's (rather good) Triple J radio. He's now better known as Gotye (pronounced like Gautier), released 3 [...]

My slightly crazy Vietnamese grandma partakes in an arcane ritual when her gold fish die. She pulls their corpses out of the tank, cries a little bit about the loss of Thieu or Pham then slaps them around a bit to check they're really gone. She then emotionally drops them down the food shredder in the kitchen sink for their final send off. Well that is my relationship with pet fish. Naming your band, like Binko Swink have done, after your pet fish might be a better way to remember [...]

Here's a lovely tune I've just Shuffled on at Chipped Hip . It's from Canadian Jordan Klassen who's growing quite a following in the land of the maple leaf. There's a slew of influences including Sufjan Stephens and Beck, but aside from that I think this song stands on it's own as a gracefully dramatic little masterpiece. There's a bit of everything on Go To Me - whistles, trumpets, glocks and choirs that all come together to a refreshingly over loud anthemic climax. [...]

Summer is here. Well it is in London - and this is probably the best we're gonna get. Don't you find when the sun's out you can't beat strutting down the street listening to an awesome tune feeling pretty fucking good about yourself? So my tune for a summery ego filled weekend is by Fitz & The Tantrums which I just came across at Mad Macrkel . Founded by Michael Fitzpatrick in L.A., this six piece are quickly becoming known for their soul tapping tunes. They've recently toured with [...]

What was your foreign film fetish? I got lost for a while in the bizarre world of Japan's Takeshi Kitano, where 20 minute periods of nothingness would be interspersed by short scenes of mind numbingly insane violence. I wouldn't say that Bill Majoros , otherwise known as The Foreign Films , is anything like Kitano, or Japanese films, but his music would can certainly fill my time like Kitano did. Marjoros' former band Flux A.D. included Julie Fader (Feist, Great Lake Swimmers) and Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck) and has toured much of [...]

My second Ninja Tunes related post in 2 days. Dels yesterday, Eskmo today. I may not be the first to bring you these two artists, but with so much music out there you can really struggle to stumble across music that makes you itch with glee. Brendan Angelides more commonly known now as Eskmo is an electronic experimental producer and recording artist based in San Fransico. I'm sure that Entrepreneurs has taken a ton of inspiration [...]

Today many of you will have heard the sad news of the passing of Gil Scott-Heron . I'm not going to write an obituary for him here, but I thought a good way to honour him would be to introduce you to a potential new hip-hop star that may be the man to take his mantle. The musician come graphic designer from Ipswich, Dels (born Kieren Dickins) , is in a three album deal with Big Dada and can proudly include Hot Chip's Joe Goddard amongst his fans. He is, like Gil Scott-Heron, [...]

In 2002 when Shania Twain 's alleged tracklisting for her Up! album leaked I don't think I've ever been more excited about hearing a collection of songs. No, now don't be silly, I wasn't, and am not, a huge Shania fan or anything, but when you read a proposed tracklisting that consists of titles like: Thank You Baby (For Making Me Come So Soon) ; Waiter! Bring Me Water! ; I'm Not in the Mood (To Say No!) and In My Car (I'll Be the Driver) , you [...]

A few (hundred) miles away from Melbourne, the home town of one of the greatest sample based bands in the world, The Avalanches , comes a new contender to their rarely contested throne. Fishing is the experimental electronic pop duo Russell Fitzgibbon and Doug Wright from Sydney. Like the Avalanches they make big beaty tunes that turn your frowns upside down. Their current single OOOO is a testament to their sunshine sound, and despite being full to the brim with ideas, samples and melodies, it all [...]

I love Dan Black . Out of all the male electro pretenders that came out over the last few years, errr... namely him and Frankmusik, Dan Black puts them all to shame. There's something about his orchestral electro wonderment that I adore. It's music that I listen to and can make me think, "this is why I love music". So I'm shocked an appauled with myself for managing to miss this gem I just shuffled upon. Gorecki Fix Up My Girlfriend Some More comes from Dan Black's mix tape [...]

Where have all the guitars gone? Not very far apparently. British rock has taken a slump recently, there's nothing new getting too far, but lets hope that changes. We're due a new pop rock band soon. Actually what was the last great pop rock band? Arctic Monkeys I guess. The Van Doos are a London based group and one of the rare breed that are not stuck in the gradually grating dickhead East London vibe. Maybe it's cause one of the members is from York, like me. Don't worry though, they don't sound [...]

The adrenaline hit from watching horror films is not something I enjoy. Why spend a couple of hours stressing out. So do I like horror techno bassline dubstep tracks? Turns out I do. Figure , a.k.a. Josh Gard, from somewhere in the Midwest, USA is terrorising my Friday afternoon. Massive dub tracks all about Zombies and Werewolves. I'd love to hear this in a massive club. At my desk trying to work I think I'm missing out on some of the ambience. You can find a ton of his scary beats at Figure's [...]

I have scouts around the world. I can kind of say that now, my reliable friend in Basel, Switzerland, gave me a shout out for The Phantom Band . Turned out to be a shout worth listening to. The Phantom Band have been lurking since 2004, and in 2007 signed to London label Trial & Error. They now ply their trade locally with Glasgow indie label Chemikal Underground . Their third album The Wants was released in October [...]
I'm sure you have heard, but if you haven't Radiohead have just released their surprise new album The King Of Limbs . Here's a sneak peak of whats on offer with their new video for Lotus Flower . Thom Yorke dances in it. A lot.

By no means planned, here is my second Americana post of the week. Maybe it's my own personal way of trying to stave off the apparent brit-pop revival that's around the corner. Please, don't let it happen. With a slightly more conservative approach compared to Jessica Lea Mayefield , my last country adventure - Chicago born Tristen , now based in Nashville, writes with great maturity and melodic expertise. Her songs' ever so slightly off kilter phrases grab your attention and keep you coming back for more. [...]

Holeytonal favourite Entrepreneurs has just posted on his facebook page a new remix of Supersymmetry by brooklyn based psychedelic seamstress Larual Halo at your . I've completely fallen for Entrepreneus' quirky pop beats - I just wish he'd get his hands on Britney and make that god awful Hold It Against Me something even close to listenable. Please stop posting it bloggers - it keeps attacking my life through Hype Machine! Anyway, this remix is awesome: [...]

Time for some shameless self-promotion. Well sort of. I play cello in a folk/pop group called Silvermoths . I've been making music with lead singer and co-writer Emma Churchley along with guitarist Kaziu Gill for around 5 years now - and it just keeps getting better. Silvermoths started around a year ago, with my colleague Kate Whitaker on percussion and we're starting to get some attention around London. I've also just heard that we may be appearing at a festival this summer - I'll tell [...]

With 2011 just round the corner I'm sure many of you are desperately looking for the next best tunes for your playlist at tonight's party. I've decided to be nice and am going to help you bring in the new year in style with this amazing track by French electro outfit Discodeine who I have written about before . Discodeine - Singular (mp3) Happy New Year Everyone!
