Things have been fairly quiet since State Bird got home from tour. But don't let that fool you. They are working on perfecting their upcoming Cornerstone performance. We have had some new press come in for them from Alarm Magazine. "Listening to State Bird 's songwriting duo Coby Hartzler and Jared Riblet talk about their respective styles in the studio is like listening to the Odd Couple's Oscar and Felix talk about the ideal cleanliness of an apartment." Being the hard workers Interstates are we have parts 2-4 for your viewing pleasure today.
Interstates had a really great first tour. As you may know, they just returned from touring the South, Texas, and the Midwest with their buddies in the band Foxhole. From the second we met they were flashing photos on their iPhones and taking tons of videos on their flip video cameras. I told them to compile everything and give us a tour documentary. [...]

State Bird just finished up their spring tour last night in Bowling Green, KY. They traveled far and wide and here are the responses they got. Video at The Monitor State Bird executes musical feats that carry a high degree of difficulty for indie-rock bands. During Friday night's show, the band incorporated heavy doses of funk (shimmering guitar, "Low Rider" percussion, falsetto vocals) and ended a tune with a drum circle (after bongos were surreptitiously placed next to the non-percussionist members). State Bird came in at 90 in the CMJ 200. We have one more week to go. Please keep contacting your local stations. They are leaving for a month long tour today. Keep up with the tour page to see if they are coming to your city. They had a great review in Popmatters last week. Popmatters: State Bird never seem to acknowledge the confinement of their studio surroundings. The fact that tape was rolling during each performance comes across as merely coincidental. That is not to imply that Mostly Ghostly [...]

State Bird is up 3 spots to 159. Thanks for all your help and please continue requesting. We also have a new review for Mostly Ghostly. Pasta Primavera: After a couple of spins of this Ohioan band, I've come to an understanding of what I perceive is going on throughout this album. It's full of metaphors and parables that parallel life, it's cruel truths, and it's awe inspiring realizations. Full Review: Here

Interstates is doing an interview series with the Sojourn Music Blog. So now I just see a lot of cool things at work (as a train conductor) and I want to capture them and I think I would capture them regardless of if I was gonna use it for Interstates videos. There's just a lot of neat things as you go through the countryside and see how the shadows are cast onto the ground. Beside the train you just have this huge shadow cast upon the ground.
